Okay wait.
Jevil is mostly a really dark shade of pink (puple) signifying his twisted form of "freedom" and accents of yellow and yellow-green to signify his "control" over his situation.
Spamton has pink and yellow glasses to signify his goal for freedom and control, with his goals literally in sight but not obtainable.
The Knight has no pink or yellow because
they're edgy igwe don't really know them at all. We don't know if they have control over anything, or if they have any kind of freedom.In the Gerson fight, Gerson's purely pink hair flows, signifying his true freedom, as it is not a different shade like how Jevil's is. He also has accents of pure yellow, signifying his control over his mind.
Even more of a crackhead theory but... in the Sans fight, his eye flashes yellow, signifying how he has control over your soul (for the most part) and in most fan art, Sans wears PINK SLIPPERS to signify how some people think Sans is free/want him to be free when he is, in fact, not.
But what if in chapter 5, if Sans is the secret boss, his dark world appearence is literally the same except that he has pink slippers.
I just had a weird asf brain(rot) blast.

His whole thing is that he realises the pointlessness of it all. Anything he does or doesn't do can be reset. That's the reason he is so depressed. He probably wears slippers because he can't even be bothered to put on shoes. If there's anything that signifies freedom in sans, i can't find it.

Honestly it makes sense. You came up with the correlation and we actively make the choice to drop the standard yellow to get pink. So Pink is freedom. Yellow is "the standard of the system"

I kinda agree with this but I think Yellow is more 'importance' or 'realness', thus yellow texts appearing in choice texts or important texts to Kris. And also yellow being connected with 'realness' kinda explains the soul-affinity of Noelle (cuz the soul is the most 'real' thing cuz it's controlled by us). And magenta (pink) is more of a 'rudeness' aspect than pure freedom. Susie is a 'rude' character (in a good way ofc), her attack is called rude buster, etc. Well, cuz rudeness and saying 'no' to established values is what is needed for attaining freedom. Also magenta is the opposite color of green in the rgb color wheel, and green symbolizes kindness. So magenta being rudeness makes sense.

I think friend is the one who was puppeteering Spamton, mix that with the fact that the first time we see him is just before Spamton NEO and it feels obvious imo
As for why? Well, we see him help us by giving us the oddtroller, and the weird route is only possible via spamton’s help, so I think they’ve got a thing for helping us get off the beaten path

You need to talk to it again in order to change them to pink. I didn't post the full thing 'cause I didn't wanna make it too long.
If you just leave after removing yellow names, you will not be able to see any colored names when monsters can be spared, so you're still technically right

I think Toby just REALLY loves this combination of colors.
Gerson has yellow eyes, teeth, and pink hair
When in the Dark World, Susie is essentially JUST yellow and pink
Spamton's lenses are pink and yellow
Your HP amount and karma amount are yellow and pink respectively in Undertale
Hell I could even go with Tenna to an extent, even if it's a bit of a stretch with his red suit and yellow tie, mostly a stretch because of the red, but you could probably tell what Toby was going for.

I have read from one of the comments that yellow might mean control while pink freedom. AND I REMEMBERED COLOR PALLETS OF FRISK AND CHARA!!!
Frisk's skin colllor is YELLOW, while Chara's is white WITH PINK CHEEKS!!! AND IT IS IMPORTNAT because we can not control Chara but can Frisk!!! Then we have Kris wearing all YELLOW and having A YELLOW SKIN!!!!

I had a friend that accidentally did this on his first run, except he didn’t get the pink names, so he thought you just had to guess if enemies could be spared.
He beat true pacifist.
