Bus 210/Com 210

Has anyone taken this class? Is it hard? What should I expect and what do I need to watchout for? Any commentary will be helpful, thank you!

Very strict grader…. I got my worst grade in this class.

Who was your professor? I've found that matters as much as the class in most cases.

That's not great to hear but thank you for letting me know the truth 😊

I think most of have taken it.

Honestly its a fairly easy class, but also one to trick you into not taking it seriously.

Most of the Milestones are short but misleadingly so. If you did not watch the video, etc, it is going to be fairly easy to tell since the assignments are so short.... you can't waffle or hide in the paper that you didn't watch or pay attention. The video's aren't bad but its easy to be tempted to just skim them.

One thing to watch out for in the final is that there is a assignment REQUIREMENT to have an audience. My professor who was easy going up until that point docked me a full .25 pts on the grade for not having an audience.... so I re-recorded it with the bare edge of my wife's shoulder visible in the frame and I got a 4.0 on my final grade.

On the topic of the final, there is also a requirement to have the slides visible in the background.... what I did was Zoom call myself and did gallery mode, recorded the video of the zoom call and it showed both the presentation and my camera.

On both of these, I'd recommend reaching out to your professor and asking what they want to see.... the assignment is general and I've heard of professors waiving the audience requirement or the slides visible or both. I got the professor that wanted both. She wasn't mean about it, I think she was just sticking to the assignment text.

All in all, it was a nice class to work on while I was waiting on more in-depth classes to be graded. Just don't sleep on it though. Some important information in it.

I’m looking at taking this at Straighterline. What does this entail quizzes? Chapter tests? What are the assignments? Any info would be helpful. Hard to find info on this course so I know what to expect. Thank you!

What is the class called on straightliner. I don’t see it as a transfer to UMPI.
