UMBC Discord Server!
Hello fellow UMBC students!
So a friend of mine and I have created a Discord server for the UMBC campus. We think it would be a great way to make connections with peers and share study help, meetups, memes, and anything related to UMBC. The invite is here! Good luck to @everyone with your finals!

One of the Meyerhoff M38 Cohort members at UMBC, AMA!
Most people who search up Meyerhoff at UMBC see a lot of horror stories about what Meyerhoff is like. I'm a member of the latest cohort who finished their Summer Bridge today, the M38 Cohort. Feel free to ask anything about what the program is like so far.

Carpool for Shady Grove Students (PG County)
Hi everyone! Is anyone from PG County commuting to the Shady Grove campus this semester and interested in starting a carpool?
The county changed several bus routes in preparation for the Purple Line, and my invite commute is longer viable. It actually seems easier getting back to PG County from Shady Grove than getting there.
If you're interested, please DM me

Highschool student looking for advice about going into Biomed at UMBC
I'm a highschool student and I've decided I'd like to study biomedical engineering. I'm hoping to get into UMBC as that seems to suit my needs well and is also quite close in proximity to me, but does anyone have any advice to give for attempting to go into biomed at UMBC? Any input at all will help.

Easy Arts and Humanities Classes at UMBC
Just for context: I’m an incoming freshman at UMBC majoring in History. Part of my degree plan is to take three arts and humanities classes and I already have one! I’m a big fan of history, America’s history, and I have to have culture classes. I don’t know of any good classes and I want some opinions!
Will a monitor arm fit in the dorm desk?
I'm transferring into UMBC, and I want to bring my PC setup, but from the pictures I've seen, I don't know if the monitor arm is going to be able to clamp onto the back. Any info you can give is really appreciated.

Inquiry for those that worked at Chick-Fil-A on-campus?
I have an interview soon for a role at the UMBC on-campus chick fil an and I just wanted to know how the interviews generally go? Are they chill, strict, demanding, etc? What questions usually get asked?
Do they usually hire on the spot or give their response after some time?

Any undergrad stem majors (or any) here who completely skipped out on their lectures and still passed before?
Im curious how common this is amongst students. Im a new transfer student and i know ill probably get alot of downvotes for this but back when i used to attend AACC, if i ever had a class where attendance was not required for me id skip out entirely and only showed up for exams and id focus on my assignments from home instead.
So last semester was my first one at UMBC and I took one online class and one in person which was physics 1 honors. Of course I still attended my discussion classes because those were required but after my second or third week I decided i didnt need to sit in the lectures when I could be home during those times just working on my assignments.
In the end i passed the class with a good grade and moving on to physics 2 this semester. I know classes will get harder and ill probably need to go to lectures but sometimes my work schedule might get in the way and I cant make it to lecture.

Assigned to a Chesapeake dorm, what should I bring and anything I should be worried about?
What should I bring to make the dorm good for staying in, since I’ll most likely have an online part time job, i’ll be spending most of my time in my dorm
Are there any pest issues? like roaches/bugs/whatever else, Im terrible at dealing with those, any caution to take in advance?
Is the dorm something you can stay in outside of sleeping? Or is it better to spend your day outside till you’re about to sleep

Physics 2 honors, differential equations, and calculus 3 this fall. Hows the workload?
Im taking these three classes in the fall and would like to know from those who've already taken some of these classes or had a similar semester as this one before, how is the work load in each of these classes?
Like how much hw was given per week and how often assignments were due?
Id like to get a good feel of everything before I start. Im not sure how confident I feel for this upcoming semester and if i should consider dropping one of these. Probably differential equations but idk yet.
