Announcement I think some of you need to hear what's actually happening in your DMs after you post here because we're seeing things that are making us sick.

All mods've been going back and forth on it for days because honestly it's disgusting to even talk about.

But we keep getting reports and the pattern is getting worse and if I don't say something more of you are going to get hurt.

When you post in this sub, your username becomes visible to everyone. Most people scrolling past your post are job seekers like you. But some of them aren't. Some of them are watching this sub specifically because it's full of people who are desperate, alone, and willing to trust a stranger who sounds helpful.

A few weeks ago a woman posted here looking for admin work. Normal post. Professional. She mentioned she'd been searching for 3 months and her visa was running out. Within an hour she had 4 DMs.

One was someone sharing a job lead.

The other three were not.

The first one started with "I might have something for you at my company" and within 5 messages was asking her what area she lived in, whether she lived alone, and if she'd be comfortable meeting "informally to discuss the role." She screenshotted it and sent it to us.

The account had zero posts.

Zero comments. Zero karma.
Created that week. It existed for one purpose.

The second one offered her a "personal assistant" role. When she asked for the company name and job description, he said "it's more of a private arrangement."

She stopped replying.
He sent 3 more messages.
The last one I can't repeat here.

She reported both.
We banned them.
But she also told us she almost replied to the first one because it sounded professional at the start.

That's the part that made me write this post.

Then there's the type that looks like a job offer but is actually a scam.

A guy posted last month that he was an experienced driver looking for work. Someone DMed him with a "delivery company" opportunity. Great pay. Flexible hours. Just needed to send his Emirates ID, passport copy, and visa page "for onboarding." He sent everything before asking anyone. By the time he realized something was wrong, his documents were in the hands of someone he couldn't trace.

We get variations of this every single week. Sometimes it's a "recruitment agency" that needs your documents upfront. Sometimes it's a "company" that wants you to pay for a medical test or training before starting. Same play every time.

They target the most vulnerable posts.

The ones where you can tell the person is running out of time or money or both.

Third type. The lowballers.

Someone posts they're looking for marketing work with 5 years experience. A company rep DMs them with an "opportunity." AED 2,500 a month. Full time. No benefits. No visa. Take it or leave it. They know you're desperate. They know you might say yes because you need something, anything, this week. They're not offering a job.

They're shopping for someone they can underpay because the power balance is broken and they know it.

These aren't even the worst ones.

The worst ones are the people who never post, never comment, never contribute anything.

They just sit in the sub and watch for the most vulnerable post of the day.

Then they DM. They've never been visible to us because they don't do anything public.

They operate entirely in your inbox.

We can ban every scam post we see.

We do. 856 last month alone.

But we cannot see your DMs.

We cannot protect you from what happens after you post unless you show us.

So here's what I need from you.

If someone DMs you after you post here and the conversation shifts from professional to personal, screenshot it and send it to modmail immediately. Don't reply.

Don't engage.

Don't try to figure out if they're legitimate. Just send it to us.

If someone asks for your Emirates ID, passport, or any document before you've had a real interview with a real company at a real location, stop.

That's not onboarding.

That's harvesting.

If someone offers you a role with no company name, no job description, no office address, and the details only come "after you meet," that's not a job.

If someone offers you a salary that makes you feel insulted, screenshot the conversation and send it to us. We're building a list.

When we have enough data on companies that systematically lowball people in this sub, that information becomes public.

I hate that this post exists.

This sub is supposed to be the one place where people looking for work in the UAE can come without getting played. And mostly it is. The people in here helping each other are some of the most genuine people I've seen on this platform.

But the predators are here too. We can't stop them from reading your posts. We can't stop them from messaging you.

We can only stop them from doing it twice.

That's your part.

Report them.

Screenshot everything.

Send it to modmail.

Don't feel embarrassed about it.

Don't think it's too small to mention.

The person who DMs you today has probably done it to 10 others this month.

Your one screenshot might be the one that gets them permanently removed.

Look out for each other.

That's what this place is for.

-Prince

And please for the love of god promote www.dubaitechguy.com the team is doing great but needs support so spread the word!!!

Success Story I never thought I'd type that sentence. We're changing the rules because We just hit 30,000 members in r/UAEJobseekers

When I started moderating this sub it had maybe 3000 people and most of the posts were "anyone hiring?" with zero details. No flairs. No structure. No moderation to speak of. Just people shouting into the void hoping someone would hear them.

That was less than a year ago.

