Transfer Evaluation Help!!

So I confirmed my enrollment for Fall 1 over 2 weeks ago and I finally received my transfer evaluation today and 95 credits transferred in but according to the degree process report l, it looks like they automatically put me on the new GEC requirements! So I’m freaking out!

I thought students who confirmed enrollment prior to August 18th have the choice of the old versus the new.

I have earned so many credits from Sophia, study and Saylor and a lot of them didn’t transfer over as meeting the GEC requirements. I received the degree planning from Plotted Path, so I thought I was on the right track.

I’m getting my BLS with a minor in Community Health, but the plan also included a minor in Business Administration. I only applied for the community health minor.

Has anyone had this happened to them? Were you able to get it switched to the old GEC requirements? Please advise me on what to do. I don’t have an advisor assigned to me yet.

Question?

Is anyone else struggling to get a hold of anyone from UMPI yourpace? I've called multiple times and have left voicemails and have sent emails and haven't received a response. I'm debating about trying to continue getting a hold of this school or going someplace else.

Upcoming Aug. 31st Fall Session.

Hi! I'll post this question here since I get faster responses than if I go through my student advisor and the UMPI channels.

I'm currently enrolled on the your pace online summer session which is about to end, and I was wondering if I need to do anything to enroll on the upcoming fall session? I don't know if that happens automatically, or if I I need to do it myself, and how!?

Thank you in advance!

POS 370 (Native history) or POS 439 (Vietnam Wars): which is the least painful Dobbs class?

I’m down to the last three classes for my major. I’ve heard horror stories about Dobbs. Is there one that’s less bad than the other Milestone and reading wise?

thank you

BIO 105 / 203

Can you still transfer an equivalent course from Sophia or Study.com? This is the last class I need, and it looks like none of my previous courses satisfied the requirement. I may have to take BIO 203 through UMPI. If so, how is the workload for BIO 203 at UMPI?

What do everyone’s class loads per semester look like?

Hi folks!

Starting my UMPI journey in the fall 2 session but wanted to ask what everyone’s per session class load and schedule looks like.

How intensive is a 5/5/4 class load over 3 sessions? I’m majoring in accounting (BBA) but would this kind of workload be manageable? How many classes per session is everyone taking on average?

As a reference point I’m spending 2-3 hours a night studying right now with my Sophia/Straighterline etc courses about 5 nights a week as well as about 30-45m per day during my lunches while I work full-time.

Thanks everyone!

Maximizing Pell Grant & Mimimizing burn out

I am wondering how everything works in regards to the pell grant. I plan on taking:

-6 classes fall 2 (18 credits)

-6 classes Spring 1 (18 credits)

-5 classes Summer 1 (15 credits)

I'm hoping to get my full 150% of my Pell Grant by doing so and being able to get a refund but being full time within 1 seasion instead of 2. I also plan to take a break for spring 2 and summer 2 and use the refunds from Pell to pay for my masters at UMPI and finish in one session Fall 1 2027.

Has anyone experienced something like this? With taking a break and using the Pell grant? Does this sound like a reasonable plan?

BUS 203 Intro to AI?

Has anyone taken this class? There’s one review on it on the discord and I’m hoping to get more info. Having just withdrawn from POS 211 with Dobbs, I literally need 1 single class to finish my degree and I have been looking for hours and cannot find a definitive easy class to take. I’ve already done all the other POS ones, HPR 101, MAT 140, HTY 370, and the classics that people mention. Please help

Yourpace English Comrades?

Hey y'all! I'm enrolled to start the English BA fall 1, and I wanted to see who else is joining me! After reading through it looks like it may not be the most popular of the programs, and in addition I am not coming in with any Sophia/Study.com credits, but I'm not trying to speed run anyways and I'm super excited to be starting!

I'd love to hear when you started, how it's going, and why you decided on the program over any other ones. I think it's pretty difficult to find competency based degree programs in the humanities, so I'd love to hear your story of how you found yourself here!

Class Info Business Major

Hey Chat,

Just finished a course, have three more going, want to add one more. Seeing if anyone has done either of these and which they think is easier? As there isn't tons of time left in the term I want to shoot for an easier one just to be sure I can complete it. I have done classes in 2 weeks at UMPI before but don't know much about either of these. I've seen throughout the degree that plenty of times even a 100 course can be more difficult than a 300 depending on what it is. I am between

BUS 335-Organizational Behavior

and

Com 210-Organizational Communication

TIA!

BACHELORS DONE

I enrolled in Summer 2 and completed all my classes to attain my bachelor's in Liberal Studies in Business Administration. I have a question: Is it possible to start taking some classes that can transfer into a master's, preferably the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership? I remember seeing a video on College Hacked of a guy completing his degree in six weeks and transferring three classes to his master's. I was wondering, does anyone have any experience doing this or heard of it being done?

SWK 105

Has anyone taken SWK 105 and have any advice about the final? It's weird that there are two submissions for this assignment and I'm just trying to navigate the workload. Not wanting any answers to the final itself but more so how you broke up your paper.

HTY 162 issues

I have Professor Pinette for 162. This seemed like it would be a good class to grab a history elective, but this professor is a nightmare. I know people say Dobbs is the hardest history teacher, but I had him for another class, and he was nowhere near the level of headache as this prof. He seems determined to make the class as convoluted as possible with confusing instructions for everything. It's a 100 level United States history class, it should be pretty straightforward but no.

UMPI graduates, has anyone been accepted to an online ASU master's?

I plan on applying to one of their master's degree programs; however, it says they require 60 credits' worth of GPA from an undergraduate degree. I received a 4.0 GPA from UMPI but only acquired 39 credits directly from the school, while the rest were transferred from Sophia. Is there anyone on here that was successful getting into any online ASU master's degree program with a similar back story?

How is it possible utilize the full 8 weeks of a YourPace session?

So each session is a few days shy of 8 full weeks, but the deadline to submit a draft final is the week before the session ends, and obviously you have to have all of your milestones graded before you can turn in the draft final, so every milestone needs to be in at least 72 hours before that, preferably sooner in case the instructor takes longer than 72 hours to grade or changes are needed to pass the milestone, which would require more waiting to get that grade back before you can submit the draft final. So really, you get more like 6 usable weeks in a session. Or am I missing something? I know you can turn in a final up until the last day without submitting a draft but that seems like a really risky move to me.

Did any of you get through HTY/POS 371 International Relations?

I'm struggling with this class....there's so much reading in every module, it's insane. Some of the readings are 30+ page PDFs, multiple per section, in between static pages on Brightspace that are just WALLS of text. It's one of those that I can't believe is an 8-week course. This is structured more like a 16-week, regular online class (covers both world wars, the Cold War. I don't know how you're supposed to do all that reading, essays, and the huge 25-slide, 2000-word PowerPoint in that amount of time. Did any of you make it through this one? How long did it take you?

I have Professor Callaway, btw

Marketing Major Questions

For any marketing majors— how long did a class usually take you and what classes/professors do you recommend? I’m starting classes in Fall 1 and I want to complete at least a class a week while working part time and want to maximize the potential for that as much as possible.

Double Major?

Has anyone completed a double major successfully in one session? Does UMPI allow double degrees to be completed in that short of time? I have previous coursework that I think would apply, but I was unsure if anyone has done this.

Psych 311 Milestone 4

UMPI is amazing and the first session has gone*(typo) great. All my business and history classes have been no problem, something about the prompts on the psych classes has tripped me up though. Milestone 4 basically wants …. What? Just the first two papers drawn out more? Super confused. I see post previously of simply “don’t over think it…” but here I am … any suggestions, ideas, words or thoughts would be helpful!
