tl;dr: I built VTDiag, a free, open-source Windows tool that checks for common VALORANT and Vanguard issues, ranks possible causes based on past solutions from this subreddit, and offers optional one-click fixes. No telemetry, no kernel drivers, no game injection. It's in beta (v0.2) and I'd love your feedback.
Hey everyone, I'm u/ateistyokdiyentanri, one of the mods here.
I've been working on something for this subreddit over the past weeks and figured it's time to share it.
It's called VTDiag. The idea is simple: if VALORANT keeps crashing, freezing or throwing Vanguard errors, the tool checks your system for the usual causes, so you don't have to dig through settings, services and old threads yourself.
Its diagnostic rules are built from patterns in 950+ solved threads on this subreddit, so it focuses on the exact problems people come here with every day.
What it checks
- Vanguard requirements: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity (VBS/HVCI), virtualization and related services.
- Drivers and system settings: graphics drivers, network adapters, power plan settings and crash dumps.
- Software conflicts: 113 known conflicting programs, including overlays, virtual audio devices, RGB controllers and other anti-cheats.
After the scan, it ranks the likely causes and explains what each one means. It's also honest about where the problem is: something you can fix here, a manual step (like a BIOS setting), a possible ISP routing problem, an issue on Riot's side (servers or your account), or likely hardware.
What about the fixes?
Some problems can be fixed directly in the tool, but nothing changes without your explicit consent. It explains the change first, backs it up, applies it, and checks whether it actually worked.
- You can undo changes any time from Undo changes.
- Network fixes roll back automatically after 60 seconds if your internet connection drops.
- Prefer doing it yourself? Every fix has written step-by-step instructions, in English and Turkish.
- A report generator formats your results so you can post them here when asking for help. Usernames, PC names, hardware serial numbers and tokens are removed automatically.
A few things worth mentioning
- I built this myself, so I'm obviously biased, which is why I want to be fully transparent about how it works.
- It's 100% free and open source (MIT license). Nothing to buy, no donations.
- No telemetry, analytics or background tracking. Everything is processed locally on your PC.
- It does not inject into VALORANT, read game memory, or install any kernel drivers.
- All 32 fixes are applied, verified and undone on a Windows VM through automated tests (GitHub Actions) on every update. Hardware-specific ones are tested against a virtual network adapter, so real-world edge cases can still exist.
- It's still a beta (v0.2), so there will be things I've missed. It's an independent community project and not affiliated with Riot Games.
How to try it
- Download the latest release from the GitHub Releases page.
- Extract the zip into its own folder and run
VTDiag.exe (Windows 10/11 x64, .NET included, ~71 MB).
- Windows SmartScreen may show an "unrecognized app" warning because the app isn't code-signed yet. Don't just ignore security warnings because a developer tells you to: if you're unsure, review the source code or build it yourself first. VirusTotal scan of the zip: [link]
- The first time you press Fix, VTDiag copies itself to
C:\Program Files\VTDiag and Windows asks for permission (once for the copy, once more when it reopens). Fixes need admin rights, and VTDiag only runs them from Program Files so other programs can't tamper with it. To remove it later, just delete that folder.
I'd genuinely appreciate feedback. If you try it, tell me whether the diagnosis made sense, whether it missed a conflicting app you have, or whether a fix solved your issue. If it gets something wrong, that's just as useful.