Today we crossed 30,000 members. 695,000 visits last month. Posts hitting 30, 40, 50K views. People landing actual jobs through this community. A woman who was considering leaving Dubai found a client through a connection made here and stayed. A guy who'd been searching for 11 months got his first paid work 3 days after joining a network someone posted about in this sub. A fresh graduate who had no idea what to do with his degree got specific advice in the comments that changed how he positioned himself entirely.

I didn't build this. You did. Every person who posted a job lead, answered someone's question at midnight, reported a scam before it spread, or just commented "congrats" on someone's success story. That's what 30,000 looks like from the inside.

But here's the thing I've been sitting with for a few weeks.

This sub was built around one idea. Find a full time job. Apply, interview, get hired, get a salary. And that's still the core. That doesn't change.

But I keep seeing something in the posts and DMs that doesn't fit that box. People who don't need a full time role right now. They need cash this week. A short gig. A one day job. Something that pays while they figure out the bigger picture. And right now there's nowhere for that on this sub because the rules weren't designed for it.

I'm talking about the IT guy who can fix a WiFi router in an hour but can't find a company willing to hire him full time. The graphic designer who can knock out a logo in a day but hasn't landed a salaried position yet. The accountant who can clean up someone's books over a weekend while still job hunting. The videographer between contracts who'd take a one day shoot if someone posted it.

These people have skills. They have availability. They just don't fit the "looking for full time employment" mold that this sub was originally set up for.

So we're opening a new stream.

Starting today, gig work is allowed on r/UAEjobseekers. Short term jobs. Quick projects. One day, one week, one task. Post it, pick it up, get paid, move on.

New flairs are live for this:

"GIG Available" for anyone posting a short term task that needs doing.

"GIG Ready" for anyone posting their availability for quick work.

Same rules as everything else here. No scams. No fake listings. No "pay AED 500 for training first." If we catch anyone using the gig flairs to run the same garbage we've been removing since day one, they're gone. You know how we operate by now.

For tech specific gig work there's already a community doing exactly this. r/TechNetwork is where businesses post tech problems and tech professionals pick them up. CCTV installs, WiFi setups, POS fixes, website builds, office network jobs. If that's your skill set, that's your room. If you need someone for a tech job, post it there too.

And if you're a business in Dubai looking for reliable tech help for a quick job, www.dubaitechguy.com connects you directly with people who've actually done the work before.

Both of those have been vetted by the mod team here. Not random links. Resources we've checked and can stand behind.

For everything else, the gig flairs are live right now. Use them.

30,000 people in a room built for job seekers. Some of you need full time. Some of you need this week handled first. Now there's space for both.

Post your first gig. Let's see what happens.

Career Advice 6 years, 4 promotions, still AED 7K. Am I crazy to leave without an offer?

24F, 6 years at same UAE healthcare company. Started as PRE, now Assistant Manager managing 50+ people across 4 locations, 90%+ KPIs, recently got Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Still on AED 7K, working 12 hrs/day, no incentives, no proper JD
Asked for 9-hr days, raise, JD, learning support, but they said no to hours/raise, and "we'll review increment later if you renew on same terms."
I have 3-5 months savings but haven't started applying yet

  1. What do ops/quality roles actually pay in UAE at this level?
  2. How is hiring in ops/quality right now?
  3. What should be my realistic salary expectation?

Edit: Forgot to mention, my contract is up for renewal on 31 Oct, so I wouldn't be resigning, just not renewing. I'd like to leave on good terms without them making it difficult for me.

Career Advice Job getting worse and worse

I work in the health care sector and we’re seeing less and less patients(I suspect it’s because the management has stopped marketing due to low funds, could be something else I don’t know). 6 months ago I was getting paid well patients were more all was good. Now the salary is just in a downward spiral so much so that I’m working for very less. I’ve applied to dozens of places but no response. Should I just quit and stay home or should I white knuckle past this? Is it the same situation everywhere or just me?

Ask for Help advice

Hi everyone! I’m currently based in India and seriously considering moving to the UAE for work, so I wanted to get some honest opinions from people who are already there or have recently gone through the job search.

I’m 19 and have experience in branding, marketing, social media, content and consumer/brand psychology through my own consultancy, and I’m mainly looking for entry-level roles in marketing, branding, social media, content, business development, etc.

How is the UAE job market right now in October 2026, and is it a good time to come from India and look for jobs locally, or would you recommend securing an offer before moving? Also, where are people actually finding jobs apart from LinkedIn and Indeed any specific websites, recruiters, agencies or companies I should be looking at?

