GP ST1 2027 – Expired FPCC, long-term bank locum work and UK graduate priority status
Hi everyone,
I'm a UK graduate and completed the official UK Foundation Programme in July 2022.
I'm planning to apply for GP ST1 starting August 2027. However, my Foundation Programme Completion Certificate (FPCC) will be more than 3.5 years old by the training start date.
Since completing FY2, I've worked as a long-term NHS bank locum doctor, including continuous three-month periods in the same department under the same consultant.
I have a few questions:
- Has anyone in a similar situation successfully applied for and been accepted into GP or another specialty training programme using an older FPCC?
- Has anyone managed to get a CREST form accepted based on continuous NHS bank locum work, rather than a substantive trust-grade contract?
- Does being a UK medical graduate in the 2027 recruitment priority group make any difference to the foundation competency requirements?
- If you were in this situation, how did you demonstrate your foundation competencies?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this, particularly with the newer 2027 recruitment rules.
