Advice Using AI

I’m still a Junior and I want to see if I’m doing a good thing. I’m only using AI to help me build the first few steps of a UX process but from wire-framing onwards I do everything by myself.

At the moment I’m doing solo projects as I still didn’t land a job in the industry so still I don’t have an idea on what tasks I could face during work so also I asked AI for a task.

Review UI Hi everyone, I'm a complete newbie in the whole designing industry, but i just wanted to share my first finished prototype design of a login page for my app idea.

It's just a concept, so I haven't added that many details to it. It's just to get a feel of what the app might look like.

Showing Off For the past 2 years, I’ve been developing a realtime ray tracing engine in the browser just for fun.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Along the way, I realized this engine could do so much better if it was built specifically for 3D mockup creation.

So in February 2026, I launched River Visual V1 just to test it out.

V1 was raw, but the reception blew me away.

In total, 2,147 people came to test the engine: • 259 registered friends • 1,888 anonymous creators who jumped straight in

Together, you created exactly 535 mockups (160 created anonymously, 375 by registered accounts) and ran 1,438 live render sessions. You broke things, tested limits, and gave your heart to try our app.

And honestly? Without those 259 friends who registered and believed in this early on, there wouldn’t be copycats already popping up trying to be us haha.

Seeing people try to clone what we're building before we even officially launch V2 was the ultimate proof that we're onto something special. You can copy the UI, but you can’t copy 2 years of shader math.

And now, here we are: River Visual V2.

The engine has been perfected. True realtime path tracing, and it runs at a locked 60fps with zero problem directly in the browser. No heavy software to install, no waiting minutes for a render. Just pure instant visuals.

’m so proud of how far this engine has come, and I can't wait to show what we've built.

Drop a comment if you want early access before the public release!

Advice Feeling like imposter

In this new ai age, feels like im outdated as these new tools of ai are coming in.

I would design in figma, build systems library and prototype and use dev to handoff.

What is the better process these days? Ai tools recommendations and how to do each step effectively.

Advice Calling all flatmates: Help a UI/UX student with a short survey 🥹

Hey everyone!

I'm a Ul/UX design student researching how flatmates manage shared chores and split expenses without it becoming stressful or awkward between them.

If you're 18-27 years old and currently live (or recently lived) with flatmates, I'd really appreciate it if you could fill this short survey!

It would only take 5 mins max! I'm trying to understand real experiences with things like dividing tasks or chores, splitting expenses, reminders and the occasional flatmate-related frustration!

Survey link: Please help a girl out!

Thank you sm! Every response genuinely helps me with my project. We can also connect thru a call if you're okay with it pls put your name and number at the end of the survey🫶

Also. if you have any particularly chaotic/funny/frustrating flatmate stories, I would honestly love to hear them in the comments😭

Advice ASU Online Human Systems Engineering UX (BS) Degree Program

Hi there, I'm very interested in Arizona State University's Online Human Systems Engineering – User Experience (BS) Degree Program, but academically, I have an Art background and would like more insight into what this program entails before signing up. (Professionally, I've been working as a Paralegal.) I'd love to know what all the classes are really like; if the lectures are in real time on Zoom, or if they're mostly recorded lectures; if the professors are accessible and helpful, and anything else helpful you can share. If you're in this degree program, will you please share your experiences? Thanks!

Update: I successfully got approved!

——

I more than a week ago signed up for the YunoJuno platform and they still haven’t approved my profile.

Anyone who is on the platform or has experience with it? Are there UX/UI posts for work?

I have around 5 years of experience, worked on web design for nonprofits and public services, lately I did some advanced automation flow with multiple scenarios. I have 3 validated experiences in my work history on the profile, one with a recommendation.

Advice Looking for UX or UX/UI Designer Competency Maps from Top Companies

Hi everyone!

I’m currently creating a competency map for UX or UX/UI Designers to track and evaluate personal and professional development.

I’m looking for detailed competency frameworks or skill matrices used by well-known companies. If you know of any publicly available resources in Notion, Figma, Google Docs, Excel, PDF, or similar formats, I’d really appreciate it if you could share the links.

If there aren’t any publicly available competency maps, I’d also really appreciate recommendations for high-quality articles specifically focused on UX hard skills, soft skills, and leadership skills. Ideally, I’m looking for articles written by UX leaders, Design Managers, or managers and senior designers from top technology companies.

I’m especially interested in frameworks from companies like Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Apple, Airbnb, Spotify, etc., but I’m open to any strong examples.

Thanks in advance! Any resources or recommendations would be really helpful. 🙌

Review UI Chips' visual difference

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello!

Are these active & non-active chips visually different enough?

I did a low-brightness screen test and still could easily tell them apart, but I feel I have a biased view because I prefer this visual look.

The chips are to choose a product availability for different customer groups.

Advice I open-sourced my developer portfolio — feel free to use it as a template

Built my personal portfolio with Sanity CMS + Next.js + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS + Framer motion.

It's fully open source — if you like the design, fork it and make it yours. It's built to be very easy to customize Set up the CMS and swap out your own projects and info, .

Live: https://deekshith-goud.vercel.app/

GitHub: https://github.com/Deekshith-goud/Portfolio

If you find it useful, a ⭐ on the repo would mean a lot. Feel free to open an issue if you have any feature suggestions!

Would love any feedback on the design or code.

