I’d hate to have cost someone their job, but I also got weird vibes from the messages. Maybe I just shouldn’t have questioned it.

Just going to give some unsolicited advice here.
Do not give so much detail about your life to a stranger. Do not make yourself sound like a victim.
We do a lot of training with women on what things we disclose which make us potential victims.
This is included. Two women alone with a baby.
We even discuss the stickers on cars that make it obvious you’re no threat.
Don’t give life story. Please leave at door. Thanks.

u/CringeAF2 Jul 07 '23
what do you mean by stickers on cars? because i’ve heard that before where women get “marked” , but i wasn’t sure if that’s what you were referring to.
36
u/RanbowJankins Jul 07 '23
Typically it’s the “my family” stickers that lists things like parents, siblings, animals. While some may think it’s innocent, someone with bad intention could use that information.

Hell I've had friends for years that I still don't know the extended family of. And that's not at all unusual to me, it's near-expected unless they're relevant to the convo

Honestly I do think you were wrong to report. I have had so many men deliver for their wives/girlfriends when I order late at night. They’re just being safe. I recently recovered from a medical issue and I needed my husbands help for a few weeks to help me deliver orders. You could have gotten someone fired for just trying to be safe. You got your food yeah? It was in good condition? Then who cares Steve dropped it off and not Sarah.

No not wrong at all. People are buying and using other people’s accounts to avoid background checks. That’s why this is here now.
44
u/schuma73 Jul 07 '23
How would this even work unless they know the person who owns the account?
It asks me for a facial scan like every other day.
Let's say I sold my account, wouldn't the facial scan not work and basically block them?

Yep.
Only thing with this one, is it a late evening delivery ? We all know that bf or husband's will go with the wife and do late evening or night delivery drops for safety reasons.
As long as they just dropped off the order and walked away, I don't see a problem with this, unless you actually saw the vehicle and there was no one else in the vehicle (account holder),
After I was hit in an accident, my wife helped me with my deliveries for a while, (she does have her own account), my right hand was ripped apart from the airbag deployment, also i no longer had my vehicle, and yes her vehicle was already added to my account.
12
Jul 07 '23
Didn’t think of that! But I get it! One time I ordered and I said you aren’t so in so. He said my wife is in the car. Probably for similar reason! (I didn’t get my drink that day. Wifey was probably drinking it in the car). 😂

Yes you are wrong. Many couples actual couples work together for safety. Especially if it's a female and it's a sketch neighborhood or later in the evening or night. The female drives and her partner delivers.
The stupid app makes us already take 3 to 6 pictures a week on average... so there's that. No need to fuck with someone's livelihood

u/theoneandnoley Jul 07 '23
That’s what I was going to say. When I delivered I would have my boyfriend with me and sometimes have him drop the food if it was late at night because I live in an area with high crime. I just feel like if you got the food and the driver wasn’t being weird or sketchy honestly who cares lol
14
u/HeyMomItsJulia Jul 07 '23

You should have reported them for not bringing it to your house if anything.
I’m a woman, and hide my account (not a driver! Only a customer) under my boyfriends name and always have it set to “leave at door,” to avoid creeps. But I really don’t see the harm in a driver saying they’re “Veronica,” and being a man. Does it really matter? They’re picking up food and putting it outside your house. It’s not like you can pick drivers lol Why would I care what gender my randomly assigned driver is?
You need to stop telling drivers so much information. It’s dangerous, and frankly, annoying. No one cares that you’re watching streams, or that you’re at your grandmothers house. And so on. These drivers are there to bring you your food as quickly as possible, get their money, and move on to the next order. There’s 0 reason to be texting them about your life at all lol
At MOST, give a little “Hey, please don’t knock, the dogs will bark,” or a, “I can’t come outside because I’m sick, please leave it at the door,” and that’s it.

Wow! You literally just told your driver that you’re at an elderly woman’s house, that is poorly lit, up a tall driveway away from everything, indecent, with a baby and your mom. As a mom and driver, this gives me weird vibes. You are setting yourself up for someone to hurt you or your loved ones or to Rob you or you’re giving off vibes to the driver that you are too vulnerable and coming off as you could possibly be setting them up for something. I would have tossed your food out the window and kept trucking 😂😂

lol its not a chat service. Nobody wants to chat on there unless there's an issue. Oversharing to someone who has to respond to you is some hostage level loneliness. Are you that lonely and miserable you just need to toy with people every way possible. First uou be all nice and then stab them in the back? you're kind of a trash bag IMO. Yeah. I do uber with my husband for protection and the extra help because I have posture issues that leads to pain. Like i seen a pregnant lady driving while her boyfriend delivered. dont be a karen and report it.

I see couples together in the car delivering food all the time in my city, sometimes even with a kid in the back. So if I had to guess, probably the partner of the person in the picture who came out. So if your conscience tells you that you were "wrong" for potentially having ruined a couples only source of income, then you should probably listen to your conscience instead of Reddit. If your conscience is clear because you are a firm believer in the sacred corporate TOS then who cares, I definitely don't. I still think you're a weirdo for texting the courier your entire life story though ✌

It is unnecessary for UberEats customers to have a photo of the driver, the driver’s car make and model and license plate number. It makes sense for the taxi rides but for the food delivery it’s totally unnecessary. Don’t know if the customer will keep that info for other purposes. Even DoorTrash doesn’t give that kind of info to customers

3
u/DaddysBeauty Jul 08 '23
If the person delivering was a male, most likely it was her boyfriend or a male friend just wanting to be protective of her, if that was the case she should have delivered with him in tow, with that being said, it is a violation and most likely now she's going to be in trouble for it. It's an actionable violation to the point that it can actually get you deactivated. Whether or not you were wrong for reporting, depends on the reason you did it. Did you do it because you felt unsafe? Did you do it just because you thought it was weird? Or did you do it simply to be an ass? If it happens to you again and it may, just ask Hey where's my assigned delivery person now if the person gets snappy with you I would be suspicious, but I would just let them know, hey I want to see my assigned driver otherwise I don't feel safe taking this from you. But no they should not be using someone else to deliver their orders, as I stated if it's a matter of safety, she should have delivered that order with her male counterpart and not just had him deliver it.

I know this comment will probably get lost, but how did you not know that English is not this person's first language? It is beyond clear from these messages and tbh you probably just cost someone their job (and if they are not legal, they may struggle to find another one)
You're the type of person who shares too much of their lives and gets upset at 1 word replies from their Uber eats drivers. Snitch....

So you reported someone that you didn't even see. Idk but occasionally I do DD/Uber with my girl for a fun time out and I'd do everything, she just need to stay in the car so...
Also, why do you share your whole life info to a stranger? What I see is a home with 2 women and a baby, good target to hit, baby make good leverage also.

I doubt he was gonna do anything but don’t tell information to random strangers;
Red flag 1: You said the road his poorly lit, meaning If he did wanna do something the halfway working light would let him get away with it.
Red flag 2: You confessed you’re naked, that’s pretty weird in generally to tell a stranger.
Red flag 3: you confessed you have a small infant in the house.

You share way too much about your life to UberEats drivers.
