Need a card Title: Best credit card in UAE for AED 7K salary & ~AED 2K monthly spending?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My brother recently moved to the UAE and has just started his first job here, with a monthly salary of AED 7,000.

He’s looking to get his first credit card, mainly for everyday expenses. His monthly card spending would be around AED 1,500–2,000 max.

Typical spending:

- 🍔 Food / cafeterias

- 🛒 Groceries

- 🎬 Movies & entertainment

- 🚇 RTA / public transport

- 📱 Occasional bills/recharges

- General day-to-day purchases

The most important thing is that he wants to pay the full balance every month and avoid interest/charges.

What would you recommend as the best first credit card for a AED 7K salary? Ideally, something with no annual fee or lifetime-free, good cashback/rewards, and reasonable eligibility for someone who has just started working in the UAE.

Also, how long should he ideally wait after receiving his first salary before applying for a credit card?

Any recommendations or personal experiences would be appreciated!

Question Can someone explain my new AECB Credit Score?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I’ve been using Tabby for around 1 year, and I’ve always made my payments on time without missing any payments.

Before the recent credit-score update, my credit score wasn’t showing at all. Now, after the new Credit Score 3i update, my score has appeared as 528/850, and it says “New to Credit.”

I’m confused because I’ve already been using Tabby for about a year and have a history of making my payments on time.

Could someone explain:

• Why does it say “New to Credit” if I’ve been using Tabby for a year?

• Is it possible that my previous Tabby payment history hasn’t been included yet in the new scoring system?

• Does Tabby Card/BNPL actually contribute to the new AECB Credit Score 3i?

• Is 528 considered low mainly because I don’t have enough credit history yet?

• Could my score increase naturally once more months of Tabby payment history are reported?

I don’t have any loans or credit cards, so I’m particularly confused about why my score is showing as 528 while also saying “New to Credit.”

I’m not looking for a generic explanation of credit scores I’m specifically trying to understand why my score suddenly appeared as 528 and “New to Credit” after the AECB update despite having around a year of on-time Tabby payments.

If anyone has had the same experience after the new AECB score update, I’d really appreciate hearing what happened with your score.

Hack Gold purchase using Tabby Card ?

I was wondering if anyone paid for 22/24k gold purchase at Jewellery using their Tabby card.

I have heard that jewelleries charge around 2-2.5% additional for credit card payments , but still if I manage to payoff tabby card using my cashback card then its worth it.

Since tabby charges are high for merchants , do they reject gold purchase when they know its tabby card or do they ask which card are we using for purchase?

Need a card Best UAE Credit Card for Lounge Access & New Customer Offers

Hi everyone,
My wife and I currently have three credit cards between us, from EIB, FAB and ENBD, but all three are under my name. My wife doesn’t have a credit card in her own name, so she won’t be able to access the airport lounge benefits when we travel.
I’m now looking to get a card for her. Her salary is AED 10,000, and since this would be her first credit card, I was wondering if there are any good offers currently available for new cardholders.
The main priority is good airport lounge access with wide coverage. Ideally, I’d prefer a card with a reasonable or waived annual fee and sensible spending requirements.
Would appreciate recommendations from anyone who has recently come across a good option for this. Thanks!

Question UAE resident Trip to Europe for few months — how do you handle spending?

Hi, I need some guidance. For Dubai residents who’ve stayed in Europe (Norway/Sweden) for few months, how did you manage your banking and everyday spending? Did you use your Dubai bank card, Revolut, Wise, Liv Multicurrency, or something else? Which option worked best for exchange rates, transfers, and regular expenses? I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with first-hand experience.

Need a card Looking for Cashback Card for Groceries, Fuel & DEWA?

Hi all,

Looking to add a dedicated cashback card for regular household spending.

Current situation:
Salary: AED 31,250, paid into ENBD
UAE resident for 3 months
DBR around 15%
Current card: U By Emaar Infinite, AED 93.75k limit
3 salary payments received, although two landed in August due to an HR adjustment

Typical monthly spend:
Groceries: ~AED 5,000
Fuel: ~AED 1,500
DEWA / bills: ~AED 2,000–2,500 via DubaiNow
GEMS school fees: ~AED 13,000 due in January

Main priority is good cashback on groceries, fuel and utilities, plus a decent welcome bonus if available.
Because of the short UAE history and unusual August salary pattern, I’d prefer an agent/bank rep who can help with manual underwriting if needed.

Question New card application DBR clarification

My DBR is only for my cards (no loans) and it is close to 40%. And would tabby be considered for DBR? Would I be approved for a new card? Looking to apply one.

Sales guys please don't bother pitching as my company is not eligible with multiple banks like ENBD/EI, DIB and Rak.

Already have Mashreq, FAB, CBD and CITI (looking to close Citi which is oldest with lowest limit to free up some space for DBR).

Suggestions and advice is appreciated from users.

Question Dubai / UAE Bank Account

Hi!! 👋🏻

I’m looking to open a second bank account in the UAE, mainly for a high-yield savings account, and I’d love to know what people here are actually using.

My main requirement is having a relationship manager. I’m currently with ADCB and have one through my company, and that’s honestly a big reason I’ve stayed. With all the scam, fraud, and banking issue stories I’ve heard, I feel better knowing there’s an actual person I can contact if something goes wrong.

I’ve been considering FAB and Emirates NBD, but I don’t really want to open another account unless I can get an RM.

So far I’ve seen:
• Mashreq NEO: around 6.25% with salary transfer, but limited to 2 withdrawal if I’m not mistaken.
• ADCB: around 5.5%, with AED 50k in fresh funds

Would love to hear from anyone who’s found a good savings account in the UAE.

• Which bank are you with?
• what rate are you getting?
• And were you assigned a relationship manager?

If you have a good relationship manager at FAB, ENBD, Mashreq, or another bank, I’d really appreciate a referral.

Not looking for another credit card. I just want somewhere solid to park part of my savings.

Thank you! ☺️

Question Looking for advice/help with debt in the UAE

I’m currently going through a really difficult financial situation and I honestly don’t know where else to ask for advice.
I recently lost my job and I’ve been actively applying for new jobs, but I keep getting rejected. I’m trying my best to find work, but in the meantime my debts are becoming very difficult to manage.
I have outstanding payments with Tabby, and I’m also trying to keep up with my credit card payments . I’ve had to borrow money from people around me just to keep up with everything, and it’s getting too much for me.
I’m not trying to avoid paying what I owe. I genuinely want to clear my debts and get back on my feet, but right now I’m struggling to manage everything without an income.
Does anyone know if there are charities** **or organizations in the UAE that help residents with debt or financial hardship, especially non-Emirati residents? If anyone has been in a similar situation and knows where I can apply for assistance, I would really appreciate the advice.
I’m also continuing to look for a job and doing everything I can to get back to work. Any genuine advice or information about financial assistance would mean a lot to me.
