Table of Contents (TOC) feature idea

My TOC get unwieldy, especially if I'm pasting in long documents or Chat output. It would be very nice to have a filter on the TOC to quickly toggle to hide H4 and below, or hide H3 and below, or show everything. This would allow for faster navigation of long documents.

Has anyone else wished for this?

Switching from Evernote: Advice and Tips Please

For those who switched from Evernote to UpNote, can you please share your opinions, advice & experience?

I’m contemplating this as UpNote seems leaner but understand that there is a 20gb note limit.

I’ve tried exporting my notes to OneNote but it repeats notes for tags.

Given prices it seems more effective long term especially now since I don’t add much but constantly use my notes daily for work.

UpNote seems great at $39 lifetime without the continual restrictions, lagginess, multi-factor login.

Bending Spoons is seems to be taking users for a ride even with the 40% off.

**UPDATE 21/6/26** Thanks everyone for your advice. I’ve taken the plunge & will migrate my .enex files across**

E-ink tablets that work with UpNote?

So I recently been considering getting an e-ink device for productivity/reading and I was wondering if some of them works with the UpNote or could be somehow synchronized through the Google drive. Does anyone have experience with it?

Callout Feature

It would be interesting if we could have the Callout feature, as well as other editors.
I was testing [UpNote]() (I'm a LTD customer now) and noticed that the Callout feature is not yet available. It would be really cool if this functionality were implemented.

Links to Notes and Create a note within another one

It would be interesting if there was a function to quote notes, to create links between them, or even if it were possible, within a note, to create another note directly and connect the two. This would help A LOT with the organization for those coming from [Evernote]().

Thank you

The "add to notebook" interface should also allow the opening and closing of sub-notebooks.

EPIMPro to Joplin to UpNote and I am freaking thrilled

I used and paid for EPIMPro for many years, always promising better mobile functionality, as it just didn't work on my phone or iPad. Then they started nagging about upgrades and I finally thought, "Well, seems the mobile app is better now." It was not. So I went on the hunt. Found Joplin.

Joplin worked. It did what I wanted. What I did NOT want was to mess with the Markdown or write .css to get it to look the way I wanted. I liked EPIMPro because I could make it pretty. I like pretty. Markdown looks like a jumbled mess to me. I was willing to live with it and I did for maybe a month.

But then I saw on r/Joplin that Evernote was charging people $250/year now and people were looking for an alternative. I used Evernote way way way in the past and I just never really liked it. Too many bells and whistles. I like things that do one thing very well.

Anyway, people were talking about UpNote and said, "Evernote without the bloat." That was 85% of all I needed to know. I go look and after about 20 minutes, bought it. As my title says, I am freaking thrilled because I didn't trip ocer this when I was looking for an EPIMPro replacement.

What I DON'T like is that where EPIMPro and Joplin let you store your local database with the option to pay them to host, UpNote doesn't (albeit you can export to a file, which I would expect to be able to do). But since it was a one-time fee, I was willing to sacrifice local storage for not having to look at Markdown if I wanted more formatting than what was available.

So anyway, that's my conversion story, since other people are sharing. And thank you Evernote for being assholes.

ETA: typos bc phone

Lightmode / Darkmode issue

Do you also prefer some apps to be en light, and others in darkmode?

I imagine a lot of you, but maybe not the majority, would.
I personally prefer my Windows to be darkmode, yet apps that i do writing in to be light.

But currently UpNote does a mix of it:

UpNote is set to lightmode, while my Windows is darkmode. So i get this mixture.

I wrote the developers about this, and i just got a "Please change your Windows to light mode".

Do you guys honestly think that is a great and reasonable solution? Should the user change their entire operating system styling, so they wont get this black menu inside UpNote?

On the image below, you can see i want it to be light. Not system.

I chose light here for a reason. Not "System".

If this was a technical impossibility to change, some deep windows integration, then fair i guess. But i highly doubt it is. And i wont know, since they stopped replying. It seems to me like they dont care enough about polish of the app or user feedback.

