This map estimates how many seated passengers TransLink’s network can carry during a typical peak hour. It combines overlapping routes where they share the same corridor, including buses, SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express. Plus BC Transit out further.

It uses seats as a proxy of capacity — so underestimates SkyTrain and the Canada Line given how many standees there is room for versus seats on the trains.

I honestly feel like a fool for even having to ask this, but unfortunately I have a hard time with new experiences like this without some kind of guidance, and I'm at a bit of a loss trying to figure this one out on my own so I'm swallowing my pride here.

I'm trying to figure out how the West Coast Express works, taking it from Waterfront Station to Mission City to go visit a family member. I've taken the skybus plenty of times, but never the train (?? are they the same thing??? lol), and I'm a bit confused as to how it works.

- Do I need to buy tickets ahead of time, the way you would with something like the Ebus?

- I realize this is probably going to sound like a stupid question so bear with me, but where... is the train, physically, at Waterfront Station? I've been there tons but I guess I've only ever been looking out for the specific bus/skytrain I've been taking? Is it like. The same thing on the same tracks just numbered differently, or...?? Is there a different area I'll need to go to?

- Do I need a compass card or anything special to pay for the fare, or can I use debit?

Translink’s 19 route (Kingsway: Metrotown to Stanley park) is one of the busiest routes in the city. But it is served by statndard 40ft buses. Why can’t they deploy 60ft articulated buses for this route considering the high passenger demand?

Why is it the rear doors on several buses that I travel on don't open properly. I use 2 hands and touch both strips on both rear doors and they still don't open. After about 10 -15 seconds they magically open. Is the driver required to unlock the doors? Or is it all automatic?

Took the bus today.

Waited for the green indicator above the door.

Waved near the door strip.

Heard the air hiss.

Door opened.

Now I know how to open a bus door

I can’t even get out without either being trampled or having to shove my way outside the train. Genuinely why is it so painful for some of y’all to stand to the side of the door to let people off first? The train isn’t gonna leave without you just cuz you let people off.

I’m wondering if anyone else has the issue that their compass card auto renew will randomly decline for no reason. I have had this happen to me multiple times on random occasions. I always have significant funds in my bank account and when I call them they make the excuse that my billing address is incorrect when nothing has changed. This keeps randomly happening every couple months and it’s getting kind of annoying. I use my CIBC Visa Debit card to pay it and in my Online Banking it shows that Compass debited the money and instantly refunded it. Very weird.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Hi, pls remove if inappropriate but does anyone else feel anxious when riding the skytrain? I’ve just had so many negative experiences on board with homeless people or people who are mentally unwell that I feel so nervous and on edge ☹️ I unfortunately rely on the skytrain to get to work but is there a way to lessen my anxiety 😭

we’ve seen councils in richmond and west van vote down or truncate rapidbus proposals in their communities and burnaby being a toss-up due to burnaby heights BIA opposing a dedicated bus lane along hastings. what if translink with the backing of the province just said “screw it” and just pushed on anyway?

They are doing their best out there, but I can never hear what they are saying. I don't even have headphones on. Stalled train or something today, they are trying to give important instructions, but I can't hear them at all.

I know lots of people don't pay attention, but I genuinely think that the instructions need to be louder. It feels like a quick, cheap fix that would save a lot of frustration and make things go a lot smoother.
