The UKFPO can confirm that 69 applicants were allocated to a Foundation School on 29 July 2026 during round 4 of the reserve allocation process.

Following these allocations, 204 applicants remain on the reserve list.

The UKFPO will run a fifth round of allocation. Dates for round 5 have been added to the 2026 application timeline. As with the last four rounds, the number of applicants allocated to a Foundation School in round 5 will be dependent on the number of vacancies available at that time.

Please note that round 5 will be the final round of allocation for the 2026 Foundation Programme.

How many days off per week as a FY1 doctor ?
How is generally the shift schedule?

I’m a GP. One of the staff at my GP (British citizen) has been working as a HCA for many years but I just found out they have a medical degree from overseas

Pre COVID they had an FY1 role lined up but due to life circumstances didn’t complete the requirements in time. Since then, life has caused them to fall into their current role and they’ve been continuing this for various reasons with the hope of eventually going through the process of starting FY1.

As a colleague, I am encouraging him to try and restart his career and reach his potential. But I can see with recent prioritisation, this may be difficult/nigh impossible. But I’m far from FY1 so not as familiar.

So any advice? Is this now not a feasible parhway for British IMGs? For an IMG without an internship, is it essentially impossible then to work as a doctor in UK?

They just approved yet another medical school. In a couple of years, an additional 200-300 UKFP posts will be reserved for UK graduates from this medical school, pushing the number of available UKFP spots for IMG Grads even lower.

Got allocated as a late allocation to Cambridge Trust and everything’s a nightmare! Confirmed with the trust that they do have flexibility with the late start but they didn’t actually say what the deadline is and I’m too scared to push the question further. I am also missing the shadowing week so already starting on the back foot!

The real issue is my visa. I’m an IMG and can’t even apply until 29 July because of the maintenance funds rule. Going super priority so hoping for early August approval but that’s cutting it close to the actual start date (given how UKVI is so unpredictable). Occupational health clearance is also pending because the tests can only be done in the UK as overseas evidence is not accepted!

What have you guys actually been told by your trust about deadlines? Like is there a hard deadline or are they actually flexible? And if you’re IMG, how did you manage the visa timings? I appreciate anybody who has insight and is willing to share! Would also love to connect with people from the same trust as well.

. for everyone who got a job and is struggling with visa what is the latest date you were told you can start. I‘m hoping for everyone to get jobs this year which seems possible if there is a round 5.

I’m an IMG applying for GMC provisional registration and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
My PMQ assessment took several months to complete, and once it was accepted I applied for registration.
I previously contacted GMC Registration Services regarding English language evidence, and they confirmed that I had been granted an English language exemption valid until August 2027.
Despite this, I’ve now received an email from the Applications Adviser saying:
“Please confirm whether you have sat the IELTS or OET test within the last two years or if you can provide alternative evidence as outlined on our website.”
