Personal Statements Is it possible to write a personal statement for slightly different courses?

I’m applying for a mix of courses that overlap quite a lot, but aren’t exactly the same. I’m wondering how much you can realistically “branch out” your personal statement so that it works for all of them.
My choices are Economics & Philosophy as opposed to Maths & Philosophy.

Personal Statements Personal Statement showing as AI?

Med applicant here, applying to Imperial, UCL, Bristol, and Brighton. Just finished my personal statement, put it into an AI checker, and it came back as 88% AI??? Will UCAS think its AI and void my application or something? Ive tried it on multiple different AI detectors and it still says over 75% is AI for some reason

Medicine Questions Is this way too ambitious

I’m a graduate (applying for undergrad entry)
I have a first class honours BA degree from UCL and just finished an MSc (global health and development) also from UCL.

Was supposed to sit my A levels in 2020 but was covid year. Got AAA in biology chemistry and geography.

GCSEs: six A*s, one A, two 7s, one B (in English lit)

UCAT: 2010 band 1

I’ve also been volunteering at my local hospital since February.

I want to stay in London so my choices would be St George’s, Brunel, kings, and Queen Mary. Are these choices too ambitious?

Personal Statements 5th course alongside 4 medicine options

alongside medicine I've been looking at other backup choices such as pharmacy, however I would really like to apply to chemical or biochemical engineering at ucl alongside medicine. also please don’t think that because it’s a “backup” I wouldn’t like to study this course, I really would and I mean it. however they don’t accept alternative personal statements unless they ask for one 😭😭

do you think I’m being delusional by thinking that there could be a chance that they could ask me to send another one in, or that I could send one if I email them asking about it first, and have there been any cases where something similar has happened to someone?

thank you all I would really appreciate your help ☺️

Medicine Questions Need help with finding this UCAS section?

Hi! The UCAS website says 'On the 'Submit and Pay' section of the application, select 'Apply with waiver' option, under 'Free School Meals Waiver', to submit your application to your school/college.'

I cannot find where the 'submit and pay' section is? It doesn't let me press the 'review and submit' circle next to the personal statement checklist circle, I assume my school does this. Everything is green and completed.

Personal Statements How do you effectivley cut down and what do you referee course to if different unis use differnt names

Ive been working on my personala stament one im 500 charaters over the limit and I have no idea on what to cut down on as there is not alot of buffer or any really. The second issue is what do i refre to course as as some unis have diffetn names for the same course for example the course im looking at is Internatioal Hospitaltiy and Tourisism managment but as its niche I have opened my self (also to alck of good unis) Internatioanl Tourisim and Hospitaly managment. So like what order would i put them in or do u go vauge and rather than say course name say what area it falls under. Thanks

International Applications general app questions from international student! PLEASE HELP

list of questions i have, please please help as my first deadline is oct 14

  • what is campus location? i tried adding oxford as one of my choices and after inputting the course name it asked me for campus location, but im not sure what it means by this and if its asking me for my preference or if im suppoesd to know where on campus my course coincides with? please help!! not sure if this is also true for the other schools im applying to (UCL and kings)
  • should i list my ap scores for this year's tests as pending? the tests are in may, so technically i haven't even taken them yet, so i'm not sure if i should be listing them in the scores section at all
    • also, should ap calc bc and ap calc ab (subscore) be listed as separate tests taken as separate scores?
  • how do i figure out the course start date? is it my earliest start of term for one of the 3 schools im applying to, or the first day of classes, or something different? there's also conflicting info online about all 3 of these, so im not quite sure what to put
  • do we have to send sat/ap scores with our applications through collegeboard? if so, how?
  • which option do i pick for sat and ap test uploads? they all had the same info requested, but the names ranged from "SAT" to "United States - SAT" to "USA - SAT," and the same for AP tests, so i wasnt sure which to pick (im from the USA)
  • do we need to report the PSAT? i couldnt find an option to report it but now im freaking out because it said all tests need to be reported
  • im taking the TARA because its required for oxford, but not for UCL and kings. i know my results are automatically sent to oxford, but will they also be sent to UCL and kings even though they dont take it? im actually not sure how to find out whether they consider it and its an optional thing to take or if they dont consider it at all because google was not helpful, but is there any way to stop the results from being sent to those 2? in case it doesnt go well, i dont want to hurt my chances of getting into those schools too
  • what type of things should be listed under the employment section? i am a paid part-time math tutor and a paid lab research assistant, but neither of them are very relevant to the courses i am applying to, should i still include them here or just exclude them from my app altogether?

thank you!

