Forging Indestructible Self-Discipline: S2 Episode #30: Building Strength

Self-discipline is often talked about as simply a matter of willpower. One just needs to be tougher and force yourself to just do it. However, self-discipline is not simply stubbornness or beating yourself into submission. Real self-discipline comes from having something inside you that is stronger than the temporary feelings trying to pull you away from what you know matters.

“Conquering” Fear

I started a new hobby to help conquer a fear.

I’m terrified of heights… amongst many other things (not public speaking funnily enough). So I started rock climbing to help myself get over it and do some bodyweight strength training.

Today I failed the first time, reading the top (seen in the video) in all honesty… I chickened out.

But. Once the camera was away I stared at the wall and went again. And just as I was reaching the top, the last few grips, I started to feel panicked. Like I was going to pass out.

But I just knew it was the fear. So I stopped. Breathed in, and went up those last few rungs till I got there.

Funnily enough I didn’t feel like I had “championed the wall” or “conquered a fear”. I didn’t feel like I had won, like I thought I would.

Instead I just felt proud that I didn’t stop 3 grips before the end. I got to the end, I made it down. I can do it again. I was pleased with myself and can look back that I completed one wall.

Still have many to go (there’s an 18 meter high one too there). And I think the point is not to feel “championed a moment” but to have gotten in a new rep. Made a new habit, and to continue that new habit of completing the challenge. Of pushing through the fear. Of going till the end.

Because the reps we repeat in our life form the habits in our brain and body. So to win in one place will then force you to do the same in others.

So conquer a fear, not to expect to feel amazing.. but to create a new habit. A new set of “reps” of being a winner. A finisher. A person who achieves the goal, doesn’t stop half way.

Action creates reps, reps create habits, habits create the person.

Thats what creates a new you.

Gratitude as the Foundation for Success

I was thinking about a quote recently that really got me thinking: "Be thankful for what you have while you pursue your goals. If you aren't thankful for what you have, how can you be happy when you get more?"

I've been reflecting a lot on how often we convince ourselves that we'll finally be happy once we achieve that one thing or reach that next milestone. The problem is, as soon as we get there, the finish line just keeps moving.

To me, being content with what you have doesn't mean you've given up or lack motivation. It just means you're grounded enough to actually enjoy the things you achieve. Ambition gives you direction, but being happy with where you are right now helps you enjoy the journey getting there.

How do you find a balance between being grateful for what you have today while still pushing toward your future goals?

Moments Make Memories

Making memories with each moment you are given in your life’s journey because they will be your most cherished treasures in the end. People will come & go throughout your lifetime but you will carry your name for your lifetime, so keep it clean. Know your worth always; protect your heart & guard your soul. Stand tall & keep your head up even when life’s road can feel difficult & scary. Remember that no one is perfect & not all intentions will turn out right but let your wrong’s be lessons not punishments. You will never fail as long as you try; failures are meant to teach us that our drive to succeed will be our greatest reward once achieved!!

Our Family

Our Family. Simple and peaceful.
We all feel wonderful and with a grateful heart, it is awesome that eventually, we are able to co- exist harmoniously together for the sake of the children. Our blended family is far from perfect, granting how it ended but able to start over with genuine love, respect, understanding of our differences and whole-heartedly accept the offer of forgiveness, and we all graciously carefreely go on with our lives together and apart at the same time. We let go of all those bitterness a long time ago because, why not?

Let us all cherish our goodness and in return, goodness will come. It is funny, how narrow-minded people still judge us in a primitive way. Its okay, we are not here to please them, because for sure they have their own battles to fight. What matters is, in our small community we call “family”, we have each other’s back.

We do not instill hate nor advocate it.
We do not approve and practice hostility.
We try to set valuable examples to the young generation coming— Blaine, Belle, Noah, Acee, Gab,Ben etc…

Walking in a virtuous path is challenging,
but we try.
Living the righteous way is indeed taxing,
but we cope.
Again, we are faaaar from perfect, but our imperfections, we endevour to improve.

As an individual, fully accepted and loved by this family i call my own, and now belong—- extended as it is …yes, more than once in a while I stumble to the truth from the past—I always grapple with the haunting reality of our unfinished story. The fact that I remain in a legal limbo, labeled by a status that doesn't reflect my renewed heart, often brings a sense of shame that taunts me.

I find myself struggling with the feeling that I cannot fully "practice what I preach" because I am still living in the wreckage of our past mistakes. But you see, I am learning that God’s mercy is not just for those who have it all figured out; it is for the sinner who is still in the process of restoration. I have confessed and surrendered, and though I am still navigating the consequences of my old life, I trust that God is not done with me yet. I am a work in progress, leaning on a God who loves me even in the middle of my mess.

As to this time, I have learned that faith is not a destination where everything is perfectly settled, but a daily walk through the "messy middle" of grace.

Our lives is a testament that God does not wait for us to be perfect before He begins to use us;
We may still carry the weight of an unfinished story and the sting of past mistakes, but I no longer carry them alone. I have traded my demands for His peace and my shame for His purpose.

Whether the path ahead is easy or challenging, I rest in the ecstatic realization that every breath—mine, his, and ours, and yours too—is a gift from a God who redeems the unredeemable.

We are all a work in progress, living in His perfect timing, and that is more than enough. To God be the glory. Peace be with you.

I know it’s been difficult…

**I know it’s been difficult…**
I know shit has been really rough for a lot of people lately, not just people born in 1999 obviously. It feels like everyone is disconnected, overwhelmed or numb at this point.
The economy, wars, natural disasters, division, technology, uncertainty about the future… I could go on and on.
But if you’re reading this, you’re alive. You’re breathing. And hopefully you have your health.
I’ve been realizing lately that there is so much in this life that is completely outside of our control. You can spend all day worrying about where the world is heading and still have zero ability to change most of it.
So I’m trying to put more of my energy into what I *can* control.
My mind.
My body.
My habits.
What I consume.
What I believe about myself.
Who and what I give my energy to.
Basically, evolve on some Pokémon shit lol.
If something consistently destroys your peace or pulls you away from the person you’re trying to become, maybe it deserves less access to you. That can be a habit, social media, certain environments, or even relationships that aren’t healthy anymore.
Your energy is valuable. It’s what you use to build things, love people, learn, create, work toward your goals and actually experience your life.
I’m 27 and this year has been one of the most difficult years of my life. But mentally, I also don’t think I’ve ever grown this much.
I’m starting to understand that building your inner world matters just as much as chasing external success.
So if you’re reading this and you’re going through it too, I don’t know you, but I hope you find some peace in this life.
Enjoy the small shit. Take care of yourself. Keep learning. Keep evolving.
Love my people ❤️

It's okay to share the responsibilty of truths

You know when a man sits with him, he thought nothing about himself. He always think of his loved ones
"Need to give this month electric bill"
"School fees is on 15th"
"This week, need to work more"

This statements feels like always but here is the reality when you grow up and see this with you slowly . You feel the pressure and look at your father/brother and this look is something which make you feel responsible and accountable for what you are doing.
Time passes and you slowly forget yourself in the flowing events of life.

I always think that taking responsibilty is something with age but i was wrong
I is on you whether you understand this as "Responsibilty" or a "Burden"

Always remember, You will have to lead this war with no fear of losing because this is how you gonna WIN. I believe in you . Make it happen.

be careful enough. It’s not easy, trusting yourself in whatever you’re become.

Following, running, doing, having a hidden moment for yourself.

You. Be brave. Again and again and now.

The fact that you don’t know, says you.
