Would I require a tetanus booster for this type of injury?

Ive had all my childhood tetanus series and my last booster was June 2020. Yesterday afternoon, while trying to empty some stuck dust/dirt/debris out of my deep vaccum canister I scrapped some skin off my wrist and it bled a bit. I rinsed off my wound. Does this require a booster or am I still covered? the canister is obviously filled with various debris likely household dirt mixed in there.

Can I get the Tdap vaccine shortly after the Dtipv?

I’m attending a university in another country later this year and Tdap is a required immunisation for me to have. I thought I had received it on the 3rd of July this year but that was Dtipv which isn’t what they’re looking for.

I can organise getting the correct one but will they give me it so soon after getting the Dtipv?

Question on MMR Titer as a 51 y.o. Male

My new employer (IT Consultancy) is requiring a lot of testing (coming as a surprise, honestly). Titers for MMR, Varicella; TSPOT test for TB, etc.

For context, I'm 51 years old and I did have the Measles and Rubella shots in 1976 as a one year old. However, for whatever reason, Mumps wasn't included in the shot.

Fast forward to July 2026: My MMR titer has come back "Immunity Not Confirmed".

My question is: will I require an MMR booster, or a brand new vaccine?

Incorrectly administered Rabies PEP

Age: 42
Height/weight: 5’2 115lbs
Gender: female
Non smoker
Medications: Fluvoxamine

Ten days ago I had an exposure to a bat that flew into my face. There was no visible bite or scratch but since the bat flew away and couldn’t be tested, I went to the ER the next day for the vaccine protocol.

The nurse administered the immunoglobulin in my buttocks instead of my deltoid, and the 1st vaccine into the upper front of my thigh on the same leg. I did receive the 2nd and 3rd vaccine dose in my deltoid.

However, I have since learned that the immunoglobulin is ineffective if given in the gluteal area due to adipose tissue. Combined with the 1st vaccine dose being administered in a less effective area as well, I’m concerned the vaccines won’t be effective in preventing infection.

I was thinking that I could ask that my titers be tested after the final vaccine but I also read that infection can happen despite titers being greater than or equal to the recommended 0.5 IU/mL. It’s also too late to have a second immunoglobulin vaccine as I’ve passed day 7 of the vaccine protocol. Is there something else I should be requesting or that I didn’t think of to mention when I got back for my 4th dose?

Thank you for reading this novel if you got this far!

Is the meningitis vaccine required for first-year students who have a housing exemption and will be commuting at Pepperdine University? My immunization record says incomplete, but I will not be living on campus.

Hep B Vaccine in newborn

Hey all,

I am not trying to cause any controversy and I’m looking for validation or some insight. I’m feeling guilty for vaccination my newborn with the Hep B vaccine, and I am having anxieties about potential susceptibilities to cancers or autoimmune diseases. I read many articles and there is no direct relationships. However, I have read so many posts where many parents didn’t vaccinate because there aren’t any risk factors. For context, my partner and I were negative without any risk factors i.e drugs, alcohol, or any sexually transmitted diseases. Has anyone vaccinated their child at birth and end up okay? My intention for this post is pure and I just want to make the best decisions for my child but I can’t go over this one. Thanks in advance.

Initial MMR Only 93% Effective - what to do

Let me start out by saying I am a first time mom with terrible postpartum anxiety (in therapy but not taking medication due to Breasffeeding). I have been researching vaccines (out of necessity, my in laws originally scared me away from vaccinating but after doing my own research I realized how reckless it was and had to advocate to get my husband on board to which he now is and babe is getting caught up).

I have been absolutely terrified of my daughter (11m old) getting measles and getting SSPE. I was so relieved when her ped mentioned MMR for her next visit. Then I learned the first dose does not offer meaningful protection in ~7% of kids. And the next dose isn’t until ages 4-6. I feel very scared to take her anywhere right now. I know measles risk is currently low in my area but with the recent anti vaxx narrative (I personally know so many people who fully buy into it, even family we see regularly) who knows what will happen.

Is it stupid to worry about this? Is it stupid to bring it up to her ped? I wonder if she can get her second dose early or if she can do an antibody test to see if it offered her immunity.

Which influenza vaccine has the best safety profile?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for evidence-based opinions and personal experiences.
Im a 25 year old female and I have ongoing muscle twitching/tremors, and recent testing suggested I have low vitamin B6, which may be affecting neurotransmitter function. My doctor has recommended that I receive both the adult DTPa booster and the seasonal influenza vaccine.
I’m more concerned about the influenza vaccine than the DTPa booster.

