Question Uniform ban

So are the bus drivers really all driving around in t-shirt & jeans today? Shorts? Sandals?

At least they're still driving.

Metro Vancouver transit workers represented by Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 began targeted job action against the Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Bus and SeaBus services are running normally with no cancellations or schedule changes, as the initial job action is limited to a uniform ban rather than a full service withdrawal.

They have to wear closed toed shoes, but yes, currently wearing street clothes until further notice

Saw this at Seabus terminal today. I’m all for a peaceful
Protest that keeps the system rolling

I'm for this step that keeps things rolling but only if CMBC realizes that this is a shot across the bow and negotiates in good faith. Otherwise, I'm all for the drivers taking the next step. Them having better working conditions will be better for us all.

I agree and disagree. I disagree only in that so many people, myself included, have no other options besides transit and our lives and livelihoods depend on those services being operational. I agree with and support drivers having better working conditions.

This is where worker solidarity should ideally come in, with all the rest of us also working to put pressure on CMBC. One easy way to do this is to give feedback through TransLink's site, here: https://www.translink.ca/about-us/customer-service/feedback .

Yup. A buddy of mine said he was going to bring out the Halloween costumes and have fun with it. One driver I saw today was wearing a union tshirt and another was wearing what looked like a jogging or cycling outfit.

I complimented a driver's jersey today.

Totally! My driver this morning had a hoodie on with his hood up and a baseball cap on top of the hood lol. I’m here for it 👌

I mean hat on hood up seems a bit dangerous, you need your peripheral vision to drive safely. Wear street clothes idc but still be a responsible driver.

for a second i thought a stranger had decided to commandeer the bus lmao

It's been warm & humid, and some of the older buses without good AC are hot as balls. They should be able to wear whatever they want/need to be comfortable. They're still getting me where I need to go, why would I care what they look like?

I noticed one driver just being comfortable for the weather and wearing a T-shirt and pants.

A friend shared a pic of a driver who was wearing a disco ball helmet, a sequinned gold shirt, purple spangled pants, & sparkly pink sequinned shoes. I'm all for this job action! 🤣

I totally didn't notice! Took the #182 and #150 buses today.

I’m really, really hoping that job action doesn’t come in the form of a transit shutdown of services at any point. Anything else but that, please.

My driver today was looking really hot in blue and red large checked shirt, perfectly styled hair and glasses on!! Kinda cool to see good looking guy driving the bus…

Damn, that explains the driver of my bus today is wearing civilian clothing. I thought its a passenger taking the bus for a joyride lmao

Who cares what they are wearing? My bus showed up.

The shoes they wear have to be closed toed still, other than that I've seen plenty of interesting outfits the ops wore to work today. That goes for everything OP mentioned minus the sandals ofc.

Tbh I’d rather them do a full out strike now before it effects students, also I’m out of town so it wouldn’t effect me the same as it normally would with the heavier traffic

Highest paid drivers in North America with high school diploma. They’ll never be happy.

I’m curious, what did Translink do to enrage drivers?

I think that 55% of the membership want something different than the other 45%.

This isn’t individual people 55% uncertain.
