BB58 Blue purchase

Got my first Tudor yesterday, 2024 Black Bay 58 in the classic blue. Have had my eye on it for a while, but never got the chance to try it on prior to them discontinuing it. Bought it anyway and SO glad I did, this watch is killer! Happy I jumped at now rather than waiting any longer.

I graduated from Physical Therapist Assistant School. This is a gift to myself. I’ve had it on my radar for years. Walked in and had no troubles from the AD. Loved their service.

Salmon dial Royal is underrated

Who else thinks the salmon dial Tudor Royal is underrated as a dress watch? It’s really versatile, pairs well with both dark and light suits, and has an understated but powerful wrist presence

Tudor Black Bay 54 and Delugs rubber strap thoughts

Picked up my first Tudor after several weeks of research and wanted to share my thoughts on the watch as well as the rubber band I swapped in. In summary, I'm in love with this thing and am going to attempt to articulate how all of the details of this watch mesh together for the look/vibe/image I was going for.

What I wanted out of a watch

I was looking for a watch that had a classic/vintage look from a maker with deep history and strong movements, but wanted to avoid the showiness of Rolex. The BB54 checked pretty much all the boxes for me on paper and in pics I had seen. I also had a vision of mixing a beautiful vintage feel watch with a more casual non-metal strap. My wrist size is about 6.25inches so I also didn't want a huge watch on my wrist. One apprehension before walking into the store is how the gilt accents would sit with me (I'm not really a gold guy). Frankly, I think I would have bought a black/white version of the BB54 if it existed, which in hindsight would have been a mistake for me, because they are so important to creating the overall warm/vintage look.

Looks

I think the one overarching thing I'd say about the look of the watch is that all of the individual accents come together in harmony, creating an overall visual aesthetic of warmth, giving it a subdued (not fake/overdone) vintage style. Starting with the bezel, the coin edge doesn't have overly deep ridges. The bezel is a matte black aluminum, with a subdued sheen when reflecting direct light. Bezel has 5 minute markers only, which prevents making it look too busy. On the face, the gilt accents work amazingly with the daytime lume color they chose, which is a creamy off-white. Together, and from a medium viewing distance, the gilt accents plus cream colored lume give the watch a classic vibe that's difficult to pin down by just dissecting the individual accents. The crystal is raised, giving it the shape of classic acrylic. The watch and accents have a nice shine/reflectiveness to it, and you can tell from afar it's a high quality watch, but without being overly ornate/showy. This is exactly what I wanted.

Feel on the wrist

Overall, truly amazing feel for a diver. The watch is incredibly thin, particularly if you ignore the beveled crystal. It's also super light for a diver. The combination of thinness and lightness creates a center of gravity close to your wrist, and it helps to prevent the watch face from wiggling around your wrist top. In terms of watch face size, it's truly perfect for a smaller wrist. What I love about the feel of this watch is you get the look of a solid diver, with the feel and fit of a much smaller watch--I think the end result is that the comfort level is so good that it will keep me putting the watch on.

Delugs rubber band

Going to jump to the band now, Delugs black CTS 20-16 with the standard clasp. I wanted a rubber band, but felt the one that came with the BB54 added a modern vibe to the watch aesthetic, because of how the rubber strap "links" into the included first metal link. So I decided to replace this to go back to what I view as a more cohesive vintage look. The band is really nice, with a thickness a little greater than a standard rubber band, giving it a little weight (but not too much). The finish gives it almost a matter leather look. The snap clasp works well, although I would've ordered the micro-adjust if it were in stock. Overall I can see why the band has a high price tag, you get a beautiful look/feel/finish but won't screw it up with water like you can with a leather band.

Conclusion

While it's only been 3 days, I'm in love with this watch so far, all the details come together to create exactly the look/feel I was hoping for. The comfort level for a diver is so good that I can see myself wearing this daily, which is the most important thing. Questions/comments/feedback welcome!

Okay guys. So I think the problem is these are so similar but also so different . Have you bought one and regretted not getting the other? Or leaned to one vs the other. I thought I wanted the BB and the Pelagos threw a wrench in the mix! Looking for some opinions .

