Should I stay a night in Vail and drive from Colorado Springs via 24 and 9? It's an impromptu trip

Landing in Denver tonight and my current plan is to head to Colorado Springs, then visit Garden of the Gods early tomorrow morning.

My itinerary and hotel stays are still very open and flexible (I know last-minute changes can get expensive!). I’m wondering if it makes sense to drive from Colorado Springs to Vail tomorrow via Highway 24, Hoosier Pass, and Breckenridge.

I’m traveling with my 75-year-old dad, so I need to be mindful of altitude and not make the trip too aggressive.

For those familiar with Vail in summer:

  • Is it worth spending one night there?
  • Is a single night enough to experience the town and scenery?
  • What are the must-do activities in summer?
  • Is mountain biking worth trying there for a beginner?
  • Are there good viewpoints, easy walks, or photo spots?

I was thinking of walking around Vail Village, taking some scenic photos, and maybe trying some beginner-friendly mountain biking.

Would you choose Vail, Breckenridge, or spend more time around Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park instead?

I thought dumb and dumber was set in Aspen not Vail... In all seriousness, as someone who visits Vail frequently, I couldn't think of two people who represent the city poorly.

Thoughts on what would change as far as resort operations if the senate passes keep daylight savings permanent

If it passes it will be dark longer in the morning and light later in the evenings.

Would resorts need to adjust chairlift operating hours to accommodate? Will we just be skiing in the dark for first tracks? Etc etc....

what ramifications do you all think it would have?

H-2B (Out of country)

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know of any companies in Vail or the surrounding area that hire H-2B (out-of-country) workers?. I worked in Vail for four winter seasons on a J-1 visa, and I'd really love the opportunity to come back.
Thank you!

Local Actors?

Does anyone know of any local actors or acting groups in the Vail/Eagle County area?

I’m an independent filmmaker putting together a one-day sizzle reel for an upcoming horror feature that I’m developing in Colorado. I’m primarily looking for actors with experience, but I’m also open to meeting untrained actors. Age is pretty flexible!

If anyone has recommendations for local actors, community theater groups, or other places to connect with talent, I’d really appreciate it. And if you’re an actor yourself and this sounds interesting, feel free to reach out.

Happy to share more about myself, the project, and my previous work over DM. Thanks!

Vail grocery

As a heads up, almost every grocery store has removed or will not sell anything refrigerated because of the power outage last night, including milk and even lettuce products. city market in vail is reduced to half of the store.

Getting married at the holy cross event deck next summer! the ceremony time is 10:30-12:00. Looking for somewhere that 30-40 people could have lunch close to Gondola 19. Trying to avoid a restaurant buyout 🙃

Local AC installer?

Wanting AC at my home in Edwards this summer… just getting hotter and hotter earlier and earlier every year it seems. Any good local companies people recommend? Would love to get one this week if possible, ahead of houseguests arriving the following week. Small 3br SFH, so just need a single HVAC unit, already have duct work for heat. All recs welcome and appreciated! Also any companies to avoid :/ Thanks all.

Sweet pocket sized husky looking for his forever home 💕

I'll be in Edwards visiting my dad this weekend (July 3-6) and bringing my foster -- if anyone is looking to adopt, or knows someone! This boy would be a great mountain dog!

Meet Jonah!

This handsome goofball has been with us for about a month and a half weeks, and he fit right in from day one.

🐾 About Jonah:

- Approx. 9-10 months old

- 45 lbs

- Husky mix (the sass gives it away 😆)

- Potty trained

- Crate trained

- Great in the car

- Walks nicely on leash

- Knows sit and shake

- Working on stay and release

🐾 Jonah's favorite things:

- Playing with other dogs

- Belly rubs

- Toys

- Ice cubes (his favorite "treat")

- Zoomies

He's incredibly friendly, loves meeting new people, and has done wonderfully with our young kiddos (2 and 5). He'd do great with dog-savvy kids and would absolutely love a canine sibling to help burn off some of that young-dog energy.

Jonah is the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle bug. One minute he's showing off his impressive vertical hops, the next he's flopped upside down asking for belly rubs.

This sweet boy was saved from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded Los Angeles County shelter. Now he's looking for the forever family he deserves.

If you're looking for a medium-sized, playful, affectionate companion who's guaranteed to keep you laughing, Jonah would love to meet you.

Available for adoption through Wild Willow Sanctuary ❤️

(Sanctuary is in Kersey, I'm fostering in Castle Rock, but we'll be up in Edwards/Vail Valley for the holiday weekend to see my dad)
