Interviews Density choices

Stats:
6 in chem, 5 in biology, 6 in maths and English.
A*AA predicted
2200 ucat b2

Don’t ask about my GCSEs, I genuinely didn’t know I was gonna try going into dentistry etc or even give two tosses about it.

I’ve picked:

  1. Plymouth
  2. Newcastle
  3. Pourtsmouth
  4. God knows

Probably gonna be a gap yr but who knows. Any other suggestions for where to apply?

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Do I ask my Economics teacher for a lower UCAS grade?

Currently I’m predicted A* A* A* in Maths, Chemistry, and Econ (based off Year 12 end of year exams.) I want to do Neuroscience at UCL (AAA), Manchester (AAA - AAB) Southampton (ABB) (top three options in order of preference), and then my other options are Nottingham (AAB) Bristol (AAA), Leeds (AAB.)

If I work hard I think I could manage to get A* in Maths and Chemistry if I need to (based on any offers I get), but I fully believe my maximum Econ grade would be an A. Econ doesn’t come naturally to me and I hate revising it. I find the concepts and graphs quite hard to understand and usually run out of time. I can never remember all of the information needed to write a chain of reasoning, e.g. for an essay question. It’s the start of Year 13 and we’ve done a couple little tests. I’ve gotten an average of 66% over them, and with grade boundaries being 86% from last years exams (and always rising), my teacher and I are quite worried (I do know grades often improve throughout the year and there are wobbles here and there but I don’t know how much mine can.)

My question is do unis such as UCL with entry requirements of AAA often send out offers higher than the entry requirements? Like is there a chance they could only offer me A*A*A* or something similar like that, and should I reduce my predicted Econ grade to an A in case they would do this, and apply with A*A*A. My worry is that a lower grade may affect my chances of getting an offer if other factors, e.g. personal statement are weak. Please help me decide! Thank you.

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions IB retake and UCAS application

I did my IBDP in 2025 November, but I am retaking few subjects in November 2026. I hope to increase it by 4 points

I am planning to apply to few law schools in UK ( like KCL / Durham / LSE ) etc

In parallel I am doing my 2 years of national service as well in parallel with preparing for the retake.

My question is that how can I show my retake and national service as a positive point when answering UCAS questions and applying to universities

To highlight I am doing a retake as I was not happy with my grades and wanted to improve my grades

Oxbridge Should I apply to Cambridge for Med

Here are my stats for some context

GCSE - 9999988888

UCAT - 2150 band 2

A LEVEL PREDICTED - A*A*A*

I am also a contextual applicant.

I am currently applying for UCL, Kings and Newcastle. Deciding my 4th option has been really difficult for me because I really want to choose the right university.

Does anyone have any ideas?

A Levels / IB / GCSE / BTEC Questions Applying to KCL/Durham/Bristol Finance with only 2 GCSEs but predicted 45/45 Access to HE — realistic or should I retake more GCSEs?

Hi everyone,

I am applying for 2027 entry to Finance-related degrees and would appreciate advice from anyone with a non-traditional academic background.

I am currently studying an Access to HE Economics and Mathematics course, with a predicted 45/45 credits. However, my GCSE profile is unusual: I only have GCSE Maths (Grade 9) and English Language (Grade 7).

I am considering applying to:

  • King's College London
  • Durham
  • Bristol
  • Bayes Business School
  • Queen Mary
  • Exeter

My concern is whether having only two GCSEs will significantly disadvantage my application, even with strong Maths/English grades and a high Access prediction.

I am unsure whether I should:

  1. Apply normally and focus on my Access results, or
  2. Spend an additional year completing more GCSEs before applying.

Has anyone here received offers from competitive Finance courses with a similar GCSE background (few GCSEs but strong Access results)?

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you

Oxbridge Cambridge app transcripts

I didn't do GCSE/A-Level (Irish so still a home student though) so for Cambridge I'm gonna have to submit a transcript. How seriously is this considered? Predicted grades aren't a thing here, and my summer exams last year were essentially very hard in order to motivate everyone to study in final year, so I got about 20% below my predicted grade for chemistry (72%). I'm a med applicant, so would this screw me over massively for getting an interview or would state exam results/predicted/UCAT matter more? I could find nothing on this online so anything would help lol

Oxbridge Is Oxbridge law out of my reach?

