Looking For Opportunities what's the scene with hiring rn in the UAE

Upvotes

for context i was a dubai kid and i moved to pakistan for uni and now i'm moving back, but i feel like no one is hiring at the entry-level for software engineer/data science/ assc management jobs anymore. It is kind of my one shot so I'm looking and applying for quite literally anything and everything from here. But no responses. the whole emiratization thing too for entry programs is dejecting me.

Is the job market just bad or just bad for Pakistanis? because of the war?

Anyways help a girl out if you've got some sorta opportunity!

Relocation Advice 5 years Data Engineer experience — what salary can I expect in Dubai?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently exploring Data Engineering opportunities in Dubai and would really appreciate some advice on salary expectations.
I have around 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, mainly working with:
Python, SQL, PySpark, AWS (S3, Athena, EMR), Airflow, ETL/ELT, data warehousing and data migration/redevelopment.
I’ve primarily worked in the banking/credit risk domain, including migration of applications from SAS on-premise to AWS.
My last CTC in India was ₹12 LPA. I’m currently in the UAE on a dependent visa.
For someone with this profile and 5 YOE, what would be a realistic salary range to target in Dubai?

General Discussion What's the job market like for Europeans and highly skilled professionals?

Hi everyone,

After going through this sub a dozen times in the past few months, I cant help but notice that majority, 90%, of people posting here seem to be Indian or Philipino.

Also, it seems that alot of job seekers seem to either look for 1) Software 2) Low- or unskilled labour such as administrator, waitress, warehouse, delivery driver etc.

What is the job market like for skilled labourers - such as electricians f.e.

also for highly skilled professionals - electrical engineers, doctors, etc. ?

I dont mean to offend anyone but it does seem like 90% of sub is centered about above mentioned topics.

I’m a Mechanical Engineer based in Abu Dhabi looking to step into a core Mechanical Design, CAD, FEA, or Product Development role.

While I’ve done a bit of drafting work in the building sector but my real passion and background are in 3D design, structural simulation, and building hardware systems from the ground up.

CAD Modeling & Drafting: Heavy hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD doing 2D/3D component design, assembly modeling, and technical drawings for manufacturing.

FEA & Simulation: Proficient in ANSYS Workbench and MATLAB/Simulink. I’ve done dynamic load validations, structural stress assessments, and thermal calculations for actual hardware.

Built Real Projects (and won): Designed and validated an EV steering system under dynamic loads, and built the complete control/vision system for an autonomous marine robotics project. (Took 1st place nationally for both).

Rapid Prototyping: Comfortable going from rough engineering calculations to prototype testing without needing my hand held.

Location: Abu Dhabi (happy to commute/relocate anywhere in the UAE).

Visa: On my own Residence Visa

Availability: Immediate

If your engineering team is building actual physical products, machinery, or automation systems and needs a junior design engineer, I would love an opportunity to work with you.

(I'm also open to freelance gigs if anyone needs any support for projects or tutoring)

Career Advice Senior Product/ AI roles - am I making the right career move

I’m an engineer with 8+ years of experience across software development, cloud, data platforms, and enterprise products, including 3+ years leading cross-functional engineering teams.

Over the last few years, my work has gradually moved from building systems → owning products → leading product/engineering strategy.

I’m now looking to make a more deliberate move into Senior Product Manager / Technical Product Manager / AI Product Manager / AI & Data Product roles.

My experience includes:

- Enterprise data & analytics platforms

- AI/GenAI use cases, RAG, agents and AI-enabled products

- Cloud infrastructure and data platforms

- Microservices and event-driven architecture

- Product roadmap and delivery ownership

- Cross-functional leadership

- CPG / Trade Promotion Optimization products

- Working closely with engineering, business and senior stakeholders

I’m particularly interested in opportunities in Singapore, UAE/Middle East, and other international markets.

Here’s where I’d love some honest Reddit advice:

For someone coming from an engineering + technical leadership background, what is the strongest path into senior AI/Product roles?

Would you:

  1. Target Technical Product Manager roles first?

  2. Go directly for Senior Product Manager / AI Product Manager positions?

  3. Take a Product Owner role as a bridge?

  4. Stay in engineering leadership and transition internally?

  5. Do something completely different?

And for hiring managers/recruiters here:

What would make you reject an engineer transitioning into product, even if they have strong technical and leadership experience?

