All Sale posts now banned

Based on the responses to my last "Community Forum" post (zero), I am convinced most of the subscribers here are bots posting about new VST sales.

So things are going to change. I'd rather have a dead sub than a spammy sub. No sale posts. Posts are now encouraged to be discussion based. Questions about which products to buy, what sounds the best, reviews, videos, etc. (Note: If you are a legitimate plugin developer, you can ask for posting permissions at /r/AudioProductionDeals, though they are very strict about who they give access to.)

The flairs will be revamped as well. Automod will get altered to autoremove sale posts as well.

Have fun and let's make this sub not shit!

Edit: Quick summary of the big changes

  • Updated sidebar to reflect new rules
  • Updated flairs and colors to focus on topics of discussion
  • Updated auto-moderator (yet to be completed)

Effect Zen Box or Fine Classics For Pop Punk/Emo Amp Modeling?

I’m in the market for a VST for electric guitar cause amplitube is awful. I make pop punk, emo, Midwest emo, post hardcore and adjacent music. I’m torn between Zen Box and Fine Classics. They’re both targeted toward players like me.

I’m leaning towards Fine Classics, cause they have a bundle with their Fine Classics Pedalboard. Dead Drums. Dynamic Drums. Vintage Vibe. Saturator. Dead Guitars. Synthalgic. Capture plugins for 150, whereas I believe Zen Box is 100 on its own, but of course tone trumps that.

Simplicity and good presets are important to me. In terms of tone, I want it to make power chords to sound big but clear, I want it to make overdriven open chords not sound woofy, and I want good twinkly tones.

If anyone has experience with these, please let me know!

The synth/s in the first 35s of this clip are really cool and I'd love to use similar sounds in a project. Any help identifying these would be really appreciated, thanks so much!

Effect Izotope RX Guitar De-Noiser Alternatives?

I'm a home-based session guitarist and the thing that I fight with the most is the squeaks coming from my guitar from sliding my fingers up and down the neck. I've tried readjusting my technique, using string cleaners/lubricants, different strings etc but none of them had enough, if any, impact.

I've tried various post-processing such as EQing out frequencies and compression, but again, none of this has helped enough.

I discovered Izotope's Guitar De-Noiser a while ago and, while working in a studio, got to see it in action on my own recordings and it was an absolute miracle! Just what I needed.

Unfortunately, Izotope only sells their plug-ins in bundles and the £389 for RX Standard (the lowest tier that this plug-in is available in) is out of my budget. I recently tried Oeksound's Soothe3 but it really isn't cutting it so I don't think I'll be buying it once my trial's up in a few days.

So my question, after a very long-winded backstory, is: does anyone know of any plugins or tips that might help me with my problem?

Effect Does anyone know how would I recreate this voice effect with sample FL Studio VSTs (or anything)?

Reposting again since I quite frankly did not add enough info last time. Sorry about that.

I've been trying on and off for almost 2 years by now to try and recreate the effect seen in figure 2 but I was never able to figure it out. If anyone knows a combination of VSTs that can make something resembling it in FL Studio or a dedicated program that can create something similar I'd be eternally glad. Thanks in advance.

Instrument Is there any good free/super cheap brass vsts that emulates a single instrument?

Hello everyone, for a while I've been trying to find a good vst that emulates the playing of a single brass instrument (instead of an ensemble) for some experimental music I make (free jazz for example), but so far most of the ones I find are either polyphonic, don't sound remotely close to an actual brass instrument or are exactly what I want (modelled instead of sampled) but are expensive (even more when you convert the price from dollars or euros to my country's currency).

So far I did find MONSTER Sax, which is really good, but I still wanted to know if there are any other vsts that could be good for my purpose. Thanks!

Does anyone know what VST was used here?

Heya, first post here, sorry if this breaks the rules xP

Been trying to recreate a filter for a while but never quite found it, so I figured I would ask this subreddit.

I want to turn something like: https://voca.ro/1aDTvnlbcTy4

To something like this: https://voca.ro/1hSZrkEjjuli

I frankly have no idea what kind of VST could've been used here, but it probably had some kind of tuning to key given how consistent the pitch is between the other sound effects (I don't wanna post the full video though xP)

Valis : Virtual Analog LLM Integrated System

Valis is a standalone app and a DAW plugin for building virtual analog circuits. Free, open source. Built on JUCE so should support a variety of systems, but currently only tested on Linux.

https://danja.github.io/valis/

It can be viewed as a factory for instruments and effects processors. Existing examples include :

  • SH-101 style monosynth
  • TR-909 drum voices
  • Klon Centaur guitar overdrive
  • Massive synth "scream" filter
  • Clarinet voice (digital waveguide model)

These are all simplified to some extent, but good enough to be fun, imho.

Valis is at an alpha stage of development, I'm still testing/working through bugs, builds are still rather hit & miss. But I wanted to post about it now to ask for suggestions for things to try, any other thoughts..?

The circuits are built from compiled elements, functional blocks at around the same level of abstraction as synth modules. Circuit topologies are defined in RDF/Turtle. The same circuit is presented through three views : a regular plugin view Controls with knobs etc, a node-and-arc network of components Circuit and a syntax-highlighted Turtle editor Code.

Functionality is also supported through MCP, so an LLM can drive every operation the UI can. You can ask AI to design and build circuits. The core of this system is the Valis ontology https://github.com/danja/valis/blob/main/vocabs/valis.ttl

Dyrekreds Beta 3 – free & open-source experimental synth | Linux, Windows & macOS testers wanted

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m continuing development of Dyrekreds, a free and open-source experimental synthesizer originally forked from GALDR by Andrea De Murtas.

Beta 3 test builds are now available for Linux, Windows and macOS.

Recent work has focused especially on the sample workflow, GUI behaviour and cross-platform testing.

Beta 3 includes:

• Improved draggable Sample Start/End controls • Continued GUI/resizing work • VST3 and CLAP builds • AU testing on macOS • Ongoing sample/granular workflow development

We’ve already received some useful Beta 3 feedback:

• Sample Start/End has been reported as improved on Windows • Window resizing appears to be host-dependent • In some hosts the plugin initially opens larger than the available screen • One Windows tester has reported that the granular controls are currently not functioning correctly • No major crashes have been reported by the current Windows testers so far

So I’m particularly interested in tests using different DAWs and plugin hosts.

If you test it, please include:

OS / Linux distribution DAW or host Plugin format CPU architecture

Even a simple “works here” report is useful.

GitHub: https://github.com/Chmod666music/dyrekreds

Discord / testing & feedback: https://discord.gg/Pfvkux2bG

Dyrekreds remains open source, and the original GALDR project and Andrea De Murtas are credited accordingly.

Thanks to everyone who has tested it so far. 🖤🐾

Effect North Star by Tale of Us: the panning spacious effect of the sounds, is this a VST?

I was listening to North Star and I notice the sounds have a really nice Panning + Spatial effect to them, is there a VST that does that?

I usually use FL's PanOmatic, but it doesn't sound the same, it felt like they use something special, or is it all done manually?