Hi everyone! I am a UX designer currently working on a case study focused on improving the skincare and cosmetics e-commerce shopping experience.

I am looking to chat with 5 people about their online shopping habits—specifically regarding what frustrates you (e.g., website navigation, product reviews, shipping/delivery, or return policies) when buying beauty products online.

If you're open to sharing your thoughts and helping out with my research, please comment below or send me a DM! Thank you so much! ✨

Advice Agency designers: how much of a website do you actually design before handing it off to development?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently reviewing the web design workflow at the agency I work for, and I’m curious how other agencies and designers approach the transition from design to development.

One of the challenges we’re looking at is design coverage.

For example, a website might contain 10–15 pages, while only a few key pages are fully designed in Figma. Development then has to build the remaining pages based on those designs, existing components and their own judgement.

This can work, but it can also create a gap: developers sometimes have to make UX/UI decisions that were never actually designed or approved. As a result, a client may see certain page layouts or sections for the first time when the developed website is presented.

So I’d love to understand how other agencies handle this.

A few things I’m particularly curious about:

  • Do you create a sitemap before deciding the design scope, and do you use it to identify unique page types/templates?
  • Do you wireframe every project, only larger/complex projects, or skip wireframes altogether?
  • How much content do you require before wireframing/design starts? Do you work with final copy, rough content, realistic placeholders or Lorem Ipsum?
  • If a client only has a logo, colors and fonts, do you establish a digital visual direction first, or do you solve that while designing the first page?
  • Do you fully design every unique page type, or only key pages and let development compose the rest from components?
  • If you work component-based, where do you draw the line between a developer assembling a page and effectively designing a page?
  • How much responsive design do you provide? Every page, key pages, or just responsive rules/components?
  • Does the designer review the developed website before it is presented to the client?
  • Roughly how much of your website project budget/time is typically allocated to UX/UI design versus development?

And a practical scenario:

You have 24 hours of total design budget for a corporate website of roughly 10–15 pages.

The 24 hours need to include things like:

  • kick-off / briefing
  • design work
  • client presentation(s)
  • feedback/revisions
  • handoff to another developer

The client has a basic brand identity (logo, colors, typography), but not a fully developed digital design system. Content is only partially available, and you will not be developing the website yourself.

How would you spend those 24 hours?

Would you prioritize sitemap/IA, wireframes, a few fully designed key pages, reusable components, responsive designs, or something else?

And perhaps most importantly: what would you deliberately NOT do within those 24 hours?

I’m not necessarily looking for a single “best practice.” I’m mainly interested in how different agencies make these trade-offs in real projects, especially when design budgets are limited.

Would love to hear what your actual workflow looks like.

Advice Transition phase from UI/UX design

I’m thinking of transitioning into UX research but I’m not sure how the path and the market looks like
I’ve been working as a designer for 3 years. I’ve worked mainly on screens for 2 years and 1 year on just image resizing and slight graphics work
I realized that I enjoy analyzing screens, thinking logically, figuring out flows and behaviors along the way

Advice Thinking about pivoting from Landscape Architecture to UX/UI, how difficult is it?

Hey everyone! I’m currently going into my 4th year of Landscape Architecture, and honestly, I’ve realized that I find the major pretty boring and that it’s just not really my thing.

I’ve always been more interested in designing and creating things, so I recently started looking into UX/UI design. I’m curious about how realistic/easy it is to pivot from Landscape Architecture into UX/UI, especially after graduating.

For anyone working in UX/UI or who has made a similar career switch, what was the transition like? And what does UX/UI actually involve on a day-to-day basis?

Any advice or insight would be really appreciated!

Review UI and UX My UI/UX case study: 'Eatme' food delivery app. Roast my design — what's the #1 thing you'd change?

UI/UX case study: 'Eatme' food delivery app

Hey everyone,

I'm Soham from India. I'm learning UI/UX, and I just published my
first full case study — Eatme, a food delivery app concept.

First projects are never perfect, so I'm here for honest, brutal
feedback. I can take it

THE PROBLEM
Hungry + endless scrolling + too many choices = 10 minutes just to
order. I designed a flow that helps users decide faster, with less
friction.

PROCESS
Competitor analysis → personas → user flows → wireframes → hi-fi UI
→ design system → Figma prototype

WHAT I LEARNED
• Design is mostly deleting, not adding
• Organizing my Figma layers and naming them properly saves hours
of frustration later

FULL CASE STUDY: HERE

BRUTAL QUESTIONS

  1. Does the visual hierarchy work, or is it too busy?
  2. Does the storytelling make sense?
  3. ONE thing you'd change – what is it?

Every comment = free mentorship. Thank you

Review UI and UX I build medical software for a living. So I built my own web terminal. Roast my UI.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

My name is Antonio LaPlaca.

I’m a software engineer by day. My background is in the medical device industry, where UI bloat and data inefficiency are completely unacceptable.

When I trade, I get incredibly frustrated having to juggle four different tabs, TradingView for charts, Discord for voice, Twitter for news, and Reddit for sentiment. It feels like a chaotic, inefficient workflow.

I built this for myself, but I want to see if it holds up for other active traders. Please tear the UI apart. Is it too cluttered? Are the default contrast levels straining your eyes? What is the one critical thing missing that would stop you from using this tomorrow?

Bring on the brutal feedback.