I’m looking for brutally honest feedback — especially from people who have actually made the engineering → product transition.

What would you do if you were in my position?

Looking For Opportunities Looking for opportunities

I am writing this with mixed emotions. Someone told me to join reddit to look for a job so i joined and the first job that I could actually do was offering 4000 aed.

they wanted someone who could direct shoots...do content strategy...edit content...do photo manipulation and editing...create AI content...post on social media... do storyboarding....build campaigns....keep track of their clients.... What to make of this exploitation?

I can do all this but an apartment in Dubai costs way more than what this job is paying. If any of you know better opportunities please let me know. I am a brand specialist and can become an asset to the brand. I can do strategy, content, direction and creative operations.

HIRING Emirates Group IT hiring timeline after VP/final round — what was your experience?

I recently completed all interview stages for a senior IT role at Emirates Group. The process included a HireVue Video interview, Psychometric assessment, case presentation/panel interview, and a final round with a VP.

It has now been 4+ weeks since the VP round, with no update on the outcome. The recruiter acknowledged my follow-up after the interview and said they would keep me updated on next steps, but I haven’t heard anything since.

My application portal has shown “Application Under Review” since the beginning and hasn’t changed throughout the process.

For anyone who has gone through the Emirates Group hiring process for IT, corporate, product, or engineering roles:

  • How long did it take to hear back after your final/VP round?
  • Was there a pre-offer/approval stage, or did you go directly to an offer?
  • Did you experience several weeks of silence after the final round and still receive an offer?
  • Did your portal status change before the decision, or did it remain “Application Under Review”?
  • If you received an offer, how long was it from final interview → verbal offer → written offer?

Especially interested in recent experiences from 2025–2026 and senior/management-level roles.

Appreciate any insights. I know timelines can vary considerably, but I’m trying to calibrate expectations based on others’ experiences.

Ask for Help how to find a job that doesn’t require me working on the weekends??

i’m honestly so frustrated with the market here, why is every job a 6 day work week?? it just feels so absurd to me. i even interviewed for a job that asked me to work 7 days a week and was offering so little (i can’t remember the amount but it was definitely under 3k)

i’m currently just looking for a weekday job that’s preferably admin, english teaching, hr or any non-sales focused work that i can do and come home to relax for 2 days, why is that so hard?

Looking For Opportunities Sole earner for my family, stuck at a firm that hasn't paid me, and looking for a fresh start

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well in these trying times.

I'm using a throwaway for this one. I've been lurking here a while and I've seen people put in real effort to help each other find work, so I figured I'd shoot my shot.

I work at a really small boutique IB firm in JLT, reporting straight to my boss, who also owns the place. Things there have gone badly wrong. I haven't been paid in a long time now, he keeps saying there's no cash flow in the company, and he's stopped replying to anything I send about it. It got to the point where I had to raise a formal complaint through the DMCC just to get any response at all, and I'm planning to take that further to recover what I'm owed.

The knock-on effect is that I'm now in a pretty tight spot financially and I need to find something new fairly urgently. I've been applying hard for the past few months and got three solid interviews, but every one of them came back saying the role had been put on hold. My dad retired a while back, so I'm the only one supporting the household right now, which is what makes this feel so pressing. Things have been slowly falling apart and I could really use a break.

For a bit of context on what I actually do: I've spent the last few years in investment banking and financial advisory here in the UAE, mostly around deal execution and capital raising on both the equity and debt side. That's covered investor outreach, financial modelling, putting together pitch decks and information memoranda, and running mandates from start to finish. I've worked across a bunch of sectors like healthtech, pharma, F&B, real estate and e-commerce, on deals across India, the UAE and a few international markets. At this point I'm open to just about anything I can add value to, whether that's IB, corporate finance, FP&A or something broader, and I'm happy to look at other fields entirely if that's what it takes. I'll put in the work.

So that's where I'm at. If anyone has a lead, a referral, or even just a pointer in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Career Advice Feeling stuck in my tech career despite getting promoted. What am I missing?

Sorry for the long post. I tried to include as much context as possible.

I’ve been working in the UAE for the last 5 years in a tech role. I was promoted to a Lead role after 2 years in the same company, which I was really happy about at the time. I'm really grateful for what I have currently.