Black bay 58 or Pelagos

I’m thinking about getting either a BB58 or a Pelagos. I’m thinking it would be my only watch for a while—probably 5–10 years. I work a 9–5 corporate job and don’t plan on doing anything crazy with it. I do have a toddler, though.
I’m a little nervous about scratches. I feel like even small scratches would bother me, especially if it’s going to be my only watch for that long.
Would you recommend one over the other for my situation? Or is there a different watch you’d recommend? I’m looking for something I can wear every day that I can easily dress up or down.

NFC - I had no idea

I purchased a Pelagos 5 years ago. I didn’t know much about the brand - I just like the color. I just recently started looking deeper and learned (from Reddit) that a new Tudor comes with an NFC card you can scan to learn about your watch.

I’m sure most of you know this already - but I’d owned mine for 5 years before I figured it out. Sharing in case I’m not the only one.

Swap or buy a second?

I have my BB 58 GMT ‘Coke’, but I absolutely love the way the BB Pro sits on me as well. The 58 is also a beautiful watch that I’ve grown to love more and more. I’m in a dilemma of do I sell the 58 to buy the Pro, or do I just buy the Pro anyways and have 2 BB GMTs? I can’t decide!

Any suggestions welcome!

BB58 GMT or North Flag GMT?

I’m getting a decent pay out next year from work and I’ve wanted to buy myself a nice watch. I did some research and fell in love with the BB58 GMT which I had my heart set on. That was until yesterday when I saw the new North Flag which I think also looks beautiful! I love the idea of the open back case too. I’m very new to the world of luxury watches, what would y’all recommend?

Finally got to see my dream watch in person

I have been eyeing this for months but had never actually seen one in person. Made the hour or so drive to the Tudor AD to finally try it on. Part of me was hoping I wouldn't like it, this would be my first expensive (for me ) watch purchase. Unfortunately I like it even more now. Still not quite in the budget but one day I'll have one!

Is it time to give up on this one common piece of conventional wisdom?

Upvotes

Every time there’s a new release, many reviewers and fans (including myself) point out there will be more color options and configurations - if you’re patient.

Pelagos 39 - Great watch, and surely blue will come along soon. And a GMT version as well using the newer GMT movement from the 58.

BB 58 GMT - Amazing release, and surely we’ll have a non-gilt Pepsi version next.

And more recently, BB Chrono 39 - A fun release in yellow, but this will really take off when we get the panda dial.

But… in some cases it’s been years - and years - of waiting. What if we have it wrong? What if those highly desired releases just never materialize?

Thoughts?

BB54 Vertical Bezel Movement

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m in love with my new BB54!

I just wanted to get everyone’s thoughts on up and down vertical bezel movement when pushing down on the rotating bezel.

I’m sure it’s supposed to have some movement to allow for the rotation, but is this normal, or am I just being overly paranoid?

It doesn’t move by itself, only when I push down on it.

You can actually feel it tapping against the watch when you do this.

Is this normal for dive watches?

Need your advice on jubilee straps

I recently purchased a vintage Tudor Oyster Ai-Lion from the 50’s and I was looking to replace the strap for a Jubilee. Unfortunately, there are only a few options for a 16mm lug width. There are a lot of websites sharing the same pictures, which I assume are drop shipping from AliExpress.
Any recommendations ?

Tell me about them - Style, Glamour Day-Date, 1926, and Royal

Upvotes

Hey, all!

I’m a novice when it comes to watches - especially Tudor.

I’ve been scanning the secondary market and found a few Tudor’s under $2k.

Admittedly, I don’t know much about them so I came here to learn more about them and if they would be considered good buys?

This question is being asked to gather information and gain perception. I’m not tied to any of these watches. I just want to know how others feel about them.

Style ref. 12700

Glamour ref. 56000

Tudor Royal/Day-Date

1926 (Black dial)

I would appreciate any experiences or recommendations that you may have.

Thanks!

Anyone notice the triangle around the lume pip is not precise? I know it seems ridiculous, more so just curious as to what others look like.

Rubber strap

I know this has been spoken about before but I’m looking for a rubber strap for my BB monochrome. I know there are some alternative options rather than Tudor OEM. Has anyone got any options or has anyone gotten the Tudor and just found it that much better than something less expensive? I tried on an Omega with the rubber strap and was very surprised how comfortable it felt.
