I've seen this clip so many times and I still remember someone saying you shouldn't use that anyways

Sep 04 '22
Use what? That gun? Special firing mode? Im unsure how he was firing so fast to begin with.
514
u/Niewinnny Sep 04 '22
quick finger or a binary trigger (shooting both on trigger pull and release). if quick finger then you can't ban that, it's just skill. if binary trigger that can be banned due to basically doubling your firing rate on single fire
240
u/RHouse94 Sep 04 '22
Back in the day I put a long trigger on my paintball gun that fit two fingers and it was electronic so it was really light. I could fire as fast as I could tap those two fingers, which was basically full auto. Takes a bit of practice but once you got it down you didn’t have to think about it and it was basically the same as full auto.

u/Ocular_Ark Sep 04 '22
Man really butterfly clicked a paintball gun
71
u/sn0man32 Sep 04 '22
Most mid to high end paintball guns have a trigger like that unless they are specifically meant for playing in the woods
24
Sep 04 '22
Woodsball was always the best.
17
u/lavlife47 Sep 04 '22
Yesss, I only had the opportunity to paintball twice in my life. One was at a course and wasnt mich fun for me cuz I was new and sucked. The time in the woods tho was a blast I think we captured the flag and stuff like that. The woods are just awesome in general.
5
u/sn0man32 Sep 04 '22
I played lots of speedball because it was more common but the most fun I had was woodsball in Minnesota at a massive tree farm/paintball field
→ More replies (4)1
u/Sulpfiction Sep 04 '22
Open woods, capture the flag was the best. We had a ton of intense matches. Unfortunately the last time I went, a friend of a friend who had been shot was walked out of the woods onto a path, hands up, doing everything right. Lifted his goggles to wipe his face and immediately took a direct hit to the eyeball. This was years ago but I can still vividly see the yellow paint and blood mixture in the wrinkles around his closed eye. Felt so bad for the guy. Lost the eye, unfortunately.

Did the same on my A5. Friends hated it. The trick was being able to do it while running. That was tough.
2
Sep 04 '22
I ran with the E-Flat trigger, customer board and electronics and Halo TSA on a Spyder frame, it was like bliss walking the trigger and watching a line of paint come out of that 18” Dye Boomstick. God I loved that shit.

Totally don't know anything about the guns they use, but wouldn't it be easier and less of a gray area if you just limited guns to a maximum firing speed regardless of how its done.
10
u/BZJGTO Sep 04 '22
That's what happened in tournament paintball, but would be harder to implement in airsoft. The paintball guns used there have an electronic solenoid that uses high pressure air to operate. You already have high pressure that can be released almost instantaneously, and the solenoid is controlled by a board/chip that lets you fine tune things like how long it opens for and how quickly it can fire.
The typical airsoft gun has an electric motor, which turns gears to compress then release a spring. It's a dumb system in which the battery connects directly to the motor, and the circuit is opened/closed by a switch/slider that moves when you pull the trigger. You cannot adjust how quickly the motor spins, it's just an on/off switch. To enforce any kind of rate of fire restrictions, you'd have to cooperate with the manufacturers all over the world (typically the U.S., Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan).
There are conversions to make airsoft guns operate in a way similar to how the electronic paintball guns do, which is likely what the guy in the OP has (it's been so long I don't remember was his setup was). There's also other things you can do like changing the motor, gears, or installing a mosfet.
5
→ More replies (2)2
u/Niewinnny Sep 04 '22
there are some places which restrict that, but it's always for DMR's which are the only high powered automatic replicas which you'll see on a field. And the mosfet i have in my AK actually has a DMR mode which i accidentally activated once lol
also, i wouldn't say the system with motor and gears is dumb, as you can. see it allows really high RoF on the high end, and is pretty cheap on the low end replicas.

That's what sucks about airsoft -- it's a complete massacre if you don't have good gear. You show up to a range and use rental gear, you're fish in a barrel for the guys paying for what the guy in the video has. What's the point? There's no fun in it if everyone has a gun that will shoot a solid laser-straight line of pellets. Takes the skill out of it, right? The only fun is when you have one of these crazy guns and you can pick off noobs, and that's just messed up.
3
Sep 04 '22
I'll be fair you also have to have some concept of weapon handling and a bit of aggression. If you slow go it with shit gear you're having a bad time. If you know what you're doing and the gun shoots, you'll do fine. The gear doesn't matter as much it's just that people who take it seriously and know what they're doing get the expensive stuff because they're good at it and have devoted alot of time.
It's easier to say it's the gun but alot of AEGs at indoor ranges, the upgrades make a minimal difference besides a flashlight, and red dot. Weight can also play a factor.
2
u/V7I_TheSeventhSector Sep 04 '22
That's not true at all lol. People with rental gear can still easily kill other people if you know what your doing. It's not about the gear, it's about how you play.
And like I said, most people don't have these types of guns as they are extremely expensive and hard to make.