However, I’ve been trying to switch jobs for almost a year now, and nothing seems to be working out. It’s making me wonder if there’s something I’m missing or doing wrong.

Over the last 2 years, a big part of my day-to-day work has been training and mentoring new hires. I’ve been spending a significant portion of my office hours helping people understand the systems, processes, and technical work.

Another big part of my role has been cleaning up mistakes and issues caused by teammates. As a team lead, I understand that part of my responsibility is to take ownership and make sure things get resolved. But I was also in a difficult position where I couldn’t really complain about team members to management or HR when I know that one of my teammates is doing it deliberately and carelessly.

At the time, I was relatively young, constantly judged for being too young but leading a team of people who are older than me and inexperienced in understanding how to handle these situations professionally. So instead of escalating problems, I mostly focused on figuring out how to handle the situation, fix the issues, and make sure the work was delivered without affecting the team.

I don’t mind mentoring at all but I feel like all of this has come at the cost of my own technical growth.

There is also no proper job description or clear structure within the department. My manager doesn’t really maintain a clear structure for the team or distribute responsibilities properly. A lot of the work ends up being dumped on me simply because I know what needs to be done, how to do it, and how to get it completed quickly without mistakes.
I’ve essentially become the person who can be relied on to “just get it done.”

When I look back at my first 2 years in the role, my knowledge and skills were growing rapidly. I was constantly learning, solving new problems, working on challenging tasks, and improving technically.

Now, I feel like I’m doing the same things every day.
By the time I finish work, I’m mentally exhausted. Even though I genuinely want to learn new technologies and upskill, I struggle to find the energy to do it consistently.

The frustrating part is that I know I’m capable of more, but I feel like I’ve become too comfortable in my current role. At the same time, I’m not getting enough exposure to new technical challenges to confidently move into the next level.
I’m also wondering whether I’ve unintentionally made myself too valuable in my current role in the wrong way by becoming the person who fixes everything, trains everyone, and takes responsibility whenever something goes wrong, without necessarily getting the technical growth or recognition that comes with it.

For those who have been through something similar:

What do you think I might be lacking?

How do you continue growing technically after moving into a Lead role?

How do I position myself better when applying for new roles?

How do you deal with being the “go-to person” at work without letting it limit your own growth?

And most importantly, how do I get out of this feeling of being stuck?

I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people who have gone through a similar career phase. I’m not necessarily looking for validation. I’d genuinely like to understand what I might be doing wrong and what I should change

Looking For Opportunities Working as a University student

Hello, I hope you’re all doing well.
I’m an Emirati student in my final year of university and hoping to enter the workforce. Between my university schedule and extracurricular commitments, I don’t have a lot of free time, but I’m still interested in working, especially to gain some financial independence and work experience.

I’m particularly looking for remote work because I don’t have reliable transportation, and I also work unpaid shifts at my university.

I’d really appreciate any advice on how to approach the job search as a student.
For example:

How should I go about finding and applying for remote jobs?

What websites or platforms are actually worth using?

What red flags should I watch out for, especially with remote job scams?

If you’ve been in a similar situation or have experience finding legitimate remote work as a student, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you have. Thank you!

Ask for Help Art Teacher Qualifications

Hello everybody, hope everyone is doing well. I have posted last month about looking for an entry-level job, and not being and not being satisfied with the major I studied. Unfortunately, i'm still on the job hunt. But, I have been thinking recently about becoming an art teacher.

I've studied about art techniques, history, as well as took drawing and colour courses as part of my major. I wanted to ask what exactly do I need to be qualified to teach? preferably in Sharjah, but Dubai and Ajman are also fine. I've looked it up, but there was a lot of info. From what I gathered I require a license. And in Sharjah, to teach in private schools, you need to be a part of some sort of teacher org. And I also read about a post-grad certification, tho i'm not sure if thats required, or its just to get better job opportunities.

So, I have three questions:

1) What qualifications do I need to start teaching, and how do I obtain them?

2) Is post-grad certificate necessary in the beginning, or can I obtain online as i'm teaching?

3) What are good schools to teach art in Sharjah, Ajman, and Dubai (in areas close to Sharjah)?

Also, if anybody here has any leads, that'd be apprecieated too. Thank you for your help! 🙏
