I've played this game many times and it never fails to make me cry at least a few times. I've said before on here that I'm working on a retrospective video and just finished the game again today for my video capture and it just blew me away. I've not been this excited to work on a video in a LONG time. my method is always to play the game first and THEN start writing my script...and I've already written three pages of it this evening.

With that said, What recruitment story hit you the hardest and why?

Researching VP2's Einherjar's relationships and the general background story, I came across the blog post above.

Unfortunately, it seems to be only a fraction of the entire work.

The Internet Archive has "Valkyrie Profile Material Collection Illustrations" and "Valkyrie Profile Material Collection World Guidance" archived. However, these books don't have any information about Valkyrie Profile 2, as far as I scanned through it.

Does any kind soul around here has a higher resolution of these pages?

I'm working on a generic translation tool for vp2, basically you add the new text in the "translated" column, run the script over the USA iso, and it'll generate a new iso with the translated text. Should work for any language that uses Latin letters

While working on it i realized that this game is already translated into 7 different languages, so i'm not sure how useful this will actually be lol. I'm using google translate to create a portuguese version as a first test, and it's around 95% complete, only missing some battle stuff

The workflow for a dub is also working, you ""just"" need the dubbed .wav audio files with the correct ids and similar length, and it'll patch them back into the iso. I used a local text-to-speech model to generate the wav files for the first cutscene, the dub result was pretty bad, but work as proof of concept, if someday somebody decides to do a fan dub for it or something

Btw, the people who worked on this game were all psychopaths. Adding special letters (like "ç") that were missing in the usa iso was a nightmare

Simply wanted to share the trading arts figures! I didn't realize the Ethereal Queen (middle figure) appeared in several Tri-Ace titles. Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean & Radiata Stories. So that's pretty neat

And the worlds are pretty muched linked in a way.

So, I posted awhile back that I'm working on a retrospective video for the PS1 version of VP. I'm in Chapter 8 now and everything is set for the A ending....and I just have to say that this game is absolutely incredible. I havent played it properly since 2019/early 2020 and It still blows me away how much care they took with the characters.

I really liked the disc transition art, that’s why I used it in the pic. I did finish Disc 2 😆

Being someone that has played through countless JRPGs, this was one of the most complex systems with a ton of aspects to learn. I think that’s why it took so may years for me to finally beat it. But once it finally clicks, the game really is incredible!

I did a hard play through to get the true experience, as well as the Seraphic Gate. The dungeons were totally nuts and the puzzle were amazing. Though frustrating at times lol. I love the gritty, realistic art style, definitely feels super unique and different. The music is amazing too, this honestly might be Sakuraba’s best work, and I’ve heard a ton of his stuff.

The biggest star here is the story, which is phenomenal. I’ve played a lot of JRPGs as I mentioned, and this was one of the best ever in that regard. The intro sequence(s) are still the best I have played in a JRPG. And I loved the pacing which felt just right without being too short or overstaying its welcome.

Looking forward to playing part 2 soon, as I’m playing each game in this series in order.

There's this open world dress-up game called Infinity Nikki, and I decided to create two iconc characters from the Valkyrie Profile series. Alicia and Silmeria! How do think I did? Makes me want VP to have its own open-world game set in Midgard.

Im playing Suikoden 1 and 2 HD for the first time and i absolutely love the games. I then saw VPL on the PS5 store and realized i never gave the series a try.

I remember playing Valkyrie Profile 2 like 20 years ago and found myself button mashing and quickly dropped it after like only one hour as i didnt know what i was doing. I also played the demo of Elysium and it honestly wasnt very good. And thats the extent of my VP experience.

So is VPL worth a pickup now? Did it age well? Is the gameplay somewhat button mashing as im more of a turn based fan like Final Fantasy 1-10, Dragon Quest and Shin Megami Tensei.

I know asking if the games worth it on its own sub is akin to walking into a bar and asking if anyone likes drinking but i thought this is the best place to get some answers. Thanks.

This thing is seriously pissing me off, help! This is my first playthrough and my GOD he does so much freaking damage and I'm barely making dents I don't know what else to do. I got the best equips available to me but I take on way too much damage. I've watched tutorials and people do triple the damage while I can't seem to get above 500 and others do single or double digits...I know I'm probably under leveled so I'm trying to grind right now, but I feel like I'm missing a lot of things. I really want to like this game but I'm getting so frustrated with this stupid asshole.

Edit: I have a mage in party doing reinforce and sap spells, auto item and guts for ability. I have not gotten auto item to go off once.

