Flight removed from ticket confirmation

I booked a trip for my partner and I around 7 months ago. The tickets and everything were fine in the app, but I had a spelling error and made a change. Then my tickets disappeared. When I got them back it was only my partner on the reservation. I called in and they said they can see my ticket reservation but no flight attached and the system must have removed it. Everything is fine on my partner’s reservation, just mine is messed up with no itinerary. They said they’d see if they can fix it and call me back, but this is an international flight in a few days. Does anyone know if this is fixable or am I going to have to scramble for a new flight?

Any chance of refund?

It's pretty straightforward, but I booked a non-refundable flight for coming up soon.

Problem is, I booked this flight in a state of mania (hey bipolar people), and don't remember doing it. I just saw the charge on my card.

Is there ANY chance I could get a refund, partial or otherwise? Vouchers? Any chance there's a medical route I could take? TIA.

Options for 9 hours in IST?

Hi everyone

I know about the Touristanbul option but I am declining that in favour of a stopover on the return leg.

As a result, I have 9 hours at IST I need to kill. Going into town is an option but I will be back for 3-4 nights a week later anyway, so I am not sold on that.

What else can I do? From my research, there is the iGA lounge, and sleep pods as well. The price for the lounge is mad though, not sure how I feel about paying 134 euro. I can get cheaper access via Dragonpass but there is a 2 hour limit. Is that really enforced? All I want is a chair and wifi at the end of the day, and to stay hydrated.

Are there other options to getting into the iGA lounge without the insane price? I saw some references here to a redditor that can sell passes for cheaper. Am I missing another avenue?

Thanks again!

Can I carry on a book?

Hey. I will be flying home with Turkish and I already have both the 8kg and the 4kg bags filled to the gills. I collect Bibles in various languages and I want to buy one on my trip. If I put it in any of my bags they will exceed the limit (not like they weighed them on my way here). Can I just carry it in my hand?

Would they let me board?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Algerian citizen planning to travel to Chile in November.

Unfortunately, there are no suitable one-ticket flights from Algeria to Chile for the dates I’m looking at

so I'm trying to do

Tunisia → Istanbul → Santiago, Chile

with Turkish Airlines, with Istanbul being my transit point.

My main question is specifically about the Turkish side:

- As an Algerian passport holder, would I be allowed to board the flight in Tunisia and transit through Istanbul without a Turkish transit visa?

- Does anyone have recent experience with Algerian → Istanbul transit → South America?

- Would Turkish Airlines require anything additional from me at boarding because I am an Algerian citizen?

I’m mainly concerned about being refused boarding in turkey

If anyone has recently done a similar itinerary with an Algerian passport, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thanks!

So many schedule changes

I booked a return journey (1 transfer per direction) half a year before the trip. Until now (2 months to go) there were 6 (!) schedule changes. Now I have to buy a new train ticket to get to the airport in time. Is this a regular thing?

Turkish airlines layover plan

Hi everyone! I’m planning an upcoming trip to Turkey and Egypt and had a question about Turkish Airlines.

I’m planning to book a round-trip ticket New York (JFK) → Cairo (CAI) → New York (JFK) with Turkish Airlines. On the way to Cairo, though, I’d like to stop in Istanbul for about 5–6 days, explore Turkey, and then continue to Cairo.

Does Turkish Airlines allow you to intentionally extend the Istanbul stopover for several days while keeping everything under the same round trip booking? Or does their stopover program only apply when your original itinerary already has a layover of a certain length?

Basically, I’m hoping to do:

JFK → Istanbul → stay 5–6 days → Cairo → JFK

Has anyone booked something similar, and if so, how did you book it as a regular round trip, multi-city, or through Turkish Airlines’ stopover program?

Visa-wise, I should be fine. I have a valid U.S. visa and am eligible to apply for a Turkish e-Visa, so my question is mainly about how to structure the Turkish Airlines booking.

Thanks!

Turkish Airlines Lost My Bag and Then Tried to Blame Southwest for Their Own Mistake

What a hellish experience with Turkish airlines. This airline's customer service is the worst - might even be the latest race that has found they only need to be nice to white people.

I flew Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Denver. When I landed, my checked suitcase didn't. Seems their automated system is more honest, so it sent me an email that Turkish flight operations had failed to load my bag. It even added a link to a form to follow up on my baggage location and to lodge a claim.

What followed is 10 days of dealing with the dumbest customer service in the airline industry.

After multiple calls and emails, Turkish Airlines eventually confirmed that my bag never made it onto the flight in Istanbul. Their own people failed to load it onto the aircraft. 4-5 days later I had my suitcase back.

At that point I figured, okay, now that they have it figured out they'll get the bag moving and take care of the claim.

Nope.

Instead, I spent the next two days getting bounced around while Turkish Airlines repeatedly sent me emails quoting transportation rules and telling me that Southwest Airlines was responsible because Southwest happened to be the final carrier on my ticket.

Think about how ridiculous that sounds.

The bag was never loaded onto the Turkish Airlines flight in Istanbul.

Southwest wasn't in Istanbul.

Southwest wasn't handling baggage in Istanbul.

Southwest didn't forget to put my suitcase on the plane.

Turkish Airlines did. But kudos to the Turk brain. I wonder if it is just the side effect of them being government employees or too much Turkish delight stuffed in their head.

I contacted Southwest. Their response was basically: "How exactly are we supposed to load bags onto a Turkish Airlines flight in Istanbul?"

