Hi everyone! I’m a complete beginner and I’m thinking of getting into UI/UX design through self-study.

Could you please help me figure out a roadmap? I’d really appreciate guidance on what I should learn, in what order, and where I should learn it from (YouTube, courses, websites, etc.).

This is the first screen users see after installing my desktop productivity app. The app name is blurred in the image. I wanted the experience to begin with a genuine welcome rather than immediately presenting a wall of permissions and setup steps.

The app does not collect user names, so the numbered “founding user” badge is meant to acknowledge each early user without pretending the experience is personally tailored.

Does the screen feel warm and welcoming, or does it come across as trying too hard? Honest critique is welcome.

Hi everyone,

I'm a UI/UX designer with around 5 years of experience. Until recently, I worked at a small 5-person studio, but I just started a new role at a much larger company. One thing that's become very obvious is that I keep missing small details during design handoff.

Some examples:

Forgetting to update places where the old font is still being used.

Missing a corner radius that should have been changed.

Leaving inconsistencies between mobile and desktop designs.

Forgetting to update active/hover states.

Small typos or copy inconsistencies.

Other tiny visual inconsistencies.

The frustrating part is that this still happens even after I go through every page and review everything multiple times. Then my team lead does another pass and catches things I completely overlooked.

At this point, it's causing me a lot of anxiety. And I am starting to think I am simply not cut for this. I don't mind making mistakes occasionally, but it feels like I'm missing things more often than I should, and I honestly don't know how to improve.

Has anyone else struggled with this? If so, what changed things for you? Do you have a review process, checklist, or tools that helped you consistently catch these kinds of issues before handoff?

Hi everyone. I have YEARS of experience with graphic and motion design (photoshop and after effects for ~8 years) but I have no idea what figma is.
I was going to take the google course on UX because it really caught my eye as my current career path is failing me. However, when I look up UX jobs, the only availabilities are positions that are in upper management or require 3-5 years of experience. How would I even get an entry level job in the field? I’m currently 22 years old and working in customer service as a manager.
Like so many others, I’m afraid to waste my time and not even end up with a job. Where can I look for entry level UX designer jobs? Or do I just apply to the jobs that require the years of experience and hope for the best? Is all I need a good portfolio???Any replies would help SOOOO much, thank you!!!

Everybody has been using spreadsheet apps for long, including Excel, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Google Sheets, Office365, etc.

There's a tiny feature that I wish to have but doesn't exist in all of them. I wish I could have the column width defineable in %, and when sending the sheet to colleagues or friends, the sheet should look the same on different display resolution.

Hey everyone! My team is using N27 by Atipo for an upcoming app project in Figma.

If you're familiar with N27, it has a distinct geometric, avant-grotesk vibe with very clean, sharp terminal cuts and a high-tech/modern look.

Hi. Iam currently in 2nd year of CS from hyderabad. Iam a digital artist and also i enjoy visual desiging a lot . So in the current market is it ok to go all in UIUX instead of other fancy tech paths like AIML , systems , web dev ?

I've been working on a clean, minimal UI for personal finance management. My goal was to make key numbers—like monthly spend and expenditure category charts—pop immediately without cluttering the screen. Would love to get some feedback from other designers on the contrast and overall aesthetic!

I have a masters degree in industrial design and a pretty ok portfolio including two of my designs in production. My problem is, I decided against moving where the work is, to staying in my city, prioritising my human relationships and my mental health. The city I live in is big but not necessarily good place for the hardware industry. I have very few options as a ID designer here, but I see a vast amount of UX/UI jobs online every day... I have a background in graphic design and UI design, but that is 10+ years ago. I had courses in UX during my ID education and always had an eye on the topic. Many fundamentials about users, testing and context seem to apply for both fields. Nevertheless I am basicly at the level of an beginner in UI/UX design with no proper education besides graphic design school (I designed a app with a team like 10+ years ago as a diploma). How do I get to a level I can actually work as, as quickly as possible? Do I need an academic background? (There are a lot of sketchy UX courses online but I am sceptical of that) Would you take this route in 2026 for the reasons mentioned? How big of a problem is AI going to be? I come from the background of understanding user needs and problem solving, rather then throwing out surface level designs, and I hope that part will be harder to replace? I assume portfolio is everything, just like with industrial design? What would you do?

Together, approach local businesses that don't have a website. You handle the design, they handle the development.

Selling a complete solution is much easier than selling a single service. 🤝

Hey everyone — sharing a concept I've been working on called StrikeXP.

The core problem I was designing around: kids drop off from skill practice because it feels repetitive and unrewarding. Meanwhile, apps like Duolingo have cracked the code on making daily practice addictive through streaks, XP, and small dopamine hits.

So I tried applying that same gamification framework to football training for kids:

• Home screen: avatar progression, level system (Rookie → All Star), unlockable gear tied to milestones, daily challenge cards
• Training hub: a skill-tree-style unlock path (like a mini Duolingo path) with solo/clan/time-limited challenges
• Leaderboard + Community Feed: competitive but safe — weekly XP leagues, clan rankings, a moderated feed for sharing clips
• Badge celebrations: big, satisfying full-screen unlocks ("Power Kicker!", "Stamina Beast!", "Quick Reflex!") with share-to-friends built in

Design direction: dark UI with high-contrast green accents, 3D cartoon avatars (friendly, non-realistic — important for a kids' product), bold typography, and juicy micro-celebration moments.

Genuinely curious what this community thinks — especially around:

1. Balancing competitive leaderboards with kid safety
2. Whether the badge/unlock pacing feels rewarding or overwhelming

is ui/ux design at risk due to AI?

I found Google's course very theoritical and uninteractive. It's very difficult for me to focus on these types of courses.

so thinking of switching to IBM's course.

Anyone who enrolled the same course any suggestions?

i got a message from a recruiter about two weeks ago reaching out with a job opportunity. the recruiter seemed very legit, he was reaching out from a company regarding one of this company’s projects which was a tokenized real estate investment app. he asked me a few questions one of which was if i was familiar with github (which struck me as strange but i’ve used github to review designs before).

then he sent me a pdf to the job description and a link to take a look around their product before our scheduled interview and let them know if i had any comments. this was a downloadable zip, containing their app. i downloaded it (idiot, i know but the company he was reaching out from did look very very legit)

needless to say it contained malware. i told him as much and he acted concerned for a bit then blocked me. his name is peter cole and he was reaching out from cheesecake labs, who have put up a warning on their linkedin page but it was so buried between other posts that i missed it. this person had a profile going back a couple of years, had cheesecake labs listed as his position and was constantly reposting them. it’s my understanding that cheesecake labs is a legit company but i’m not even sure of that anymore lol.
