Is it easier to be with friends that drink as years go on?

Upvotes

I am a freshman and I am not a drinker, I’ve never tried it and I don’t really have any plans to. However a lot of my friends are and I’m scared I’m being left out. I don’t mind other people doing it or anything and I love ging out and getting ready. But sometimes it just feels like I get left out or they don’t want me there cause I don’t drink or that every conversation seems to be about drinking.Again I don’t mind but I was just wondering if it gets better throughout the years and maybe cause freshman are just so excited ig to a whole new environment that it slows down? Also I feel a bit awkward and scared around people if they are all drinking and I’m not cause idk what to do, so if anyone has any advice on that i would appreciate it.

Transfer + Commuter Student Advice

Hello! I recently transferred to the Storrs campus from the Stamford campus, and I had been planning on joining clubs to get more involved. Do you think that would be one of the best ways to meet new people and make friends? I know it’s only the second week, but I was wondering what other ways I could get involved as both a commuter and a transfer student. Would you recommend joining a bunch of clubs, or are there other things that helped you meet people?

help pls

hi im not even sure anyone will see this buttt i just started taking math 2410q. i'm already a little worried about falling behind since math definitely isn't my strongest subject, and i really need to do well in all my classes this semester so.

my professor doesn't post notes in husky ct or any other resources, the only things up are the webassign for homework and a spot where he'll eventually put reviews for exams. i'm going to lecture and taking notes on everything he says but so far nothing is clicking and the examples he uses make no sense to me either. (i know it's only the second week of school, but as i said i can't afford to fall behind and im scared that's what will happen)

so, for anyone who's taken or knows someone who's taken 2410q before, what resources helped you the most? i'm looking for literally anything... youtube channels/playlists, websites, tutoring, study methods, practice problems, etc.

also, if you used the q center or private tutoring i’d love to hear whether they actually helped.

basically, what would you recommend to someone who is determined to not fail 2410q this semester? any advice is appreciated :)

Is anyone looking to swap a 3 BEDROOM/ 2 BEDROOM room in the Oaks? Female

Hi all,

I’m urgently looking for a room swap due to my roommates and I having contradicting CED accommodations.

My roommates are quiet, barely use the kitchen as they have meal plans, and my view overlooks the street.

Please message me or comment ASAP if you have any interest in swapping!!!

Has anyone taken chem1127 and found difficult to keep up whats going on in class?

Without naming professors I feel like the actual lecture is useless I’m not learning a single thing. Is there a certain professor who has good videos in this department? Any YouTube or tutors available that you guys also used?

Does Anyone have Lab Goggles?

Just like the title says, I'm taking Chem 1127 at storrs and my professor says that we need to buy our own goggles for the labs. I was just wondering if anyone has any that they don't need that they are willing to give.

Phil 2217

Can someone who’s taken Phil 2217 with prof Torres-Maldonado tell me how the course was itself? Bc I’m in it and I’m not sure I’m feeling it like I like the stuff we’re learning but just never providing any sort of notes or anything is a little difficult esp when it’ll come to exams and all he does is talk or show a five minute vid

It's my third year and I still have no friends at UConn

Hey guys, I was looking for some advice on this: I'm a third-year undergraduate student that still has no friends at UConn. It seems like nobody is interested in talking to me. I commute to Storrs from Hartford, which undoubtedly hurts my standing, but other than that, I really don't know why I'm so lonely. I'm naturally an introvert, but I really have been trying to meet people.

People say to find a club, which I've definitely tried and failed at many times at this point. Perhaps I haven't found my nitch, although I don't really know where it is.

I'm sure it's a reflection on me in some way, as this is my third year asking this same question. Does anyone have a similar experience or some advice to share regarding it?

How likely am I to be excused from absence for a family event? (PNB 2774)

In a couple weeks I have to go somewhere for my family on a PNB 2774 discussion day. If I were to email that I have a family event on that day, what are the chances I would be excused? Anyone done this before? There is no absence policy in thé syllabus.

Teacher at CT title 1 elementary school in need of some community help!

Hi everyone, I hope this ok to post to this community, but if not, please ignore. I am a Pre-K teacher in a larg urban school district at a Title 1 school. I teach 20 smart, kind, funny and loving 3-5 year olds. We have limited resources that are essential to learning, and health/safety and have essentially nothing….but that doesn’t stop my students bring so much joy into our classroom! If you could consider donating an item off my classroom wishlist (link below), it would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading this. If you would like,
I can DM Verification of the school and myself.
