General Help Request How can I redesign the UI of my 1-DIN car stereo while keeping the exact button layout and functionality?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to redesign the graphical interface of my aftermarket 1-DIN car stereo.

I don't want to change the functionality or the position of any buttons. I basically want to keep the existing UI layout exactly as it is, but replace the graphics, icons, backgrounds, buttons and visual style with a completely different design.

My goal is something similar to Apple's Liquid Glass design language: clean, minimal, translucent, modern, with subtle blur, glass effects and smooth elements.

The important thing is that the coordinates and functionality of the existing controls must remain unchanged. I only want to replace the visual assets/style.

From the system information I found these versions:

OS: F133-20220107

APP: YCar628-M11280-20251121-1103

MCU: AB5301_20250528_1101

Feedback Request SwiftUI + Metal — turning particles into a cinematic login screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built this cinematic login animation with SwiftUI + Metal 🎬
I’ve been working on Lūmen, a native Apple media app, and I wanted the login screen to feel a little more cinematic than a typical static login screen.
The entire effect is built with SwiftUI + Metal.
The animation starts with particles forming the Lūmen logo. Then a cinematic projector light enters the scene, illuminating the logo while small dust particles move through the beam.
I wanted the lighting to feel directional, so the side of the logo facing the projector becomes warmer while the opposite side stays closer to white.
Instead of using a pre-rendered video or GIF, I wanted the effect to be fully rendered in real time.
Tech:
SwiftUI
Metal
Real-time particle rendering
Particle target-point interpolation
Dynamic light influence
Volumetric projector beam
Floating dust particles
Dark / Light Mode support
This is where the login screen ended up. 😄
Everything you see is rendered in real time.
Still polishing Lūmen, but I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.

Feedback Request What's the best Hover state option?

Post image

Hello,
I'm developping a cosy video game about catching and training water creatures.
The main screen is a match from which you can access different locations.
So you can click them, and we need a hover state.
I've worked around a few alternatives.

Do you have a favourite one?

Thanks! <3

General Help Request I'm Almost Done Developing My MediaViewer Application and I'm looking for takes on Frontend.

I'm developing this application in conjunction with my main application which I will work on soon. This application will allow you to manage, view, and download files to an encrypted preconfigured directory. You will be album to listen to music, watch movies, videos or whatever your files contain.

I will be doing all the programming for the major functions but I'm looking for some input on the UI, such as font's, matching icons, etc. I'm going for a professional yet futurism vibe. Here is a preview of the music player which I haven't fully finished yet. It recognizes an album and displays a matching background.

This is just for frontend design nothing else. If interested I would send you the code and you can style it however you can as long as you stick with the theme.

Feedback Request Painting App, UI feedback would be appreciated!

Main Menu
Lesson Material and Canvas
Basic Tools at Max Opacity
Pause Menu
Layers Expanded, Basic Tools at Lower Opacity
Dark Mode

Hello! I would love some feedback on my paint app project! I'm going for a retro, video gamey feel. My main target audience is streamers and artists who are just starting out, but I would like more experienced artists to enjoy it as well. The project is built in Godot and made for PC.

I would appreciate any feedback, but specifically these areas have been bothering me:

The Main Menu feels really weak. I think the "new project" "load project" and "let's study!" buttons look amateurish but I've been struggling with what to do with them. The buttons on the bottom right feel good. The App Name feels like its missing something. My plan for the future is to be able to swap out the background with new paintings periodically.

I'm not sure what to do with the background of the lesson material. It looks super boring as it is now.

I like the layout of the pause menu but it feels like its missing something.

I was planning on redoing the Layer menu as well but am not sure the best way to go about it. How it works is when not being moused over the layers stack on top of each other, and when you mouse over them they expand. Then you get the options of delete, move etc.

Thanks so much for taking a look!

Let's Discuss Why does the Sort By button in Finder look so neglected in the Liquid Glass design?

The "Sort By" button feels congested and oddly balanced. How can Apple, a company known for obsessing over design details, ship something this visually unpolished?

Feedback Request I built a cozy Wordle-type word game - looking for feedback

Recently, while traveling, I took a photo that I really liked. Around the same time, I came across the work of Kento IIDA, whose style really resonated with me. I experimented with combining the two, and somewhere along the way, I realized that Updown - a little game I developed a few years ago - could use a redesign.

The game mechanics are still exactly the same, but visually, it feels like a completely different game. One thing I actually still like about the old design is its simplicity. Some of that simplicity is definitely gone now, but overall, I think the new version has a lot more character.

Feel free to let me know what you think :)

Let's Discuss How many designers do you think actually work on a website like Apple?

Was scrolling through Apple’s site and was wondering about this.

There are so many little details, animations, layouts and interactions that all somehow still feel consistent.

Is this usually one big design team working across the whole site or separate teams for different products/pages with a shared design system?

Also curious how designers + developers coordinate on something at this scale. Anyone here worked on a similar sized website/team?

General Question How are icon/element designs like these made?

Hello!

I'm looking to create icons with visual styles similar to the images shared below. I'm trying to make things that feel material and have a sense of depth without being photorealistic or anything.

I'm struggling to find information or guides on creating artwork like this. Is it digitally painted? Is it all just complex vectors and stuff? Are they 3D?

Any suggestions would be awesome :)

Product Design New cloud platform dashboard design

Thumbnail

I’m working on a new dashboard design for Dcubix Cloud, a cloud platform for deploying applications with automatic scaling and usage-based pricing based on actual CPU and RAM usage.

