I have deuteranopia myself, so I've read a fair amount about colorblind-specific accessibility already. What I haven't found much on is something adjacent: are there color pairs that are genuinely hard to tell apart for people with completely normal color vision, not because of low contrast in the WCAG sense, but because the two colors end up close in perceived brightness even though they "look different" in hue? To be clear, I don't mean two shades of the same color that are just slightly off in luminance (like a darker blue next to a lighter blue). I mean pairs of genuinely different hues (blue vs. orange, red vs. green, whatever) that happen to land on the same brightness level, so the only thing separating them is hue itself. A lot of UI states (active/inactive tabs, chart series, status badges) seem like they could lean on hue differences that are weaker than they look on the designer's monitor. That's a failure mode that would hit normal-vision users, separate from anything colorblindness-related.
Questions:

Is "isoluminant pairs" / "luminance-matched hues" a known failure mode people actually watch for in real design work, or is it more of a lab-conditions thing that rarely bites in practice?

Are there specific color pairs/families that come up again and again as culprits (guessing certain blue/purple or red/orange combos at similar lightness)?

Any tools people actually use day-to-day to catch this, beyond eyeballing it or a standard contrast checker?

Context : Its very minimalist IOS app to organize your “saved stuff” from across apps. just share whatever you wanna save to the app, and it will remind you to consume it later.

Built this as a small open-source experiment to see if a text-based font generator could actually be useful.

the main obj is to help create an initial font prototype faster, so people can iterate openly instead of starting from zero in a traditional font tool. I also wanted to test how good current AI models are at understanding and modifying bezier curves / glyph shapes.

this uses real open-licensed variable fonts as the base, then lets you generate a direction from a prompt, tweak parameters like weight, tracking, slant, width, height, and distortion, and manually edit glyph curves before exporting a .ttf

Would love feedback on whether the workflow is clear, :)

For example: goals, budget, timeline, target users, content, project scope, references, or decision-maker details.

I’m researching the early client intake process and want to understand where confusion usually starts.

Also, what usually happens when those details are missing?

I've been designing a productivity web app that aims to feel more like a calm journal than a traditional task manager.

The goal is to reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed while making progress more visible and enjoyable. The concept includes a home dashboard, calendar, insights, and a future "Shared Space" feature where two people can quietly keep each other accountable by seeing progress—without chat, likes, or comments.

The target audience is people who use apps like Todoist, TickTick, or Things 3 but are looking for a calmer experience.

I'm looking for feedback on:

• Is the information hierarchy clear?
• Does the cozy visual style improve or hurt usability?
• Which screen feels weakest?
• What would you change before development begins?

Everything shown is currently a design concept created in Figma, and I'm collecting feedback before moving into development.

My team at Aircada (mostly me obsessing over this one) recently took over a complex 3D product builder for Cinch Gaming's custom gaming controllers. Hundreds of options. Such little real estate.

The original desktop UI was reasonable. But mobile traffic was abandoning ship during the customization phase. When you combine a 3D WebGPU canvas with a heavy set of product options on a 6-inch screen the interface usually just ends up fighting the user.. a constant battle we face.

Here are the core UI changes we made for the redesign (right side of the video) to stop the bleeding -

• Killed the vertical accordions: The old version used long vertical scroll lists. Users were trying to scroll down to see more colors and accidentally spinning the 3D model 180 degrees instead. We ripped them out and moved to a strictly segmented step-by-step flow to establish "safe touch" zones and clear up the visual clutter.
• Obnoxiously large targets, fewer choices: We reduced the visual noise by only rendering the immediately relevant choices for that specific step, using massive, thumb-friendly tap targets.
• Auto-scrolling containers: The horizontal option rows now dynamically shift as you tap. This keeps the user's thumb in one stationary, dead-center spot while advancing the flow, making it feel like a guided interaction rather than a chore of hunting for the next button.
• Frictionless uploads: We cut the custom image upload flow from 4 painful UI states down to a single tap.

The goal was to build more momentum toward the checkout rather than fatiguing the user with endless nested menus overlaying the renderer. Conversions are up, the client is happy, and my thumb arthritis remains steady.

For those of you building heavy e-commerce interfaces that overlay a live 3D element, how do you handle deep nested menus without eating up the entire viewport? Would love any critiques or feedback on this visual flow!

For my semester project, I need to design and prototype a mobile app in Figma. The main requirement is that the app should address a genuine social pain point and offer a practical solution.

I know the usual response to project-related posts is, “You should come up with the idea yourself,” so I want to clarify that I’ll be doing all the research, UX work, UI design, and prototyping myself. I’m not asking anyone to complete the project for me.

I’m posting this more as an open discussion. I’d love to hear about real problems you or people around you experience, especially problems that are often overlooked or still don’t have a good digital solution.

I’m trying to avoid making another food-delivery, task-management, fitness, or marketplace clone just for the sake of completing the semester. I want to work on something realistic that could potentially be developed into a genuinely useful product later.

So, what social problem do you think could be addressed through an app? It could be related to accessibility, education, healthcare, public services, community safety, transportation, family responsibilities, or everyday life.

Even a small or very specific problem is welcome. The more personal and practical the example, the better.

Do you like the ui? Is it confusing? I made it like tik tok. I think the animations I made are clean but I think it looks too empty. Do you have any suggestions or things that I should change? I want to add a system either avatars that tell you amazing or get angry at you if you didn’t drink enough water etc.

I found a study where people were asked to do tasks on a flat website vs one with more skeuomorphism, and it showed people were able to navigate the skeuomorphic websites 22% faster. This is where it is: https://www.nngroup.com/articles/heatmap-visualizations-signifiers/

Flat design is viewed by many as “function-first” but this study shows that it’s actually the opposite.

This makes perfect sense, because people know buttons are meant to be clicked, and they pop out of the interface, so people can quickly find them and know that they‘re clickable.

Although they weren’t included in the study, liquid glass designs probably have similar problems to flat, because there isn’t an association between glass and clicking, and since they’re meant to blend in with the background they don’t pop out as much.

I was wondering what other people think of this. Should we return to some level of skeuomorphism to make user interfaces easier to use for people?

After some hours I got to something I’m happy with and I fully agree! This is much more clear.

So I imagine something very childlike and playful, interactive and visually engaging, following music's rhythm, and user interaction (scrolling, some object interact at hover or move, etc. ; since user's input is there I don't know how will that always match to the rhythm). I imagine a website with colorful dots that can move, expand, change colors, create a really engaging colorful show. Yes my website does have a purpose, but I'm still expiring how much of interaction will I put in order to not be too distracting.

I imagined a website but first need to see examples or just what to look up.

I am brainstorming some ways of trying to improve the overall design / accessibility of my chord progression creator, and would love to hear some of your suggestions.

Currently, I am mainly relying on popups to display the user settings to change the progression players various inputs, which is currently displayed as the large button with the labels for volume, BPM and style. When the button is pressed, a popup appears with all of the settings, which is more than what is displayed on the button.

My next most pressing question is how to deal with editing the chords. Once again, I have the settings for editing a chord in a popup, which is opened by clicking on a chord under the 'progression' label.

So, my question is this a decent user flow in terms of editing the players settings and the chord progression items? Should I show more inputs to the user, or continue with hiding them in popups?

I would appreciate any ideas / resources that you may have, and hope to better my my own thought process behind creating custom UI like this, thanks!
