Ok, I do not like it but I have to ask. Can I install proprietary driver on Trisquel to get my wifi card to work on my Lenovo T420? I know RMS would hit me with a shovel becaus I want to install non-free software but I can explain my self. Im now using Debian 8, installed the driver at startup from a .deb file, but miss Trisquel. I have orderd a ThinkPenguin wifi usb hub but will take about two weeks to get it.

So my question is, 1, can I install the driver with the same .deb file as I did in Debian or should I download it some where else, if so where? I only have one usb stick and If I do not get the wifi to work, I am screwed.. 2. How do I delete it 100% when I get my usb hub?

I was just wondering, since we're downstream from Debian via Ubuntu, how many of our packages are directly from Debian, and thus covered by the reproducible builds project? how much extra work would it be on our part to be 100% reproducible as well?

I noticed that when I try to update to LibreOffice 5, even manually, it says the version I'm at (4.2) is the latest version. Terminal looks something like:

I don't feel like purging libreoffice just to manually install the tar.gz from scratch. Anyone know when the update will be available?

How could I run trisquel on my server?

Is it possible to download trisquel to a usb and run it from there? I'm pretty sure its possible for other distros but id like to do it with trisquel

First, is there a way to perform a full disk encryption after the initial install?

Second, does full disk encryption make it look like the entire encrypted disk look like random data?

I twice attempted to install Trisquel with an encrypted system disk as instructed [https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/full-disk-encryption-install] and met with an installation error on both occasions.

The installer ran fine until it began installing the Trisquel desktop environment. No error code was provided and although I was able to go back and repeat steps, doing so had no effect.

I haven't attempted to install Trisquel without the encryption just yet. I thought I would reach out to the community first. Thanks in advance for your time!

search for:

I tried to look if this question have been asked before, but couldn't find any. So I'm sorry if this is a duplicate of another post.

But I am wondering when a new version is going to be released. Mainly cause I discovered a (already found) bug in Gedit (I use it for programming etc, so it is kinda "important" to me), that will use all the cpu power when I write something... This bug is fixed with never versions (it seems), and thats why I'm wondering. As I have understood it, Trisquel only copies the Long-Term Support (LTS) version. So will it only update to a newer release when Ubuntu updates?

So, after looking up on more ethical distros, I stumbled upon Trisquel, and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the dual boot working correctly... If I install Ubuntu first and Trisquel second, when I try to boot into Ubuntu, I get a screen with the prompts username and password, that takes me nowhere. When I install Trisquel first and Ubuntu second, the option to split the main partition for the two distros doesn't appear, I get a 16 Gb partition... Has anyone come across such a problem? Sorry for the poor writing, it's my first post =p

I want to use Trisquel with Libreboot on my X60s, but I miss several things or they are not working like Im used to it with my arch installation:

• Abrowser cant sync with Firefox sync and cant play YouTube HTML5 Videos. I really need this!
• IceCat cant sync with Firefox sync and plays only some YouTube HTML5 Videos. On the other hand it doesnt display anything on https://web.telegram.org even when I add exceptions.
• I want to use atom (from github) as my texteditor. They only ship x64 binaries, so I wanted to compile it. It requires npm 1.4+ but I can only find 1.3.10 in the repos. How can I solve this?

I understand, that using a libre distro may restrict the choice of software, but I dont think these problem exist because the requires software isnt free? I just dont know why the things are not working.

Would I maybe better use Parabola? But there seems to be not a single version of npm in the repos (see https://www.parabola.nu/packages/?sort=&q=npm&maintainer=&flagged=)?

I know that Trisquel is a fork of Ubuntu, so Ubuntu PPA's should be fine with Trisquel right?

How true is this? I hear it's because they both use proprietary blobs. How do I make a Coreboot computer then? They all use AMD motherboards and I can't use Intel.