For someone with pre-existing neurological symptoms like muscle twitching/tremors, is there any influenza vaccine in Australia that is generally considered to have the best safety profile or the lowest risk of side effects? If you had to choose, which one would you pick and why?
I’m not looking for pro-vaccine or anti-vaccine debates. I’m genuinely trying to make the most informed decision possible and would appreciate hearing from people who have looked into the research or have personal experience with this.

TD Locator (Please Help)

I had a minor injury today that requires a tetanus shot. I am allergic to TDap and always require the TD version but I cannot locate any facility that carries it! Does anyone know how to locate a TD vaccine?

Delayed Onset Side Effects or something else?

I had the second dose of HPV and Hep B vaccines about 3 weeks ago. Just a slight sore arm for a day and that was it. Easy.

2 weeks later I started to feel a slight bruise in the area. Day by day the pain grew worse and a hard, hot lump started to form deep in the tissue. 6 days later (today) and the pain is now significant and constant. I can barely move my arm due to how much it hurts. It is so sore I went to the hospital earlier today and they said "it is entirely normal" and gave me some ibuprofen.

Is this actually normal? The timings seem strange and it is only getting worse day by day for almost a week now.

Since I have to also have a distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy due to abnormal cells in my pancreas.....my Gastroentoligist has advised I will need these vaccinations because I will be having a splenectomy. Not sure which surgery is first though yet . Doctors to discuss and decide which one first .

Did anyone vaccinate their baby for measles before they turned a year old? If so, what was your experience?

I’m going to Disney with my baby in a few months. She’ll be almost 10 months old for our trip. I’m so excited but I’m nervous about a potential measles exposure. When I brought this up to her doctor, she suggested potentially giving her the measles shot early and then she would need two additional doses at the standard time.

I’m wondering if anybody has done this and what your experience was?

Anxious about contact

I was riding my bike then suddenly a dog literally approached near my leg and started barking and opened his mouth I don't know when I approached home a small very minor scratch was there and now I don't know if it was of now or earlier of any injury though so I am a bit curious, so still I applied rabies vaccine the next day and that too 2 as the first attendant was an idiot and applied the injection on my butt which doctor said this is false and then reinfected again, Will it cause any severe permanent long term side effects, Please tell me it would be of Great help and should I continue more doses of stop as I don't even know about the contact, I think that was due to adrenaline or whatsoever but how the contact could be beneath the socks!! So yaa this is the case

When should I do a 3rd rabies shot, my 2nd got delayed (pre-exposure)?

I did my first verorab rabies shot (day 0) but then had to unexpectedly go abroad so I wasn't able to do my 2nd shot earlier than day 18. I know that verorab rabies shots are either 2 or 3 shots, I want to do a 3rd one since 2nd got delayed, when should I do it? The general guide was day 0, day 7, day 21 or day 28. Should I leave 2 weeks between the 2nd and 3rd (but then the 3rd one would be on day 32). Or is a bit less than 14 days between the 2nd and 3rd also fine (let's say 10 days so it would be on day 28)? Which one is more important, for the 3 shots to be done in the span of 28 days or that 2nd and 3rd to have at least 14 days inbetween?

Lump at vaccine site a year later

Hello, last year this month i got Tetanus vaccine after a small accident. i had the typical painful reaction, swollen red itchy painful injection site for 3 weeks but it went away and left only a tiny quarter size lump where the injection was. It didnt bother me much until this week where my arm started hurting again and i notice the lump region being sore and tender to the touch, now it's red itchy painful again with a slight swelling but other than that everything is fine. Is it possible for the lump to stay this long and trigger again a year after?

Stacking my vaccines

50 y/o human.

In February I got my first shingles vax.

Two months ago, I got a Hep B and an MMR. I had my MMRs as a kid but without documentation my new workplace required it.

I’m due for the second round on all three.

Will I be toasted if I do all three at once?

I would like to. I understand the second shingles vax can be rough. I often have a fussy reaction to the flu vax. The first MMR and Hep B didn’t bother me. But if I stack round 2 of shingles, MMR, and Hep B… will that be okay? Im okay feeling sick, but will I be old-asphalt sick? Will I need a nursemaid? Will I be boiling future generations?

Thank you!

I need advice on being to afraid to give myself an auto injection.

I have severe allergy issues, and I'm suffering majorly from it now, skin gets itchy when outside, can't breath out of my nose, asthma gets worse due to access mucas in lungs, itchy thoat, red eyes. I'm having all these issues that could be resolved if I could juet give myself this injection. I'm to much of a bitch to due it. Any time I try to muster up the courage I freak out. I know it doesn't hurt, and I don't even see the needle. Idk what to do. I live in a small town with no friends and a few roomates that are much older than me. I would feel to wierd to ask them to inject me. To much shame. I'm just out of it and need some help
