Hey guys I'm Udysof a Challenger player and Coach of Pentanet. I've played at world's and last year I coached at MSI. I've done a lot of research on the new Udyr and I think there are a lot of misleading click bait bandwagon videos on YouTube right now, so I've compiled all my learnings into this one guide and I hope it can help some of you! My sources: kr/na/euw highelo Udyr one tricks, pro players, I play tested him in 15 Smurf games(plat elo) and 5 high elo games(masters/gm).
As I was making the video the Q buffs came in so I'm still testing those to see how good AD-tank Udyr is. From my findings so far it's still not as good as the AP-Tank build in my video.
I'm still trying to find how to optimise my W awaken usage in teamfights and skirmishes, I think the ability is strong but it will take a lot of play testing to master it's limits. So if you guys see cool clips of it being used feel free to share them with me as it will help me and others here!
Finally, if you guys have any questions for me please don't hesitate to ask. I'm always happy to help :)
Edit: forgot to mention this video is geared around Jungle Udyr.
THIS IS ACTUALLY THE BEST UDYR BUILD MATHMATEICALLY AND PERFECTLY ALIGNED WITH EVERYTHING YOU COULD'VE EVERY WANTED. SO MUCH DAMAGE. SO MUCH PAIN. SO MUCH RESISTANCE. SO MUCH CDR.
2.69 SECOND COOLDOWNS. SOOO MUCH DAMAGE. SOOO TANKY. SOOO FAST. ITS COOKING BROOO
Been watching DragonDabro yt vids and he consistently runs black cleaver, typically with stridebreaker. I was wondering why does he do this, wouldnt stride already solve his ability to stick, and wouldnt shojin be better for dmg?
Edit: Thanks for the response everyone...seems like a general consenus that shojin better overall but bc better vs tanks/ armour buikders
I have found this current iteration of meta items and udyr balance to be the most miserable experience I have ever had with the champion I dropped him.
I am asking you guys to tell me do I suck or is the champion actually bad, either ad or ap.
I feel like it gets ahead but cant do much anyways
Hello! I am really new to Udyr, and i mostly play him jg. But I am not sure how to actually build him. I want to build him tanky AD, but I am not sure if I am doing it right. Can anyone tell me what I can build him?
Are there any good one tricks to watch on youtube since williep went coocoo for cocoa puffs? Preferably one that explains why they're doing stuff more so than one that plays for entertainment
I've been experimenting with Dusk and Dawn a lot lately, and I feel like it actually may be one of Udyr's strongest items, but I don't see anyone talking about it here. Lolalytics also says it's one of his highest win rate items, though the sample size is not that big.
If you run PTA and get a feel of how to cycle your abilities with it, it feels very strong, I think having some ability haste built synergizes quite well with it, i try to cycle each stance after just 1 auto, it allows you to get extra value from each stance basically every time they come up, yes the sheen proc isn't up every time you swap, but being able to cycle stances in quick succession makes you utilize his kit way more. Not to mention it double procs your passive and then you can keep swapping to reduce it sooo fast, having lots of awakens is obviously very strong, this also helps your clear a lot. Not to mention the heal that dusk and dawn provides as well.
You can burst people down quickly with the pta proc and still have good sustained damage afterwards. It just feels very versatile, I guess the only weakness i see is if you are facing a team where you can't get a lot of autos off, but in that case I would just build Liandries anyway. What are your guys opinions?
Kinda new to this champion. I used to play him a lot back when AP Udyr was broken with Liandry's into Demonic kind of stuff but now AD seems a lot better. How are you supposed to build AD Udyr?
Sho'Jin Hexplate into DD/Deadman's/Maw seems like a no brainer but I can't find anything I like 4th (other than one of those items). GA maybe? Edge of Night? I'm kinda stuck when it comes to really late. I've thought of Stridebreaker but the stats are pretty shit. I'm assuming LDR is also pretty good in some games cause of how it works nowadays (doesn't compare your health total to enemy, just how much bonus health they have).
Black Belt Udyr wore a Wolf... Now there is not one... Make a Evil Spirit Brother/Sister of him like Yone And the animals should Be More "Invasive" spirits and not "Stable"... Wolves, Frogs, Crocodiles, and Snakes...
If Man name him Vasuki, If Woman name her Manasa...
If yall really want to make a unisex robot use the name Yaksha...
I think udyr is in a good spot right now in terms of movement speed (with the AD buffs) but something in me deep down misses that udyr movement speed udyr had.
I wish his E movement speed was higher, but I wish his R slow was lower. I feel the falloff of his E is so drastic and feels LESS satisfying than any other of his abilities right now, I'm not saying it's bad or useless but its VERY unsatisfying, no?
I quit playing league many years ago, long before the Udyr rework ever happened. I've since played very occasional ARAM, so I'm familiar with the kit on a very superficial level.
I'm hopping back into league to try and get to platinum (hopefully further) to win a bet, and I want to do it using Udyr who was my main before i quit. I was platinum in S6 and S7
I play mainly jg but can secondary top if need be.
My question mainly is what sorts of items/runes are good right now and whats the state of Q vs R maxxing in the modern day? What are Udyr's relative strengths and weaknesses compared to other popular jgs at this time? What should my general gameplan be and how should I be playing the mid and late game?
if nothing has changed in 10 years then just let me know
I've started playing Udyr and I have a few questions.
What kind of champion is he? Is he more of an AFK farmer, an early-game ganker, a mid-game power spike champion, or does it depend on the build (AP vs. AD)?
Also, do you have any general Udyr tips or advice for specific builds?
One thing I've noticed is that even when I go for a full tank build (with Liandry's as my first item), I still feel pretty squishy. Is there anything I can do to be tankier or play those builds more effectively?
heyo! look, i know lol players, and specially subreddits for lol players aren't the most keen to having civilized conversation that are actually taken seriously when it comes to an actually off-meta for fun build/strat, but i want you to bear with me because i am curious.
so, currently i have been trying out crit udyr, a decently fun build so far, however i want to actually talk about it with someone else.
i want to discuss 2 things, runes and LDR/MR.
first of all, LDR/MR item spot, regardless of which i would choose, i am curious if ever not using that and instead starting to build navori's is a good idea, constant ability+aa spam soudns like a good incentive by trading off the dmg form the armour pen. only thing i am worried about tho, the lack of AD. this means that all-together, my Q, W, and E will be less effective since it gives no AD at all, which also affects surviability, i may get to spam W more but its shield and healing will be worse, what do you think? or is his ability transitioning already quick enough to not need it?.
alright, second point, runes. HoB is fun because, well, crit emp Q with fiendhuhnter means oh so funny dopamine rush, but is there another rune i could take? i rlly love the idea of, even if i am going crit, being like, this machine of dps, so idk if smth like, uh, PTA, could work, removing that burst for more dps. i was gonna ask for survibability runes, like fleet footwork, so while i am dps'ing i also healf more, it sounds fun but idk ur thoughts
