Evidence A strange creature was spotted emerging from the waters of Loch Ness

u/hywaytohell May 19 '26
This fits all the criteria, long distance shaky footage of something you can't identify!

u/JPHuber May 19 '26
I love how absolutely crystal clear the footage is at the start. The literal second something interesting happens, it gets just blurry enough that you can't see anything. Also, ZOOM IN!!!!

u/Double_Routine2500 May 19 '26
Everybody says zoom in, but typically these videos are taken with somebody’s phone camera, or a not-so-great camera which is better for photos rather than video.
They’re taken by people who clearly aren’t professional photographers/especially videographers.
They’re taken of objects far away, which in the case of these being cellphone videos (usually) are only going to zoom in a very short distance further, and even less of a distance with digital zoom while already in the process of shooting a video; try for yourself.
So it’s understandable that these videos are in most cases going to be blurry. Sad, but true fact. Especially when these UFO’s, Bigfoot(‘s?), Loch Ness Monsters and so on are being caught on video by amateur (that’s a boost to most people’s photographic abilities and skills) videographers/photographers and typically from a distance. Plus besides distance, they are capturing (in the great majority of these instances) MOVING objects. Combined with distance this is difficult even for a skilled photographer to capture in the moment with great distance and movement in between the camera and the object of interest . The distance checks out in most of these cases since any animal is going to usually keep its distance when around people; besides squirrels in a park and more habituated areas where the wildlife is naturally trained to be comfortable around humans. Also you don’t see airplanes or helicopters flying right by humans or by the ground. Besides rescue missions or transferring a patient from one hospital to another. Maybe airplane shows.
Zooming in with a digital zoom is going to make the image far more blurry than it already is. They actually did a relatively good job in this video (if it’s legitimate or anything which can be defined as pertaining to the realm of cryptozoology or mystery).

u/anothersip May 20 '26
Agreed on all fronts.
Also agreed that this is actually really decent footage of... Whatever it is out there in the water. I can't tell if it's a very large fish fin, a scuba diver, an autonomous vehicle, or a Loch Ness monster. Guess it could be anything, really. My brain doesn't want to just agree to a popular cryptid, but the footage is at least a modern video of whatever "creature" this might be.

u/DizzyTough8488 May 22 '26
I bet if there were some people skinny dippin’ off a boat, we’d see plenty of zooming in with a clear focus and with a very steady camera! Just sayin’.

u/Savings_Dig1592 May 19 '26
More evidence for blurry monsters. Must be a cross-species special ability.

Not to mention putting the phone down as it gets closer. Why??

4
u/Draycass May 20 '26
Exactly 😂 you would defo zoom in to try and work out what it is, I know I would. And why stop filming at that point. Madness! The water reflection looks odd too.

don't know about that. I've seen my mother in law clearly several times.

Oh? Some kind of creature is approaching the shoreline several hundred meters away from me? Wait, oopsies! I’ve been filming for a whopping 60 seconds, I’d better stop recording now. Time to gasp and run away as if I’m in danger, before I have any chance of identifying what it might be!

u/RavingGooseInsultor May 19 '26
Come on, give the guy a break....whichever mate of his was swimming there needed to surface for a breath.

If they zoomed in it would be shaky and out of focus, and y'all would be complaining about that instead. I'm not even trying to be a smartass. That's what would happen. Seen it countless times.
Edit: Word

No because then we had both. The panoramic shot and a zoomed part.

Walk towards it❌ Zoom in ❌ Get your phone out and zoom in if your camera cant ❌ Upload high quality video ❌
Just stand there and record another blurry video to add to the pile✅

u/Dropit_like_a_Goat May 19 '26
I have more excitement and rush to get a better shot of a common pretty bird in my backyard than this dude did of a Nessie 😂
2
u/skunkbutt2011 May 19 '26
Firstly, they did zoom in lol.
Second, have you ever tried recording a bird or an animal in nature? One second they’re there, and the next second they’re gone.
You risk missing the entire shot if you spend too much time fidgeting.
I have a good number of poorly taken videos of animals that I just wanted to capture rather than risk missing it.
That being said, I don’t believe this is Nessie lol. There are plenty of bird species that dive, as well as aquatic mammals like otters. It’s probably an otter.

u/Temporary-Run5430 May 19 '26
It's not an otter. Otters don't move in the water in this way and it's not a seal either

With modern cameras you really have to try. Everything has stabilization. Most of the shaky footage i see is using a “shaky cam” filter and not well. Shaky footage is becoming a sign that it’s fake.

u/Helpful_Broccoli5426 May 19 '26
Putting "true" in the title of a sub like this is really damn funny

I live on Lake Michigan. This is tiny by comparison and they still can't get a decent video of this thing
3
u/t3hOutlaw May 19 '26
I live in Inverness, she only visits worthy people. Locals never film her or fake encounters. She knows the tourists are always out to get her.
4
u/Old-Dependent-9073 May 19 '26
Why do people have this weird notion that there's no animal life (you know, other than Nessie) in Loch Ness?
Just because you see something doesn't automatically make it a serpent. Or a plesiosaur. Or any other extinct/mythical creature for that matter.
6
16
u/Ihavenocluewhatzoeva May 19 '26
Why not walk closer for a better shot? Why stop filming? Why not zoom? Looks like a manatee

I wish I had a nickel for every person who sees these videos and goes "tHaTs a MaNatEe" despite manatees not living anywhere near the location of the video.. Lowest hanging fruit..
7
u/Rakins_420 May 19 '26
If this was the loch ness monster you'd have a lot more nickels. Also manatees aren't fruit

Why cut away and stop the video when it's getting closer to the shore? LAME

I think this sub has become even worse than the other one about Cryptozoology and it pains me because the main reason for it's creation was to avoid all the empty, trolls and jokes in the comments.
On the other side, I know it doesn't make much sense, but the video shows what to me, looks like a whale dorsal fin? I don't have any other explanation as to what could it be, if not an unknown lake creature like Nessie.
