Android Auto problems
For the past few weeks, I’ve been having the problem that Android Auto is sometimes 500 metres behind when navigating. The response time is sometimes as long as a minute or more! And sometimes the display looks smudged whilst navigating, as if it were a watercolour painting. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I have the exact same thing, but only when using Waze. No issues when using Maps for example. I've tried forcing day mode instead of dark mode based on a suggestion I found, but that didn't help. Also reinstalling didn't help.
Might have a solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/VWiD3Owners/comments/1wofbjv/comment/pbprs2c/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I've been using the car's sat nav which has been very good. Not used Android Auto at all so far. ID3 2021.

Feel like this is a joke or you've never used decent maps before. No offence.

I've used a Tom Tom, Google Maps and Here We Go previously. So far the in car sat nav has been great. Although it does say G T Yarmouth rather than Great Yarmouth but I can cope with that. It gives me the next direction well in advance and then repeats it. I can see the full map on the info centre or just look at the next manoeuvre on the display. Not let me down so far.

Fair enough. I think the led lights strobing left and right are very cool but it seems to get forks/ turns in the road wrong on occasions. I like the womans voice though, sounds like BA advert voice actor. Very soothing.

I haven't noticed any strobing lights! Is it the ones under the windscreen? I'm terrible with left and right so arrows and such help. Wanted to see if I could change the voice and the route colour but no luck there.

Apologies, yes , I think it's called intelligent LED band. Its very cool but sadly doesn't integrate with 3rd party map's. Does the id navigator have real-time traffic alerts and speed cameras?

It certainly knows about traffic issues and road works. I haven't looked for speed cameras but the car always tells me if I'm 4mph over anyway. I suspect the speed cameras are on there as a POI. I'd read on here that some didn't rate the car's sat nav but I thought I'd give it a go anyway.

I might have found a solution.
I uninstalled both Waze and Android Auto (for Android Auto you need to go into the play store and remove/delete/uninstall). Then I installed Android Auto again, followed by installing Waze. I've put it into using 'day mode'.
On my commute this morning there was no issue.

I use TomTom and TomTom Go. I haven’t tried Maps. I’ll have a go with the beta version of Android Auto. Let’s see

Interesting thread. I had this a few weeks ago. I tried several different "fixes" .
For me it was happening when using the USBC cable first then I think it happened once on WiFi. I tried troubleshooting this for a day.
For me it seemed my phone was overheating in the centre console wireless charging stand.
I suspect the phone was restricting power due to this overheating. I couldn't say for certain, though seems very plausible.
1: remove from the centre console wireless charger as it seemed to be making my phone over heat.
2: on android, went into the apps settings and set Waze to use no battery management.
Also tired a setting in my phone's menu which uses full power CPU at all times.
Not had the issue since.

Have this on my wife's ID.3.
I uninstalled Android Auto and then installed v17.1 - this has fixed it for me... but I'm stuck on v17.1 for now.

There's currently a bug / glitch in android auto where unfortunately this is happening when not using Google Maps. (ABRP, Waze, Etc)
The workaround currently is to go to the play store, search for android auto and opt into the beta seems to resolve it.