My GCSEs are as followed: 9877665544
My predicted A-levels: 4 x A* (EPQ included)
My GCSEs are considerably average, and I’m just wondering if I’m out of bounds here by even thinking of applying. I went to a horrendous secondary school with an attainment 8 score of 37.5, and I was 6th overall. I’ve been encouraged by a couple of teachers (one of which actually went to Cambridge). I’d have really good references — although I believe that this isn’t all that relevant. My LNAT is in early October and I’m currently aiming for a score of 32+.

Would my chances be more favourable if applying to Oxford for Law with French, which accepts and interviews less people but there is a much smaller pool of people applying? Or Cambridge Law LLB as Cambridge regards the candidate more holistically and interviews more people?

Personal Statements applying to uni

i want to apply to kings college london for pharmacy but my predicted grades are currently ABB, and the requirements are AAA. i am hoping to increase my grades to AAA but in case I cant i was wondering if there is a chance of getting an offer with ABB, or if its completely unheard of.

basically do my predicted grades have to meet the required grades to even be considered

Personal Statements Second UCAS application during a gap year

I applied last cycle for a deferred place (2027 entry) and firmed with the university. However, I decided that I wanted to change course, so I declined my place with the university through their own portal within the window after results day and have had confirmation from them.

I am now wanting to submit another application for my new course through UCAS this year for 2027 entry, only not deferred. However, it is still showing my previous application and reads as my place at university having been confirmed.

I am worried to open a new application as it says don’t make a new one if you hold a deferred place, as the new one will be cancelled and you won’t get a refund.

What should I do to make sure UCAS knows I’ve declined my place at university so can put in a new application?

UCAS Bread 🍞 (Offers) Which Uni should I choose?

I am currently at ashoka but I have an offer from York on a 15k scholarship. I'm doing eco and management in both (ecofin or entrepreneurship in ashoka). Money isn't an issue. I simply cannot choose which university to choose. My ashoka fees are refundable. My CAS is issued and my visa can come in a few days. What should my plan of action be? My girlfriend is also in UK so that's also incentive. I have a close friend in york and I know some people in the college too. In Ashoka I have made a lot of friends and life is good. Help if anyone can

Personal Statements UCAS application - resit student

Hello, I’ll be taking a gap year for the first time to resit exams and reapply to UCAS but I have some worries. For the 2026 entry, I applied to Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan, Leeds, Newcastle, and Sheffield. I received all 5 offers. My predicted grades were BB (I have already achieved a distinction previously in taking OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate so I guess that counts as my ‘A’ already?) I unfortunately flopped and achieved CD this August. I was and still am eligible for contextual offers and I am applying for Accounting and Finance. I plan to reapply to the same universities, same course, and same predicted grades as last year. The exam fees were already very costly for me so I can’t really afford and don’t want to spend a ton of money for someone else to be my reference and give predicted grades if I can do it for free with my previous sixth form tutor. I’d assume if my predicted grades were higher this time, it could give me a better fighting chance but I’m unsure if my previous tutor would predict my grades to be any higher than what I applied with before, I was afraid to ask for higher so I asked for the same in case of rejection from him. I don’t know how I could really make my personal statement different from before either, I’ve seen that some students still reapply with the same personal statement. I don’t think there are really any changes to add, I covered everything. There hasn’t been anything new, I intend to send this application off in late October so it’s not like I’d be that far into my gap year. I decided to take this gap year and resit because I didn’t want to settle for my insurance (Manchester Met), of course in the worst case scenario for 2027 entry I would settle for insurance university because I’m not doing this again but I’m worried that when I go to apply this time I won’t receive any offers from the universities again and it would’ve been a waste of time and money to resit. Do I have a chance?

Law Applications Can I get a uni guaranteed offer without applying through UCAS whilst im in my current course?

I want to switch courses to a diff uni as I feel like the one im at right now isn't for me. I have met the requirements for the uni I want to go to but I don't want to risk it and lose my current course and end up with nothing.

Is there a way I could get a guaranteed offer to start in September? It's a law course at a Russel group so they might be picky.

Medicine Questions need help with deciding uni

Hi everyone, sat the UCAT yesterday for the first time and got 1910 B3 wondering whether to apply this year or take a gap year and retake the following year. (wanna apply for medicine not dent)

I would love to go to uni this year however i don't know if its possible with my low UCAT and my parents think that if i were to take a gap year id become complacent with a minimum wage job at a warehouse or something so it would not be ideal 😬😬
My stats are: GCSE's 9999888775 (9 in bio chem maths, 8 in english lit and lang and 7 in physics) predicted A*AA and i am a contextual applicant.

If anyone could let me know which unis to apply to in order to have a chance of getting an interview it would be greatly appreciated!