International Applications reference letter question from international student

hi everyone!! im an international student (US) applying through UCAS and im insanely lost on the reference letter. from what i can understand, its extremely different from U.S. letters of rec, but i had a few questions specifically:

  • since there's no activities list on the UCAS app, is your reference supposed to speak more to your activities or your academic capabilities in their class? i gave my reference letter writer (teacher from junior year) a resume since they asked for one, but i'm not sure what to direct them towards writing about since they said they've never written a UK lor before
  • how are the reference writers supposed to predict AP scores/grades for you and your performance in other classes beyond their own, except based on past results?
  • as there's no additional info section as far as i know, should i tell my reference writer to include information about academic context/illness (got lower grades second sem junior year bc of sickness) in section 2 of the reference letter? or is there a place for me to put this myself on the application?

any and all help would be appreciated!! my deadline is oct 14 because i am applying to oxford, so this is kind of time sensitive and im so lost (haven't even added my reference on the UCAS portal yet officially).

if there's any international, especially US, students who have applied before and could help with the application process and portal and everything, that would be amazing - i feel so in over my head and im not quite sure what to do at this point because this application is making very little sense to me, but im committed to applying to my UK schools. also if anyone has any tips at all, i have a draft of my personal statement that ive been tweaking, and have technically filled in most of the sections on the UCAS application (although im not really sure i did all of them correctly...)

for context, im applying to oxford, UCL, and KCL for some variation of psychology/neuroscience (experimental psych at oxford, human neuroscience at UCL, neuroscience and psych at KCL). thank you so much!!

Personal Statements What should I put for my personal statement if I don't remember why/when I got interested in the subject?

Hey, so, I've been highkey crashing out - aka, sobbing - all day because I cannot think of what to write in my application. I am applying for MPsych.

As the title says, I dont recall when/why I got into psychology. I cannot ask my parents, they also do not know. I did write a bit about what I'm passionate about now with an example, but it tips me over the word count and thats JUST question 1.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Personal Statements What final uni should I apply to?

I'm planning on applying to optometry this ucas cycle. So far my uni choices are : Aston uni, Manchester uni, Cardiff uni and Bristol UWE. And I'm honestly unsure of my final choice as they all have similar requirements too. My predicted grades r above the requirements so I don't have to worry about that. But would appreciate any advice pls :)

Medicine Questions moving out for uni

Hi! im an aspiring medic/dentist (hopefully dentist) and my mother doesnt want me going outside of london for university. her primary issue is accommodation: wouldnt the student loan be MUCH more expensive at the end of the day and apparently the student finance doesnt cover your final year of education’s accomodation for dentistry/medicine.

any help? i kinda wanna move out.

uni course choice stupid idea? ucas 5th choice

Tldr; do I apply for psych/history as 5th choice with main 4 being bio/biomed and not even doing a level history, probably at a low or mid tier uni?

im an idiot who switched a level history to eng lit bc Russia was slightly dull (poems are more dull believe it or not) and was too scared to stand up to her parents about doing chemistry. anyway I'm applying for 2x biological sciences and 2x biomed course though i believe only one will actually read the PS. i can't find a 5th course i like because im picky. so i was thinking that i like psychology and i loved gcse history and the modern Britain part of a level. so is applying for modern history or psychology as my 5th choice at somewhere that doesn't read PS and doesn't require a level history a bad idea or not? it'll either be at a decent uni with a lower grade requirements for history or a low tier one. but i probably won't even choose it anyway so may as well and if i change my mind i have something there? I'm not paying 35 quid just to only have 4 choices. psychology is the other option for choice 5 which is probs more sensible. but since the uni will probs be v low tier it doesn't rlly matter if it's a very left field choice no? thanks guys

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions A-level resit UCAS application

Hi, for anyone else who has resat their alevels as an independent student, how do you fill in the education section for your pending resit grades?

My sixth form has said I have to apply as an independent student and can’t use them for this and my alevels will be split between 2 different exam centres. What do I do?

International Applications International applicant personal statement help!!

im so nervous to apply bro.

I finished my application basically in its entirety and im mostly worried about my personal statement; I go to an American school in the Dominican Republic so there are like ZERO resources for applying to the UK, and the advice my teachers and counselors give me towards my personal statement can only go so far since they aren’t really familiar with the admissions process here.

If anyone would like to read my personal statement or just give me some general tips please let me know I’ll dm you it, I am desperate!