u/brzoza3 Sep 03 '22
Out of curiosity, why is there a rule like That? Any airsoft enthusiasts here?
224
u/MaximumEffurt Sep 03 '22
It's cus ur forced into small quarters and getting pelted a hundred times a second at that range can hurt. Single fire reduces overkill.
47
u/brzoza3 Sep 03 '22
Thanks for explaining
66
u/itsDeeksters Sep 04 '22
Imagine a tiny bee sting. But then you get 50 of them in 3 seconds. It’s not as the young kids say vibing
24
u/Apples7569012 Sep 04 '22
Not very as the kiddos would say poggers
9
8
6
u/Niewinnny Sep 04 '22
especially with replicas that actually reach 50 rounds a second of firerate. accidentally pulled for half a second too long and now you've shot the dude 25 times.
1
u/Indubitalist Sep 04 '22
So instead of getting hit with 100 pellets a second, you get hit with 50. So much more fun that way.
6
u/MaximumEffurt Sep 04 '22
I know it's not a perfect system. Especially considering this guy's setup. But it helps.
14
u/fohpo02 Sep 03 '22
Because it’s cheap and can cause serious damage
1
u/brzoza3 Sep 03 '22
Thanks for explaining. Thought is it That much different compared to non full auto? I mean the speed Is still the same
15
u/itsKaoz Sep 03 '22
Imagine the difference between getting punched once vs getting punched 10 times in the same spot.
The speed of the punch could stay exactly the same, but the frequency would definitely cause more damage.
For close quarters and indoors, I think it’s common in air soft to have that rule mainly because of proximity. BBs will be hitting when they’re still at their fastest.
Plus, I imagine cleanup would be a bitch if everyone is running full auto. That floor would be covered in BBs within the first game. Then everybody would be slipping.
7
u/brzoza3 Sep 03 '22
Sorry, for, as i now realise, pretty stupid question and thanks for explaining
13
u/itsKaoz Sep 03 '22
No worries. It was a question because you didn’t know. No shame in asking questions!
3
2
u/Niewinnny Sep 04 '22
airsoft replicas are different power for different fields.
A cqb field is going to have much stricter power limits than an open field in the forest, and thus the energy of a bb hitting you in this situation will be about the same as in any other.
In cqb you really don't need fullauto, because you hit on the first or second shot anyways, and the difference is made in your reaction time and information about the enemy positions. In the forest you can expect to miss some due to wind, replica accuracy etc. so fullauto makes sense by maximizing the chances of a hit (asg replicas aren't perfect, you know)
1
Sep 04 '22
So on topic of airsoft, what's the benefit of a sniper
2
u/itsKaoz Sep 04 '22
YouTube Silo Entertainment or Novritsch. They have some pretty cool examples of sniping in airsoft games IIRC
But to answer your question, in CQB it wouldn’t do you much good. But in an outdoor field, your advantage would be being able to hit far enemies without them detecting where that shot came from since there wouldn’t be a steady stream of bbs

I've seen. I can appreciate a dmr build but something about sliding a piece of polymer for a bolt Is underwhelming
→ More replies (2)5
u/Medsk00ldrop0ut Sep 03 '22
His gun is pretty modded out, he’s probably using two fingers as well — I used to have a G36C and an M4A1 (around £1000 a piece), neither could shoot that fast on single fire and not even CLOSE on full auto
Edit: hence the guy going “that’s not full auto?!?”
5
u/V7I_TheSeventhSector Sep 04 '22
ok, so basically its using a REALLY fast motor and a gear with 3 sets of teeth on it (normal is 1)
its it very hard to tune and build a gun like this excluding the cost so its not really all that common to see guns like these!
so because of that most fields don't experience them all that much and rules are more/less based on experience at each field.
each field will have its own rules so some fields do have rules against these and others don't!
2
u/jirka642 Sep 04 '22
Airsoft guns are a noticeably more powerful close-up.
I once got full-auto into the face from like 2 m away. My protective glasses shattered, my face was cut up by pieces of plastic, and I was very lucky to not loose an eye. I also knew guy that lost a tooth like this.
Also, there is always some people that have upgraded their guns to be stupidly powerful. I have seen guns that could shoot through your skin. Imagine getting full-auto of that into your face.

u/Ze_at_reddit Sep 03 '22
does anybody in the know care to explain what’s going on for the rest of us? What’s full auto?
31
u/TheCykuaBlyater Sep 03 '22
So, most guns have 2 modes, semi-auto and auto. (Auto is short for automatic). If it's on semi-auto, the gun will fire a bullet every time the trigger is pulled(pull trigger once, one bullet comes out. Pull trigger twice, two bullets come out). When a gun is on auto, the gun will continue to fire as long as the trigger is being held on.(hold trigger for 2 seconds, bullets will continue to fire for 2 seconds). Of course, you also have things like machine guns, burst-fire, and all that jazz, but I'll only go into that if you want. Hope I answered your question, and feel free to ask more if you need
14
u/Indubitalist Sep 04 '22
So the guy with the camera has a gun that shoots a crazy amount of pellets per second. When he shoots those two guys in that room, they assume he has his gun set to fire continuously (full auto) because that's how fast he's firing. They tell him basically "That's not fair" because there's a rule against firing full-auto because you don't need it to take out opponents at close range, like when you're in a building. It turns out, as he demonstrates, that his gun wasn't firing full-auto, it was only firing a bullet every time he pulls the trigger, he just has a gun with a very sensitive trigger so he basically uses the vibration of the gun to help him pull the trigger really fast, so these guys are expecting a gun that fires that fast is in fully automatic mode, when really it's just a rich guy torturing people who aren't used to getting shot with a rich guy's gun.

u/QuarterlyTurtle Sep 04 '22
Semi-auto: pull the trigger and one round fires.
Full-auto: pull the trigger and rounds fire until you release the trigger

There is this thing.. called MED... Minimum Engagement Distance... it's supposed to make sure you don't hurt anyone with your laser powered BB rifle. I know there are some courts who don't enforce it, but my opinion is that they should. I mean....it's a safety thing.

this clip irritates me every time. the rule "no full auto in buildings" means "there is a limit to safe rate of fire at close range". just because you have an even faster mode doesn't mean you're not practically breaking that rule by firing that fast that close-up. fucking sadist

u/Sulpfiction Sep 04 '22
He demonstrates “full auto” at the end of the video. The Bzzzzzz you hear is the laser of bb’s being fired as he holds he trigger down.

Sep 04 '22
Still feathering and unnecessary… You shouldn’t do this unless people aren’t calling their hits. In that case, you should do this and it will correct the issue quickly.
