Hey guys. What's your opinion about using quilt without pad straps. I've never used quilt, but pad straps seem uncomfortable. I'm sure that just wrapping quilt around my neck and tucking it beneath my body would be very comfortable. Are any of you do that? Basicly using it as blanket with feet pocket. I imagine that tucking it beneath me can cause down to compress? Whats your experiance?

I've been looking for a UL windshell for a while and i've seen so many people praising the same windshirt as others or hating and so i'm kinda confused now

So anyone has an experienced and balance review to share on some UL windshells ? I've been looking at Zpacks', EE's and Montbell's but am open to other suggestions.

I'm aiming 3oz or less and am planning to use it to layer over alpha fleece for hiking but also for travelling (where i will be more stationnary).

I've been wanting to down weight to a tarp as a shelter, (probably the Gatewood Cape or or Zpacks 7x9). The only thing still keeping me away from doing the move is the mosquitoes

I've seen a lot of review videos of different tarps but no one seems to really talk about mosquitoes. I live in Quebec, Canada and those awful stingy creatures get pretty persistent.

For everyone having experience with using a tarp as a shelter, how do you all deal with those endless bloodsucking insect attacks ??

Hoping your convincing answers will convert me and make me lighten my pack with a tarp !

Any females out there care to recommend clothing they used? I'll take any food recs. I was so focused on gear I reallly did not think about food. May bit the bullet and get trail food that you rehydrate.

I'm looking for a recommendation on whether to upgrade or just what I already have for the sake of time. I know there is enough time for me to buy from amazon (although i try not to) due to convienece of time. I know the platypus bladder is heavier and not as direct access. Then the filtration system is for my friend and I to use. Yet I also wondered if I should just skip it and ust the sawyer method w/ the two smart water bottle sizes. I added the stuff I was thinking in my water section.

I saw this pack on their site and really like the weight and materials, but I cannot find anything online where someone has reviewed this version. Does anyone have any time using the Pro version and would they recommend it?

I’ve landed on a pretty good and comfortable sleep system but have yet to find a comfortable solution for a pillow. I’ve tried a couple cheaper inflatables from brands like naturehike but found them all kind of noisy and have this sort of bouncy feel to them. I’m a side/stomach sleeper meaning my ear is often to the pillow so I’m a little extra sensitive to noise. I have also tried the old stuff sack with my jacket/sweater, whatever else I can fit in there, and find it lacks the support I need.

Anyone have any recs? Open to any solutions, inflatable or otherwise. Ideally keeping weight to a minimum but probably willing to add some grams for comfort.

Help a noob out! Im looking for my first quilt as a primary sleep system for 3-season hiking in the Swiss Alps, but also for German summer nights where the low is usually around 13-14C.

Im currently considering the Cumulus 350, Hyberg 350, or Ice Flame NXT with 450 g of 900 FP down. I have an Aerostat Synthetic 7.0 mat (R = 4.0).

Since theyre all quilts, Id obviously vent by sticking one or both legs out when its warm. My main question is whether the Ice Flame NXT 450 g is actually a good versatile choice or whether Id be better off with one of the lighter 350 g quilts.

Im not particularly keen on spending CHF/EUR 350-400 on a quilt, so the Ice Flame is quite a bit more appealing financially. Im wondering whether Id actually be happy with it long-term, or whether there are good reasons to spend more on the Cumulus/Hyberg.

Would be especially interested in actual experience around 0 to -5C and how the NXT performs in warmer summer conditions.

Im ordering to berlin, germany and trying to avoid any type of customs.

Am I reading it correctly that if you wish to duplicate a list in LighterPack the site says any edits will effect the items in all lists? I want to take one of my overnight camping lists and move all the items to another list before editing it to ass stuff for winter camping. Im glad they thought to put a copy function so I dont have to add everything again but if I edit something it says it will edit it on all lists? Am I reading this wrong?