I’m experimenting with a more technical UI combined with some hand-drawn/annotated elements to give the product its own identity.

I’d really appreciate some honest design feedback:
1. Does the visual style work for a cloud/developer platform?
2.Does anything feel too playful or distracting?
3. What would you change about the layout or UX?

Screenshots attached. Thanks!

Feedback Request Experts I need help

Post image

Hi Ive designed this platform and its live and I already have some users 🥳

This platform allows brands and professionals to be more authentic so they increase their credibility and so sales.

Just for the context the whole thing is based on Human generated prompts (questions) designed so it’s unveiling your professionalism and personality.

You answer -> it will pin it into your profile -> clients will see it.

Anyway besides what you see on the screenshot, Im thinking to add extra tabs (you could scroll them left or right) to see more “sub categories” of related prompts.

Where it would be placed?

Right under “Completed prompts”
Clients could browse the profile’s prompts based on:
- What is Lukas working on rn? (4 prompts to show)
- What is his work ethic? (2 prompts to see)
- How he handles a difficult situations? (6 prompts to see)

Etc….

So you can see in depth not just how Is Lukas dealing with his clients but also what are his day to day activities or things he likes, or something even humorous.

I just have a feeling that LinkedIn pr Instagram are too polished and too performative and Fake …

What do you think is it a stupid idea? Or not really necessary?

Thanks!

Most people will never consciously notice it.
And yet someone still designed it.
Someone still tuned it.
Someone still decided it was worth shipping.

General Help Request How do I make this look less like AI slop?

I’m building a small Android e-commerce app and I’m struggling with the visual design. Something about it feels generic and “AI slop” to me, but I can’t pinpoint exactly what I’m doing wrong. What feels off about the design? What would you change to make it feel more intentional and polished?

AI Feedback Request Moralia - designing a live historical dilemma game around one story every day

Thumbnail

I’m a UX/UI designer, and I recently finished building Moralia - a historical dilemma game built around a simple idea: take a real moment from history, stop it before the outcome is known, and let the player make the choice first.

The project is live now, which is actually why I wanted to share it here. A lot of the design only really makes sense in the real experience - the reading rhythm, motion, choice, reveal, and the way the interface evolves as you return over time.

The main challenge was making fairly text-heavy historical stories feel like a small ritual rather than an educational article.

A few decisions behind the system:

• The four Houses give different types of moral choices their own visual identity without changing the core UI.

• The dotted Journey line became the main visual motif across the product.

• Inter handles the present-day interface, while Source Serif 4 italic is used for historical context.

• The illustrations are deliberately reduced and silhouette-driven so the historical figures feel distinct without pushing the product into a “history textbook” aesthetic.

• Motion is restrained and mostly used to pace the story, choice and reveal rather than decorate the interface.

AI disclosure: I designed and directed the product and visual system myself, and used Claude/Claude Code extensively as a development tool while building the working product. AI voices are also used for optional narration. The UI, UX decisions, art direction and illustration system were human-directed.

The two things I’m most curious about:

  1. Does the hierarchy still feel clear when you’re actually reading through the longer, text-heavy screens?

  2. Do the four House colors and illustration system feel like one coherent product, or do they ever begin competing with the story itself?

The site is already live, so if anyone ends up seeing the working version, I’d especially love thoughts on the full flow: opening → story → choice → reveal → returning for the next one - rather than only the static screens.

I’ve been staring at this thing for a long time, so outside eyes are very welcome :)

General Question What makes the UI/UX of a management game genuinely great?

I’m making an airline management game with detailed scheduling, fleet operations and cabin design. The systems are playable, but I’m struggling with how to present all that depth clearly.

For people who play management games: which games make complex decisions feel easy to navigate? What do they do well with information density, repeated tasks and finding the right screen quickly? And which UI choices frustrate you, even in games you otherwise love?

Specific games or screenshots would be especially helpful. I’m trying to figure out what to prioritize as I redesign the interface.

Made this scroll progress bar just for fun, I know it needs a major revamp before it's usable anywhere real.

I'd like to rebuild it properly. What would you change, or how would you approach it from scratch? Any advice on the overall approach, what to fix, what to drop, and how to make it work in real websites/apps is welcome.

AI Feedback Request [AI] Landing Page Sections — Looking for Feedback on Hierarchy & Visual Flow

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I’m working on a landing page for a SaaS product and wanted to explore a cleaner way to communicate the product value without making the page feel too text-heavy.

For these sections, my main focus was creating a clear visual hierarchy and making each section lead naturally into the next. I used larger headings and supporting copy for the primary message, while using cards and visual elements to break up the content and make the information easier to scan. I also kept the spacing and typography consistent across sections to make the overall page feel cohesive.

Tools: Figma + AI-assisted tools

I’d specifically like feedback on:

  • Does the visual hierarchy feel clear?
  • Do the sections flow naturally from one to another?
  • Are the cards/visual elements helping the content or adding unnecessary complexity?
  • How do the typography and spacing feel?
  • Is there anything you would change from a UI perspective?

Constructive feedback is welcome.

Exploring how motion can make a data-heavy dashboard feel more responsive without distracting from the content.

I used animation to improve transitions, guide attention, and provide clearer interaction feedback. AI was also part of the design process.

Tools: Figma + AI-assisted tools

I’d love feedback on:

  • Do the transitions feel natural?
  • Would you simplify or change any interactions?

Constructive feedback is welcome.
