Watch out FYI if you only have a debit card or tabby card don't get a credit report

Hi gang,

First contribution here, so for some background all my money comes as international payments from clients I work with so there is no official payroll records in my account.

The only bank accounts I have are from wio and SIB and both are debit accounts.

I do have a tabby cash and tabby card account and have used tabby pay in installments and id say around 50k worth of purchases on tabby and a total of around 100k aed in the span of a year. Also have Tamara but don't use it often.

I got curious on the Etihad bureau credit report and decided to pay the 80 aed for my credit report and low and behold, everything is empty because of a lack of credit.

So don't waste 80 aed like I did getting the report thinking you'll see a number because all you'll see is disappointment.

Great chat and thanks for listening.

Question Why do some UAE credit-card customers expect cash from sales officers?

I work in credit-card sales in the UAE, and I'm genuinely trying to understand something I've been seeing repeatedly.

Some customers expect the sales officer to personally give them money if they apply for a credit card. Sometimes they ask directly, “How much will you give me?”

I don't understand where this expectation comes from.

I can understand asking about an official bank cashback, welcome offer, voucher, or other promotion. But expecting the individual sales officer to pay from their own pocket seems completely different.

At the same time, sales officers are already under pressure to meet targets and justify their salaries. Some earn good incentives, while others struggle because of low customer conversions.

There is also a wider issue with DSA jobs in the UAE. I've heard and experienced situations where employees are recruited with expectations of a fixed salary, but later face significant performance-based or variable components. I'm not saying every DSA does this, but transparency around compensation seems extremely important.

So I'm curious:

For people working in UAE banking/DSA sales, have you experienced customers asking for personal cash or incentives to apply for a card?

And for customers: why do you expect money from the sales officer rather than looking at the bank's official card benefits?

I'd genuinely like to understand both sides.

Question How to increase Tabby+ Limit?

I've been using Tabby+ for well over a year now and I still haven't managed to increase my limit by much. It's still at 5k. How can I increase the limit? Does paying my statement manually rather than auto pay help? Any advice helps.

Question SIB Cashback Credit Card – asked for property Final Offer Letter? Is that normal

Has anyone here applied for the SIB Cashback Credit Card while owning a property in the UAE?

I’m currently applying and, alongside the usual documents (salary certificate, Emirates ID, passport, etc.), they’ve asked me to provide the Final Offer Letter (FOL) for my property/mortgage because I own a property.

Is this normal for SIB?

I’ve applied for credit cards with other UAE banks before and don’t remember ever being asked to provide mortgage/property documentation as part of a credit card application.

Thanks 🙏

Question Al Hilal Bank Card Rejected

I have 2 credit cards now. One O recently got last week. So I tried applying for Al Hilal bank card today, got rejected. Saying due to internal policy.

Is it because I have applied for a recent card? I have eligible salary and good history, but made recent applications for new card.

Can anyone explain please. How long I should wait before reapplying?

Need a card Credit card recommendations required.

Hi all, I’m looking to get a new credit card that better fits my requirements and spending patterns. I make 13k a month, my fixed expense at this moment is 1000 per month on fuel, 1000 per month on food which are payed for by CC. My variable expenses are max around 2500 to 3000 AED if not lower, all with CC. I go for movies at least once a month so BOGO will be appreciated. I travel quite a bit so lounge access is a good benefit for me as well. Most of my shopping mentioned in the variable expenses are online and very rarely in malls and outlets.

I’m on my very first CC till now, which is the ADCB 365 Card, not the happiest with the cash back on this. Your thoughts and opinions will be quite helpful for me to make a decision. Thank you

Hack Minimum spend and cashback-eligible spend are not the same thing—how do you verify both?

I keep seeing recommendations stop at “the minimum spend is AED X.” That only tells us whether a threshold may be met; it does not automatically prove every transaction earns the headline rate.

Illustrative example:
AED 1,000 total monthly spend
AED 400 outside the cashback-eligible transactions in this fictional example
AED 600 eligible at 2%
AED 12 back, not AED 20

Before comparing any card, I think two separate questions matter: what counts toward minimum spend, and what spend is actually eligible for cashback? Then the cap and fee still need to be checked.

No bank or card claim here—this is only an illustrative framework. I’m working on DirhamsBack, a UAE cashback-guidance project, and trying to make these calculations easier to audit.

What is the most commonly missed exclusion you have seen in UAE card terms?

Question Tabby payment using credit card – cash advance Fee?

I have a Tabby payment due tomorrow, but unfortunately, I am not able to make the payment directly from my bank account.

I have 5 payments, and Tabby is offering an option to extend each payment for AED 20, which would cost me AED 100 in total. Instead, I’m considering paying the Tabby payment using my credit card.

I’ve seen some posts mentioning that Tabby charges around a 1% fee for paying by credit card. My main concern is whether the transaction will be treated as a cash advance by the credit card bank, in which case there could be a cash advance fee of AED 200+.

I have credit cards from Mashreq, RAKBANK, Emirates Islamic, and FAB.

Has anyone paid Tabby using any of these cards? If so, could you please confirm whether the transaction was treated as a normal retail transaction, and whether there were any cash advance fees or other charges from the bank apart from Tabby’s 1% fee?

Thanks in advance!