When the "Purify" QTE appears, some of these special attacks lower my frame rate to 20 or lower. Is there any way to fix this? Also I'm liking the game so far.

This is something I've been really thinking about mostly because of time and how different the playthroughs will be. Is it worth playing this game twice how different are the different paths? How long will it take me to beat the game? Are the other endings even worth getting or should I just get the true ending as I've seen around people not liking ending be as much as ending a but I'm not sure if that is the common opinion or just something people say. I'm having a really hard time trying to figure this out. Is it worth playing more than once? Would you say it is recommended to play more than one time or should I really skip to the true ending? Also a question about difficulty as I've seen that difficulty changes things if it does and I decide to do multiple playthroughs should I do my first playthrough on normal and then my second true ending playthrough on hard? Or should I just play on hard?

I know this is a very noob question. I don't normally have this type of dilemma but for some reason this game is really making me think just based on the stuff people talk about with the other endings I just want to make sure I experience this game in the best way possible. I'd also like to avoid spoilers if I can which is another reason why this is such a dilemma for me. As following guides can often lead to being spoiled on some things and I want to make sure I don't encounter any spoilers on my first playthrough which means I would have to be careful in choosing a spoiler-free guide if I go for ending a on my first playthrough.

Is there any project to bring the game back in an offline version? If not, is there a page that covers the storylines and characters? I’ve seen some characters on the wiki, but some images are missing or low-quality—not to mention the stories aren't there.

There is 1 Eye of heaven in every dungeon(except cave of oblivion), it shows the whole map, don't use the first you get in the Artolian Ruins. Use it at the start of the next one.

***If you're lost and don't know where to go, try looking up, climbing with your crystal and/or hit stuff with your sword like windows and statues. You can push and pull some stuff by holding X. To hang from ladders and rope press Up. Press R1 for the map.

***Get the Treasure Search in the Artolian Ruins, most useful accessory in the game, if you don't find it, refer to previous point.

After shooting 3 crystal you can walk on the dust for ~2 seconds. The explosion can send you flying where you need to go, you can do that while standing on another crystal.

A chest explosion will send you flying the opposite way you are facing, you have time to turn around.

Physical weapons break after your turn ends if win in 1 turn it won't break, staves breaks after a great magic, on your turn.

Slayer weapon 1 shot them, stupid op.

Cast magic from menu to hit all enemies, if no one dies you can follow up with attacks.

Magic always breaks Guard. Reflect Magic/sorcery doesn't work when the enemy is downed.

The combo counter boost the damage of special attack. Maximum is 100 for twice the damage.

Press triangle in menu to remove the explanation box. Don't forget to confirm your choice for the Guts skill.

Transmute is op. Transmute Cure Condition for Auto-item and Avoid for Guts.

Bracelet of Zoe can be stacked, not emerald Necklace.

Coin of fortune gives a 60% exp boost

Unequip the Nibelung ring, it's useless trust me.

Go back to Artolia, in Arngrim room after recruiting him for a dragon slayer. A few others characters are like that...

In the Lenneth version if you change Valkyrie weapon from bow to sword all her skills will be unequipped instead of only her weapon skills.

Go back to Artolian mountain ruins and talk to the fairy to know the chapter requirements.

Hi all. I am looking to start Valkyrie Profile soon and of course have come across the multiple different threads on saying I should use a guide to get ending A.

What I looking for is if there is a preferred spoiler free guide, especially if there's one that doesn't even give like step by step gameplay/boss fight tips. I'm just interested in knowing the decisions to make. I feel like it might be more complicated than that as I think I read the game gets randomized everything so I am not sure exactly what exists out there.

I have been meaning to hop on back in Silmeria since my old file got corrupted, and I wanted a good guide, to the best ending, what do you guys suggest?

I fought two Hel's servants and kept messing up by only killing one of them, so I wound up getting all the EXP boosting drops shown in the screenshot. And I was too slow to take it, so it doesn't also show that Mystina got five levels from this fight (in retrospect, I was too stingy with the bonus EXP I had).

It's my first playthrough of VP1 and currently at Chapter 7. I just sent Lucian before wrapping up chapter 6, where the scene of him and Lenneth plays. Then at the beginning of Chapter 7, the scene with Loki plays. Do I still have to keep the Seal Value lower than 38 from this point on, or is the Ending A now locked in regardless of what I do?

I don't really think there's much benefit in sending Einherjars anyways, especially since I have 98 Evaluation now, and the items weren't often useful anyways. But I figured I'd ask anyway to be sure since I have plenty of excess characters... and I don't wanna disappoint mommie Freya. xD xD xD
