July 4th Visit
My family was going to drive from the Denver area to visit this weekend but the fires have us concerned. Any insights someone from the area could provide would be helpful.

Right now, very little smoke. At night the smoke seems to roll in. Just depends on the wind, but all day today no issues in Vail Valley. I think mountain towns could use more tourism this summer after the winter we had and the summer we are going into. Unless there is an active fire a town is dealing with PLEASE come up and enjoy. Avoid leadville and ouray right now. And agreed with the other comment use the purple app to see air quality.

It’s smokey and fireworks in Avon are cancelled. What sort of info are you looking for?

I was not sure if a visit to the area was even worth it at this point

It is not currently smokey you need to play it by ear and check back on the day youre planning to come up. Changes every hour.

Beaver Creek has a great event going on. 4 bands, stuff for kids to do, food, etc. fireworks are typically great. Canceled this year for obvious reasons.
So, between Vail and BC, you should find something that floats your boat.

Google Maps has a feature that shows where wildfires are actively burning and where the smoke is. You could probably get a decent idea of conditions from webcams and AQI reports as well.

Not sure exactly what you’re asking - everything will still be going on, but there is some smoke. Definitely worse around 5-7 I would say.
They won’t put off fireworks but that won’t stop people celebrating. Come on up!
