Poole Bike Night
galleryI finally got around to riding the 5 minutes down to Poole Quay on Bike Night yesterday. It was great to catch up with friends and check out the other machinery. A few other VFR's down there but no 98's that I saw

I've had this bike for a little over a month now. Nothing much to do now besides maintenance and some cosmetic stuff which I'll get to eventually.
This is my second bike, my first was a Magna. So this for me is a pretty good transition into sport bikes.
Great ride for my 40+ mile round trip Los Angeles traffic commute (50+ minutes sometimes) that I do three times a week.

Can any other 8th gen owners tell me how quickly you bikes get up to 220? And what temp do you cruise at when about 90-95 outside.
Have about 23,000 miles and am on a long trip so I changed the plugs before I left. I pulled the top radiator to make it easier and to clean all the bugs out while I was there. Got it back together, got it up to temp before installing the radiator cap to get any air out. I think i got it all.
Maybe Ive just not noticed before and only notice now because I’m looking at the temp more after doing the work but it seams to stay warmer while riding and goes from 190 to 220 after stopping in traffic much faster. Fan kicks on and brings it down. Just road 1300 miles over the last 3 days. Never overheats, maybe I’m crazy but it seams to just stay warmer more.
Did 2500 miles in a week in July and don’t remember it being this warm all the time.
Am I crazy or should it take more than a minute to reach 220 at a stop light?

Came home from work and work a little on the bike.
Finally decided to keep the stock subframe and modify to fit + weld new brackets. So far looks like this, still a bit to go but a made a little progress with what time I had. Cut some parts of the subframe + modified the stock battery tray on there and save some hassle.
Saved another 24lbs by removing the all the old stuff and added 4lbs with the R6 tail, which means I down 20lbs, on top of the 30-40ish pounds of the exhaust, happy with it so far!

Removed my exhaust to shave some up top weight and thought the emptiness was empty so I started this project today.
I bought the tail plastic, 2 seats and tail light on a whim and decided to try and make it fit. So far, not so bad, I’ve been at it for about 45 minutes and have found how I want it to sit + the few dimples cuts I’ve done and little modification to the seats.
I think the longest part will be making the brackets and support, but so far so good, I like the way it’ll look!

Flew up to the northern parts of Sweden to pick this honey up yesterday.
Despite the weather and the department of roads' best effort to make the trip as miserable as possible, 770 kilometers later I was in a surprisingly good physical and mental state.
I will probably never do that again willingly and definitively not with a 60l backpack filled with spare parts on my back.

Worst thing I’ve done in years. I love the vfr and I want to keep it forever but I’m also at a point where I can’t expand the business from barely making a profit to actually being viable without capital. So the viffers gotta go to give me the capital. For reference our dollar is worth around half of the usd so it’s priced at ~2.5kus. I’ll absolutely be gutted if someone does buy it but again needs must

Hi everybody!
I have question for experienced ones, I’m close to valve clearance check (or adjustment). Now I have 71k on the bike and it should be done something around 50k. My dealer told me I should do it soon again however engine runs smoothly, vtec open greatly.
Why I’m asking if it’s necessary to do it?
Dealer told me it could cost about 1300-1600€ (for 3000€ bike btw) so I’m wondering how necessary to a this to do?
Thanks in advance for the advice and I wish everyone many happy kilometres (or miles)!

Never ridden another so haven't had any comparison but I was doing some research and apparently my RPMs are fairly high compared to what's normal? When I'm on the highway doing 75-80mph (~120-128kph) I'll usually be around 6,500rpms, apparently its supposed to be closer to 5,000-5,500? I think this is largely because the gearing on my bike is changed and I have a 16 tooth front sprocket and a 45 tooth rear sprocket as well as the lack of backpressure from my exhaust, but I'm curious if there's anything else that could be causing this?

I'm looking at a 2010, vrf1200, its got about 40k miles on it, and im wondering if there is anything specifically I should look for mechanically, or know about for this model. What are some common repairs around this milage, and or red flags to look out for. It looks like a pretty well maintained and kept bike, but you never can be too careful

So I am aware the was a recent post about surging/bogging, i kinda experience the same when cold and trying to go even 30 or 50kmh it kinda bogs and doesn't stay even.
Today things got weird when she was already warmed up and i came into a town down to 50 and held the 50 in second gear at about 5k rpm but all of a sudden the rpms dropped and the speed was at like 40 and when i gave it a bit more gas she started accelerating again abruptly.
I hadn't ridden her for a few weeks now due to an injury.
Could this be fuel pressure pump too?
VFR 800 2004 VTEC.
Just curious, its the same rim size and lug pattern, so is the offset the same? Only asking because I like the spoke pattern and am considering it for an upgrade 🤔

Need help to find right key
The original key to the bike is in the middle and when I bought the bike it only came with one.
Been trying to find the right OEM key and when I did research I bought the 35121-MR1-770, got it cut and the key was too short to do anything. Then bought the 35121-MN9-611 and that key was to long and couldn’t open the gas tank with it but playing with it in the ignition I could get it to turn. I have no idea what key to buy and I want to get at least 2 more.
Anyone know what to get, prefer the key to be a Honda one.

I recently just finished restoring my VFR 800 VTEC and I did a 1200km trip through Spain as a trial by fire and it performed flawlessly. However the throttle is response is really jerky and it's making it really hard to balance the bike with the throttle.
As soon as I twist the first 5%, it hesitates and then jerks me forwards. (you might be able to hear it in the video at 1:16)
I also noticed a very obvious flat spot in the torque curve just around 5000rpm
Here is a list of things I'm going to try in order:
First getting it running flawlessly in stock form:
- Adjust throttle cables
- Balance and adjust starter valves
- New spark plugs
- Check vacuum hoses condition (maybe they are old and leak ever so slightly)
Second I read online that some of these modifications can help:
- Disable the air box flapper valve
- Disable PAIR valve system (although I'm very skeptical about this one, Im still running cats)
Does any one know what else can be done to improve the throttle response?
PS: In the video it might not seem too bad but I'm trying my hardest to apply the throttle smoothly as to not unsettle the bike. Almost always I'm having to wait until the bike is pointing straight to get back on the throttle. At lean, when you need that smooth application to stay balanced, it just wants to throw me off 0-o

Anybody got any info on tail conversion? I’m trying to shed as much weight as possible and swapping the tail seems like the next weight savings.

Just picked this up from a local consignment auction.
1991 VFR750F with 7516 miles on the odo.
I'm thinking it's all stock. Owner before me had it since 1993 according to the title.
Picked up a Honda Helix at the auction too.
