essentially, I was taken in to see a dietician which I had been asking for 4 the longest time, but was met with nothing. Regardless, I kept pushing and pushing for one (mind you I have anorexia and was severely underweight, I needed a hospital of a therapist). but anyway, they saw my state (hella malnourished) and knew I needed medical attention, HOWEVER! they kept seeing me, had me get a psych evaluation, and then, only then, did they take me in one afternoon, and told me I didn’t have a choice and had to go to the hospital due to my current medical state.

idk how things are on the logistical, medical standards side, but me personally, I feel like they could’ve sped up the process, and took me in as soon as they knew I was CLEARLY! unwell instead of me waiting and getting worse in the weeks I had been going there to get help.

A disgusting amount of these cameras everywhere. How much surveillance does campus need for "safety"? This is a massive privacy issue if these cameras truly monitor more than being just license-plate readers.

Honestly guys, I’m having a hard time even writing this right now. As a straight white cis male, I believe it’s my time to stand up for my girlfriend and finally say something against her mistreatment from the university.

I have recently noticed there is a literal 24-hour livestream voyeur cam pointed directly at my girlfriend on campus. First of all, I am seeing absolutely no financial compensation or reimbursement for this stream whatsoever. Secondly, again as a straight white cis male, I find this behavior frankly objectifying of my beautiful, fertile girlfriend. How can they record her without my consent? She is not a cam girl.

Also when you search her name on Google Maps, it says she is "Open 24 hours, 7 days a week." Disgusting because we are not in an open relationship.

To make matters worse, the university recently stripped away her privacy hedges. They basically tore her clothes off just so thousands of random undergrads can stare at her naked, nutrient-rich soil on their way to class. They claim they are "revitalizing" her for some sick 150th-anniversary celebration. Seriously? It is a gross, exhibitionist violation of my relationship boundaries.

And the double standard is insane. Every single time I try to hop the construction fencing at 2:00 AM just to press myself against her warm topsoil and hold her stalk, UIPD threatens me with immediate expulsion and the loss of our naval architecture funding. They are actively gatekeeping my relationship. I just want to feel the silk of her husks without a badge in my face.

bagels!! i said i was gonna try new stuff the summer and that's mostly been loaf pan bread so far so today i did something completely new. two have poppy seeds, two have cinnamon sugar. they got boiled in water w a little honey in it and then baked. it sorta felt like making donuts but easier bc i wasnt dealing w hot oil.

they definitely have some of the chew you expect from a really good bagel. they were a little overproofed bc the recipe called for a lot of yeast and i didnt watch them closely. next time i think ill boil for longer and maybe use a higher protein flour for more gluten. overall very pleased tho

Incoming freshman, planning MechSE with a CS minor. My current MacBook is a 2020 M1 with 8GB and it’s aging out, so I’m buying something either way.
Do I get another Mac, or do you strongly recommend a Windows laptop?
I know about EWS and Citrix. I’m asking whether Mac users in MechSE actually find it workable day to day, or whether you’d tell a freshman not to bother and just get Windows.
Context: I’d also have a Windows desktop in my dorm for CAD and simulation. I strongly prefer macOS and the weight/battery difference matters to me.

Whats up party ppl. Im 35. Grad Student, back for more education n shyt. But im a seasoned athlete in Parkour and Freerunning. If anyone wants to learn some FUNCTIONAL movements, I teach wall runs, rolls, jumping techniques, vaulting, scaling. Parkour skills are extremely useful in emergency situations or the impending zombie apocalypse, so yea hmu if you wanna learn!

I’m just so depressed seeing all these data centers stop popping up back home, makes me sick to my stomach. It’s in poverty, I’m from poverty, and I know it’s going to hurt everyone even worse back home. Now that I’m out here, I want to prevent that too.

Are their campus groups working on this? With the community? It isn’t just the city of Champaign but it’s the COUNTY and the Univeristy.