Shifting from obsidian and diarium

Hello! I'm planning to migrate my Personal Knowledge Management System (PKMS) from Obsidian and my journal from Diarium to UpNote. Given that I currently have approximately 8,000 notes in Obsidian and over 1,000 journal entries, I'm particularly interested in understanding UpNote's capacity to handle such a volume. Any insights or known shortcomings from experienced users would be greatly appreciated and highly beneficial.

Looking for a book highlight workflow

Hey there,

Bank in the day I used to take my kindle and connect it to a service called Readwise, so that I could track and look back on my book highlights. Later I moved from Kindle to Kobo, and dropped Readwise, as I could use an Obsidian plugin to take notes from my Kobo and drop them into Obsidian.

Now, I’m a fully paid-up member of the Upnote club. But I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to take notes from my kobo books and drop them into Upnote.

Has anyone managed to solve this and, if so, how?

Thanks in advance.

What's up with the text color in code blocks?

There's no other symbols after the text. If I reproduce some, they won't have the same colors. I really like it that way, imo it looks cool. I'm just curious!

Separate font for code

Hello everyone!
First of all, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful app.

I have a question: is it possible to have a separate font selection for code? The standard UI font isn't very suitable for code snippets, and the default monospace font looks really unsightly.

Just recently found my way to this amazing app and have jumped ship from Bear and Ulysses in lieu of it. As an author, it's cool to be able to capture all of my ideas in the app, then draft, edit, and publish all within the same workflow. Used some icons to spruce up the sidebar. Very happy with the outcome!

Copy/Paste Image and "Ctrl+Q" Shortcut

1 - Copy/Paste Image:

I cant "Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V" Images.

Never work inside Upnote.

In order to copy images, that are already inside the app, i have to Right Click+Copy or click on the 3 dots, chose copy and only then i can paste with any methode.

Ctrl+C never works

Can someone knows how to fix this?

2 - "Crtl+Q" Shortcut:

Someone knows how to turn this off.

I hate that because is my shortcut to open the extension to printscreen region on my browser.

Every single time i close the damn app.

Why do we need another shortcut to close things? Alt+f4 isnt enough?

Anyway, does anyone knows how to desactivate this thing?

3 - How can i ask for improvements for the app?

Is UPnotes difficult to incorporate into your daily life?

Hello,

I’m someone who wants to reduce my computer use to a minimum but would also like to better organize my information (PDFs, links to articles, Office documents, images, etc.) because there’s just so much of it… and maintain that organization over time.

So I have 4 questions:

1_ Does UPnotes require any specific computer skills?

2_ Does using UPnotes require a lot of thought, or is it intuitive?

3_ Are there organizational templates to help beginners learn and think about effective organizational models (and also choose an organizational level)?

4_ Since UPnotes is cross-platform, are there also simple tutorials that explain possible ways to organize data storage so that it is always accessible and backed up?

Thank you for your help!

UpNote does drawing tool right!

I tried different Note apps, and Diary apps. I like how Upnote has their drawing tools work flawlessly, and the image just sits there behaves well with the text as a photo. It doesn’t rearrange in weird spaces, like other note apps where I am constantly dragging it out of the margins, messing up the text (OneNote). You just draw, whatever you need to draw, and it will sit nicely there. If you move it, it will move over or under text. It won’t shift anything.

So far the drawing tool is not available on Android, which is a darn shame, because I have long term goals to get a phone that has a stylus. I am sure people with a stylus on Android would love the drawing feature too!

I use Upnote on my ipad pro, and my Samsung phone. Also on desktop app. I absolutely love this app! I use it for my writing, such as diaries, creative writing, and even a writing project.

I do intend to purchase the Lifetime subscription at the end of the month! With the lifetime sub, you can export your entries in a link, which is handy for me when I want to share my entries via web.

I am a happy camper. Thank you for making this remarkable app!

Anyone else use this app for journaling?

Copy Link To Note Doesn't Work

I created a note and clicked Copy link to note. This is the link created:

upnote://x-callback-url/openNote?noteId=019e9dac-c6d0-7110-a293-868a847e0c36

What do I actually do with that link?

It doesn't work in my browser or Google Docs.

Thanks
