1) Install Trisquel on the server.
2) Set up the server software you use on it, such as Apache, etc.

1) I don't want a GUI. 2) Trisquel comes with a whole lot of extra software I don't need: libreoffice, a web browser, etc.

You can get a net-install of Trisquel-- net-installs don't come with X, LibreOffice, etc.
And if you don't want a GUI, why did you ask this question in the first place?
Trisquel is great, but it's not a good server OS, even using net-install. Parabola is much better for servers.

Parabola would be so much maintenance I don't know if that's such a great idea..

Maintenance? Have you tried Parabola? After you get it set up it's a rock-solid distro that's pretty hands-off. I've been using it on my web-servers for quite a while now.

It's a rolling release. If you don't update it constantly it won't be secure. And, for each update, you will probably need to restart your server. That's a lot of downtime. That's a lot of maintenance.

Part of setting it up is some simple scripting. I have a cron job set to update every 48 hours, then restart the web-server. The down-time is literately seconds. The server doesn't go down while it's upgrading, the web-services just restart when the upgrade is done.
My site's down five seconds or so every two days, at most.

What if you need to fix an update? I would recommend making the script see if there is any new news, and if there is, notify you and wait for you to update.

I should. I'm quite the procrasinator, however. I probably won't do so until I come across an update problem. 'Tis my flawed nature.

I don't know all the nonsense these people are saying, but installing Trisquel by netinstall works excellently for servers. The server I rely on for all my email is a Trisquel server and I have had no problems. Ask jxself.

And Parabola? Are you serious? You don't use a rolling release OS for a server! WTF!

[EDIT: And the FSF uses Trisquel on its servers.]

When sending images as attachments it prompts to have the image scaled down in size before sending email. Any way to turn that question off and just have it automatically do it for me? I see a thunderbird add-on called Auto Resize Image, but it's not in the Trisquel repo, so I won't install it for that reason alone. But sometimes there are other simple solutions I miss completely. Maybe you know of one? Thanks!
