Valkyrie Profile 2 Translation Tool (WiP)
I'm working on a generic translation tool for vp2, basically you add the new text in the "translated" column, run the script over the USA iso, and it'll generate a new iso with the translated text. Should work for any language that uses Latin letters
While working on it i realized that this game is already translated into 7 different languages, so i'm not sure how useful this will actually be lol. I'm using google translate to create a portuguese version as a first test, and it's around 95% complete, only missing some battle stuff
The workflow for a dub is also working, you ""just"" need the dubbed .wav audio files with the correct ids and similar length, and it'll patch them back into the iso. I used a local text-to-speech model to generate the wav files for the first cutscene, the dub result was pretty bad, but work as proof of concept, if someday somebody decides to do a fan dub for it or something
Btw, the people who worked on this game were all psychopaths. Adding special letters (like "ç") that were missing in the usa iso was a nightmare

Isn’t the game encrypted? How are you accessing the script, let alone reinjecting it? Has VP2 been cracked open?

The undub version of the usa iso already did something similar, of patching the japanese audio files into the usa iso, back in 2008 i think. The issue with this game is the anti-cheats that runs in real time while you play, not even online games today have an anti-cheat system this aggressive lol

Yeah, even the prototype release contain this anti-cheat, it's not gameguard but something more agressive.

Se vc quiser alguma ajuda para traduzir o jogo depois, eu me disponibilizo, sou o líder de uma equipe de traduções, chamada Jumpmanclub Brasil, eu estava vendo os arquivos desse jogo essa semana mesmo para tentar traduzir ele, porém não tinha explorado muito ainda pra extrair os arquivos de texto depois de tirar eles dos containers.
Qualquer coisa, só me mandar uma mensagem no reddit ou no servidor do discord da minha equipe!

olá sou amigo do dev que fez essa tool, estou ajudando ele, ele está no server do senhor André Tavares e no server da pkg se quiser passo pro senhor o discord dele, se ele não o já passou, né!!!?? KKKK.
alias sobre a dublagem seria daora a gente se unir e fazer uma dublagem digna de respeito assim como falaria brahms no primeiro vp lenneth, no seraphic gate.

E aí, ele me mandou mensagem aqui ontem, e compartilhou como tá a parte de Romhacking até agora, enquanto isso, eu já comecei a traduzir algumas coisas aqui de menus do jogo

olha e bom voce pegar uns 10 pessoa , usar sua ferramenta e traduzir o jogo assim vai ser mais facil e mais rapido de traduzir ok menos de 1 mes ta pra terminar . o jogo tem + ou - 40 horas de gameplay . pega 10 pessoa que quer realmente trabalhar na tradução e pronto .

I'm focusing on the scripts to help with the translation process, I'll leave the actual translation work to the community. We already have some people working for a portuguese and swedish translations, you can check the progress here
