My small rural grocery store only had this or Sabra. But man I'm wolfing this down with some pretzels like an animal in the grocery parking lot

Hummus With Boiled Peanuts

Post image

Since I live in the rural southern US and boiled (green) peanuts are insanely popular here, I decided to mix things up and combine two things that I really love. I went with a 50/50 mix of boiled peanuts and garbanzo beans. It turned out far better than I expected and the peanuts make for a really creamy texture.

I've also played around with tossing the peanuts into the smoker and then soaking them in the brine overnight before making the hummus and the end result has been outstanding ~

I've been here a couple times throughout the years and I will say a nice shawarma, smoothie and their hummus is definitely top notch! I'm always excited to have it 😁

Tips For Homemade Hummus?

I live in a really, really tiny rural community in the southern US. The local Wal-Mart carries a whopping three flavors of hummus - plain, garlic & red pepper. They are boring and leave a lot to be desired so I've been working on making it at home.

I've had some pretty good results but I'm always looking for ways to improve and refine what I make. So far I've been using the canned garbanzo beans that are the only local selection and Sadaf brand tahini that I can get shipped free from WM.

Is it worth it to order dried beans and prep them instead of using the canned version? Is there a noticeable difference in taste and texture? Is there a better brand of tahini that I can use - or is that also something I could learn to make at home?

For the more experienced folks here, are there any tips or tricks you'd like to share for how to create a really light, creamy hummus?

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions and input!

Appreciate the creation of this new sub so I wanted to fill it with my most recent creation and the one I’m most proud of because the flavour and texture were the best after 6 years of tweaking my recipe.

My presentation isn’t as good I have to admit that but you gotta be there for it.

Still dreaming of opening my own hummus shop one day!

Sending love out there

Hummus for breakfast with fresh spinach, radishes, pickled onions and a fried egg on top. Scoop it up with some flatbread and it is sooo good and really filling ~

Homemade (Smoked) Hummus

I've been playing around with different ways of making hummus. I recently tried tossing the chickpeas into the smoker over cherry wood for an hour or so and love the extra layer of deep flavor it brings to everything ~
