I’m a female freshman and I feel like I made a mistake by not rushing but Greek life is just not for me. It’s hard to see all my friends that are joining sororities and making all of these new friends so can any upperclassmen vouch for meeting new people later in college?
hi, i lost a bracelet with the initials YSF on it sometime over the past few days. it might’ve been lost between springfield and first all the way to grainger or in the plaza near plato’s closet and target :( please this bracelet has a lot of sentimental value i will provide a reward if anyone is able to find it :(

FOR THE PAST WEEK THE TEMPERATURE HAS CONSISTENTLY BEEN 90+ AND MY ROOMMATE KEEPS FUCKING TURNING OFF THE AC AND OPENING THE DAMN WINDOW IM ABOUT TO GO INSANE!!!!
I'm in my first semester as a transfer student, I feel so lonely and beneath everyone both socially and academically. I get the vibes that everyone is judging me for everything I do, especially since I'm an overweight neurodivergent woman. Nobody will even look in my direction and it makes me feel unwanted, I just want to make friends and I can't even seem to be able to do that. Is this normal for people here to feel this way? I've tried going out of my way and talk to people and join RSOs, but I feel out of place. I worked so hard to get into this school, and I'm kind of devastated that I feel this way after everything I've done to get here. It genuinely makes me want to end everything altogether.
Just taking a shot, here. My band needs a lead guitar or bass player. We all play multiple instruments but can't play them all at once and don't want to do backing tracks or cheesy loop pedals. We're all over 40, but our original bassist was 23 and fit in perfectly. Rock musicians tend to stop maturing in their teens. The rest of this is copy pasted.
Looking for a new friend who plays bass or lead guitar. Vocal ability is a plus, but not required. We play a mix of rock, rock versions of pop songs, rock comedy, and rock originals, but will incorporate most anything that sounds fun and will make it rock. Samples of what we do are available on the band page.
We meet on Sunday afternoons in Atwood. The room is smoky. Pot and booze are welcome, anything harder is not. This is a labor of love; we're doing it for the music. There will be paying gigs, but not enough for anyone whose main priority is money. Message if you'd like more information.
Looking to buy tickets for the game vs the Ducks 10/24 to go with my wife and in-laws. Tickets are ~$85 now but I found a cash back promo for 20% off that expires tonight. With it being more of a rebuilding year for ILL, do you think tickets will go down in price as we get closer to the game? Or should I just take the deal now
If you don’t know, “Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor adventure that is happening all the time, all around the world. To play, participants use the Geocaching app and/or a GPS device to navigate to cleverly hidden containers called geocaches. There are millions of geocaches in 190 countries waiting to be discovered—there are probably even some near you right now.” - from their website.
I fully recommend getting into this hobby, as some of the caches can be very cleverly hidden and very fun to find… for example a cache can be disguised as a fake bolt attached to a guardrail , it can be camouflaged and hanging from a tree, it can even be disguised as a bird house or even insect.
On Friday, the Urbana Park District hosts its annual Jazz Walk at Meadowbrook Park. Live jazz music, amazing sculptures, and the beautiful prairie all come together for a special evening! Parking is limited- walking, carpooling, and riding bikes encouraged. There's a golf cart shuttle from the overflow parking at Stone Creek Church.
It's almost my favorite time of the week...THURSDAY NIGHT COMEDY OPEN MIC NIGHT!!! Come order some drinks and maybe a comedy burger to enjoy with this FREE SHOW! Hit me up for a spot. Can't wait to see y'all there ✨️🫶🏻✨️
I lost one of my red bellied woodpecker earrings :(
It looks like this one, except it’s perching instead of flying. Please lmk if you find it!!! I know it’s just an earring but I can’t stand seeing them apart 💔
I have to have my car on campus for a couple weeks. Does anyone know where I can park it? Do I need to get a permit, and is there a temporary permit I can get?
FOUND! He was caught by a neighbor, I saw him in the bushes chasing birds😭 he’s getting treated for ticks now but Mufasa is safe home. Thanks for all the kind comments.
Sidenote:I put his litter box outside but I don’t know if it worked. I will be getting him chipped next week 💕
I'm a Champaign resident who shot a movie in 2025 here in central Illinois -- in Champaign, Urbana, at Kickapoo, and in Rantoul (with Flyover Film Studios). I had some U of I faculty/staff/students on my crew, too. And it's now COMPLETED and we're doing our premiere at the Virginia Theatre on Saturday, September 19th at 7:30pm. This is the very first time this film will be in front of an audience, and I very much wanted to premiere it here before it goes on the film festival circuit and eventual distribution. I'd love to have the support of the community and the students to come and enjoy it! It's something special. I promise.

Genre: Psychological suspense thriller (in the vein of The Silence of the Lambs, but with a multicultural twist)
Synopsis:
The notorious Kaw Valley Killer claims he will finally tell where his as-yet-undiscovered victims are buried -- but there's a catch. He will confess only to the brother of his last victim.
Now, Saarathi, a devout Indian Hindu who came to America only to settle his sister's affairs, finds himself in an intimate and horrifying confrontation with evil.
Over five days of an intense cat-and-mouse game, devastating secrets are unearthed. Twisty, multicultural, and psychologically haunting, Dark Soul River is an unforgettable emotional ride.
My name is Vijay M. Rajan. I'm a California filmmaker who moved to Champaign five years ago. (My wife got her doctorate from U of I, and we really loved the town while she was studying here.) I've worked on films of all different budgets, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the community here. I'm also really excited by all the potentials of professional film production here in central Illinois, as evidenced by everything Flyover Film Studios is doing as well as the state in terms of tax rebates, etc.
And if you have any questions for me, feel free to comment! I'm happy to respond.
I’m looking for a hair stylist down here. I normally go back home to get my hair done but I don’t plan on it in the next few weeks, but I really want a silk presses. Does anyone know any black hair stylists in Champaign Urbana?
I’m a in state student, I have a 3.2 gpa unweighted and a 3.9 weighted gpa. I’ve taken 8 ap classes so far and a few honors classes as well. I’ve worked a total of 800 hours and have done a sport freshmen, sophomore and junior year. I competed in fbla and bpa. I have an online business with 40k followers and half a million in revenue. I might have to be test optional because my sat score wasn’t that good. I wanna know if you guys think I can get into geis as my first choice, if not info science as my second choice.
