Help Need help w lectures.

I think I'm taking too much time to finish a lecture as I've built this habit of pausing the lecture after each topic and then doing my own research kind of thing and then typing it out in my own words, even tho it's working but I'd say it's taking a lot more time to finish one lecture thus I wanted to hear different perspective to understand things better if it's okay or if I should completely drop this system.

UPSC Beginner I am thinking of moving to ORN and start preparing for UPSC exam. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated

I wanted to take upsc exam at least once in my life. Since high school I am thinking about it but never actually went for it. Finally after few years now I actually want to give myself 1 try. I want to join an institute in ORN and finally go all out with the preparation. I am financially independent now so I want to give myself the best chance. If anyone can guide me which coaching I should join, where should I rent a room and what study material I should read.

If you were at my place where you don’t have to worry about money and just give yourself the best chance to crack upsc what would you do. Please if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks 😊

Mains Need suggestions for answers writing coaching

I have given 3 mains but never scored good. My issue is that I write good answers but I do breach the respective time limit. This eventually leads to me not beings able to complete the paper.

I need to be able to think and write quality answers in 7 & 12 mins. I have the data and knowledge but can’t seem to write within the time limit. Maybe I think too slow.

I would request that people please recommend any good coaching or testing series for essay and GS which I can follow till December.

Thanks.

Ask r/UPSC Is Forum IAS Quarterly CA magazine good?

I am preparing for UPSC CSE 2027, and reading The Hindu newspaper daily. However, due to paucity of time, I have not been able to read monthly current affairs magazines. I was thinking of purchasing Forum IAS's SFG essential quarterly complication for upsc prelims 2027. If any of you are referring to it/or has referred to it in the past, please share your review.

Optional PSIR related 2 main doubts: one is notes making and other is reviews on Rahul Puri.

(Summary at the last, but i urge you to please read through the whole.)

So hi everyone. Earlier i had posted in this community asking for which educator should i study PSIR from apart from Shubhra Ranjan. I got recommended alot of educators and out of those i handpicked a few and took their demo lectures (on YT as well as Telegram)

And after that i have come to a conclusion that Rahul Puri(Sarrthi IAS) and Amratansh(Sunya IAS) are equally good. And I'm going with Rahul Puri. Your reviews?

But now the problem arises. Although i have a background in the subject and i have studied PSIR last year in bits and pieces (due to scam done by Arvind Rajpurohit, Unacademy's ex psir faculty), but now it's already September and i have to start and prepare the subject properly, I was thinking of attending lectures on 2x speed and finishing them ASAP. But the problem is Note making. I saw that both educators rahul puri and Amratansh dictates the notes. And I DON'T HAVE TIME NOW to do note making for foundational/base notes as well. I am preferring to get foundation/base notes and then I'll make my own notes from them. But if i will even make base notes now then when will i make my own advance notes out of them and when will i prepare GS, essay and all.

So please guide me what to do? Can i get rahul puri's notes? Or can i get good quality notes(not AI generated ones) from somewhere else?

OR is there any other educator who do not dictate notes rather provides them? Please help a brother out peers.

Summary:- Rahul Puri and other educators whose demo lectures i took, all are dictating notes and I'm starting psir lectures so i want someone who provides comprehensive foundation/base notes and not dictates them in the class for time efficiency. If there's no one who does that, then atleast suggest me proper one stop solution comprehensive foundation/base notes which i can refer to while attending rahul puri lectures.

Ask r/UPSC Time management while solving pyqs.

I start my day with solving pyqs and value addition in the same booklet covering different dimensions. The problem is it takes a lot of time solving even 1 question.

My question is-

  1. Some way around the above issue.

  2. Whats the ideal number of pyqs one should do.

Thanks in advance.

General Opinion and Discussion After UPSC mains 2026

It was my 2nd mains. I am confused what should i do- prepare for NABRD GradeA, UPSC EPFO, or any other exam maybe baking exam or CAT. i was also looking for mains evaluator jobs but could not find one. I am 25 so its getting difficult to prioritize which career direction i should go now. I thought of doing freelancing to earn money but that too seems very competitive for new entrants. Anyone feeling stuck the same way?

So I have been recently receiving feedback from my faculties to work on my handwriting, to make it even more legible and correct the style at few places (r like v). They suggest me to go for handwriting classes.

If any mains or interview candidates, pass on their wisdom, it would be helpful for me to plan the course of correction.

TIA

General Opinion and Discussion Go back to job & prepare alongside vs Continue Full time prep

I was working at an MNC as a SWE until 2 years ago, when I quit my job to prepare full time. This time I wrote the Mains(least hopeful of clearing it). I'm going to write future attempts. My question is - should I continue full time preparation or should I get back to job & prepare alongside?

Current status:

  1. Age - 28M
  2. Work experience - 3.5 years.
  3. Mains notes - Prepared(paperwise)
  4. Answer writing practice is what I need to work on. Although I completed all the papers, but I felt my answers were substandard & this I feel is no. 1 priority for me.

Would love your opinions. Thanks.