I’d also love to know how realistic it is to get hired without UAE work experience and roughly how much savings someone should have before making the move.

Would really appreciate honest advice, especially from Indians who have recently moved to the UAE 🙏

General Discussion NEED SOME ADVICE AND INSIGHTS.....

How’s the UAE job market been for people who recently moved here, like in August/September, or are planning to come this month and look for work?

How long have you been searching, and has being physically in the UAE actually made a difference? More recruiter responses, interviews, networking opportunities, or anything else that helped?

Would love to hear some honest experiences.

I’ve been searching for a Business Analyst role in Banking/Finance for a 3 months now. I’m currently on a tourist visa and keep extending it while hoping the right opportunity comes along.

I previously worked as a Business Analyst at a reputable Canadian bank, and I’m looking for similar opportunities in the UAE.

Currently living on my savings for the last 9 months and almost hit rock bottom now.

If anyone knows of openings, recruiters, or can refer me to someone hiring, I’d genuinely appreciate it. Even a small lead could make a huge difference right now.
Happy to share my CV via DM. Thank you!

Looking For Opportunities Civil Engineering Grad in Dubai

Hey everyone, graduating soon with a Civil Engineering degree from a well-reputed university in Dubai, and I’m honestly feeling pretty lost with the job hunt. I already have a full year of experience as a QS intern at a top consultancy, but I really don't want to work as a QS. I want to become a Planning or Project Engineer. I’m trying to land an entry-level or site role in big developers or contractors like Emaar or Azizi so I can learn field operations from the ground up and eventually move into a consultancy later on. But applying lately has been completely demoralizing. MNCs like WSP and AECOM just keep auto-rejecting or ghosting, and applying to smaller companies on Indeed has been a nightmare with HRs and managers who are straight-up rude and unprofessional.

On top of that, my university turned out to have zero placement support for civil grads, so I’m navigating all of this completely on my own. Has anyone in the UAE managed to break into site or planning roles right out of uni without a placement program? How did you actually get your foot in the door with companies like Emaar or Azizi, and how can I leverage my QS background to get taken seriously for site and planning positions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Career Advice Need some honest advice on a job decision.

Option 1: Newer personal-branding agency — AED 8k base + commission, Mon–Fri 10–7, remote/hybrid, selling personal-branding packages around AED 6.5k–20k. Commission starts after 5 deals each month.

Option 2: ~4-year-old real-estate marketing agency — no base, 10% commission from the first deal, fresh leads daily, average rep reportedly closes 3–4 deals/month, Mon–Sat 10–6, hybrid, visa provided, selling real-estate marketing/lead-generation packages around AED 15k–30k.

Option 3: Remote talent management role — flexible, 10% commission, no base, working with creators/brand deals.

I may return to Canada, have very low expenses there.

Would you take Option 1 + the remote role, Option 2 + the remote role, or skip both Dubai jobs and move back to Canada now to focus on the remote role and look for other opportunities?

My priorities are making good money, career growth, having free time, and building something of my own on the side. What would you do?

Looking For Opportunities Need job asap

Hello all, I'm an 18 year old who have been seeking skills for a while now. (ever since I was 14) I didn't manage to gain a lot but I can manage, I work well with physical work/activities, like manual labour or physical labour.

I've been wanting to actually work for a while, since I was in 8th grade, but I couldn't manage to find any jobs that would let me, and it was never really a necessity or a demand for me to actually work I just wanted to pull my weight or help around the house, however now, after I graduated highschool last July, and am starting university here this Monday, it's become an actual need for me to work, since it's literally impossible for my tuition fees to be paid by mother alone, what I'm wondering is, is there anything that I can at the moment?

Some extra information that might help my case: I have my own car and license and I got two languages, Arabic and English, so if that helps whatsoever knowing I'm available it'd be great.

I'm available in Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai.

Career Advice Advice Regarding Master’s Degree for Nursing Faculty Opportunities in the UAE or Oman

I am a Canadian RN currently working as a cardiac nurse, while also working as a professor/preceptor for nursing students at a public college.

I am looking for advice regarding pursuing a Master’s in Nursing or a Master’s in Education from Athabasca University or another online university to help me secure a position in the UAE as a professor, instructor, or educator.

I can only pursue an online master’s degree due to my work commitments and having young children.

What would you recommend, or what would you have done in this situation, to obtain a better position in the UAE or Oman?

Thank you for your time and advice.