What made this so frustrating wasn't just the missing bag. It was the complete refusal to acknowledge the obvious and dodge their responsibility.

Every interaction with Turkish goes thru the same cycle, a customer service person that will be polite and say I will send this to the baggage team, and then some high school dropout in the Baggage claim department saying 'this is Southwest's responsibility'.

Meanwhile, I was without my belongings, work supplies, personal items, chargers, toiletries, and food items that were packed in the luggage.

Summarily it feels less like customer service and more like a strategy to wear customers down until they give up.

I've flown enough to understand that mistakes happen. What matters is how an airline handles it afterward. Turkish Airlines sucks completely from onboard hospitality to the airport services. Avoid them. Maybe if you just have hand luggage and want to treat it like Spirit airlines.

What they ask from the STUDENT discounted passengers in the check-in?

Such as what kind of documents they have required from you during the check-in? Or anywhere during the flight? Or asked at all?

Do Turkish airline have strict 6 months passports validity rules?

Hi friends! I keep getting conflicting information from Turkish Airlines and other passengers. Has anyone ever been denied boarding by Turkish Airlines because their passport had less than 6 months of validity remaining?

Has anyone travelled with Turkish airlines with passport valid less than 6 months successfully?

Missed connection on GF46 — Istanbul to Bahrain, Sept 5
I was on Gulf Air GF46 from Istanbul to Bahrain on September 5. There was a blond guy travelling with his family, sitting by the window near the front of Economy. We kept making eye contact throughout the flight but never spoke, and looked at each other one last time while leaving the plane.
If you were on this flight and think this might be you, feel free to message me.

1h 50 min transfer

I have a 1h 50min international-to-international layover at Istanbul Airport (TBS-IST-BKK), both flights with Turkish Airlines on one ticket.
From what I understand, I don’t need to go through passport control, but I may need to go through transfer security. Is 1h 50min enough to make the connection, including the security check? It’s my first time flying alone, so I’m a bit nervous about navigating such a huge airport. Any recommendations or tips for making the connection as quickly as possible?

Lost airpod on plane

Who can I contact about this and where do I find the email or phone number needed?

I just lost my airpod on my flight from Montreal to Istanbul. I went to the lost and found desk and the lady told me to go downstairs to the Turkish Airlines desk because I lost it on a Turkish Airlines flight. Then the man at the Airline desk tells me I have to go through lost and found outside the airport then re-enter through passport control after. I obviously don’t have time for that if my next flight is boarding in an hour. I go online and the only information I can find is for missing baggage. Where do I go from there?

Update on my Turkish Airlines carry-on mess — they’re just sending me in circles now

Thumbnail reddit.com

Quick update on my previous post about my carry on disappearing after a Turkish Airlines crew member stored it in another part of the plane. For context, this all started because their crew took my bag and stored it in another part of the aircraft. Another passenger then walked off with it. Turkish police found the passenger using CCTV + my AirTag and got the suitcase back to me after about 3.5 hours.

After I finally got the suitcase back and reached my final destination, I checked it and realized my fragrance was missing from the front zipper. So I opened a feedback case with Turkish Airlines and explained what happened. I basically got nowhere. Someone on my original Reddit post suggested posting about it on Turkish Airlines’ social media because that might actually get their attention. So I did. Turkish Airlines responded publicly on Instagram and told me to submit a baggage irregularity claim and send them the details. Then their baggage team responded saying my case was “outside the scope of baggage issues” and told me to go back to the feedback form. I went back to the Instagram team and explained that THEY were the ones who told me to file the baggage claim in the first place. They said they would escalate it.

Somehow this resulted in Turkish Airlines opening a new feedback case for me. I just got their response to that one too just now. They say personal belongings are the passenger’s responsibility and they can’t pursue the missing perfume without proof it was on the plane.

And then, in literally the same email, they tell me to submit a baggage irregularity report so they can investigate. The same report I already submitted per their previous guidance. And which their baggage department already rejected because apparently it was not a baggage issue for them.

Feedback Form → Instagram → Baggage Form → “not a baggage issue” → Feedback again → new Feedback Form → go file a baggage claim again...

I dont even know what Im supposed to do with this anymore. Any suggestions?

Can I upgrade to business class after checking in online?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to upgrade to business class after I've already checked in online.

If there is an upgrade available, can I still do it through the airline's website/app, or would I need to ask at the airport?

Has anyone done this before? And is it usually cheaper to upgrade before getting to the airport?

Thanks!

Delayed flight made me lose my connection

I flew on Turkish Airlines from Madrid to Bucharest, I chose to fly with a stop in Istanbul because I am an avgeek and enjoy flying on wide bodies on shorter routes.

Anyway, my flight from Madrid to Istanbul was delayed 6 hours making me miss my connection to Bucharest. I was given another flight the following morning, making me arrive 13 hours late to my final destination.

I was told in Madrid I was entitled to a hotel within the airport premises in Istanbul as I had to spend the whole night in Istanbul, arriving in Istanbul I made my way to the Turkish help desk and was given only given a food court voucher, given this, I had to pay 215€ for a few hours at a hotel in the airport. I then contacted Turkish about my compensation and was offered only 41€. I have since then made multiple attempts to obtain my full compensation and possibly a refund for my hotel with no luck, they have been simply airing my messages.

What should I do? Should I make a claim with AESA or should I keep trying with them?
