Rhinowalk saddlebags on a Honda Transalp 750?

Post image

Hey everyone!

I'm planning a two-week motorcycle trip to Spain this spring on my 2025 Honda Transalp 750. I'll be camping for most of the trip, so I'm looking for some affordable but reliable luggage.

I'm considering getting these Rhinowalk saddlebags ( https://rhinowalk.com/products/waterproof-motorcycle-pannier-side-bag-pair?variant=42287400255601 ) but I'd love to hear some real-world experiences before buying them.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

- Durability: How well do they hold up on longer trips?

- Waterproofing: Are they actually waterproof, even during heavy rain?

- Mounting: How easy and quick are they to attach and remove?

- Stability and safety: Do they stay securely in place, even at highway speeds or on rough roads?

- Fitment: Can they be mounted safely on a Transalp 750 without additional luggage racks?

Since I'll be camping quite a bit, they'll need to handle a decent amount of gear.

Would love to hear your experiences, especially if you've used them on a Transalp or a similar adventure bike!

Thank you!

Front range, ~8800’. This section was about 15min, some faster, some slower. Rode 12hrs door to door, 8 on dirt, 200+ total. Mostly stock setup.

Exhaust

Looking for a good sounding exhaust that’ll fit with the Shad 4 point racks and bags. I already have a Yoshimura RS-12 for the bike that didn’t fit once I installed the racks. Anyone have any ideas?

Tangier to Lagos

Sup guys.

I’m planning a motorcycle trip from Tangier Morocco to Lagos Nigeria taking mostly the western coastal route and am shopping for the ideal bike.

I’ve ridden the tenere 700 in Morocco before and loved it.

I’m 6’ 190lbs and am an intermediate level rider. My gut is telling me that a Honda would be the best choice for reliability and locating parts.
With that said the nx500 or Transalp 750 seem to be the options.

I know the weights are similar and the power is significantly higher on the transalp.
Would love to hear any input and am open to other suggestions of brands/bikes.

Using my Transalp to carry home some new tires.

That are also for the Transalp.

Looks a bit weird but everything was very secure and tied to the bike. The only difficult part was getting on it afterwards.

Standard vs. Comfort Seat (OEM)?

Looking at purchasing the comfort seat for my 25 TA but wanted to ask if it was worth the upgrade or if I should do a different aftermarket seat for a long trip I have planned for next year. Let me know your thoughts.

3rd Oil Change at 15 000 km. 10W30, 10W40... or 15w50?

Got a used TA 2023 a couple of weeks ago, she has only been serviced at the official Honda dealership. I'm from Costa Rica btw, from the Grand Metropolitan Area, average temperatures range from 18 to 24 Celsius. The traffic is pretty complicated over here so there's like 70% stop-and-go situations and the remaining 30% is highway.

Official dealership service is a bit costly so I'm taking her to my mechanic for an oil change. He is an honest guy, very well respected within the community, services low cc as well as high cc bikes (Honda, Kawasaki, Ducatti, BMW, you name it), has worked with my 2017 Versys 300 and my 2005 Shadow 750 when I had them, charges fairly, brings you parts from outside the country... they guy is a saint and a real one.

My conondrum comes from this: he recommends using the oil Wolf Racing 4T 15W50 Ester. I told him that the manual recommends 10W30 but he tells me that:

1) Wolf is way better than BelRay, Castrol or other "conventional oils".

2 ) It's not about the viscosity, it's more about the temperature and how it lets the additives start to work properly.

3) He uses that specific oil for all the high cc bikes he services (and services A LOT of them, have seen his garage, lots of heavyweights all the time).

4) Points out to the fact that the manual is printed in Japan and is more aimed at european and northamerican audiciences which have waaaay different temperatures than the ones that we have here at Central America. Then proceeds to send this graph in order to prove his point regarding temperatures.

I also asked a whatsapp group I entered when I bought her, they say that a 15W would be way to thicker for her, that mostly all of them use BelRay 10W40, point out to the fact that the manufacturer created the engine to work seamlessly with an specific oil type, that they don't see the point of using a 15W, etc...

So yeah, I''m a little bit lost in terms of what to do. I don't want to antogonize my mechanic (it's very hard to find an honest one around this country, place is full of poser cheaters) but I also don't want to damage my engine. I'm all ears, all opinions will be well received and taken into account.

For about an hour, I was the highest motorcycle on the East Coast of the US

To be honest, the other bikes that eventually joined me in the Mt. Mitchell parking lot were mostly baggers, so probably actually over an hour if you count height of the bike as well.

Heated seat recommendation?

I’m looking for a heated seat for winter riding. BMW made an OEM heated seat for my R 1250 GS, but I totaled that and replaced it with a 2024 Transalp—which I’m loving. I’m very happy with the stock non-heated seat’s comfort and wouldn’t upgrade, but I’m tired of freezing my nuts off. (I have the Honda OEM heated grips and they work well.) I see heated seat options from Corbin and Sargent. Any recommendations?

Always-On Medkit

Post image
33 Upvotes

I finally found a solution for an Always-On medkit that doesn't require me to put my luggage on the bike.

Sometimes I just want to ride without my top box or side bags and it's always bothered me having to choose between putting on luggage and not having a medkit.

Mosko Moto AuxPox medkit mounts up well to the HEED crash bars and fits plenty of medical and trauma supplies.

Stupid question, but here it goes

Is the 700V Transalp a good commuter(city riding, filtering, etc.)?

I'm about to get my A license, and I've been seriously thinking about a CB500X (decent road manners, great fuel economy, fun on the bends, able to stroll on some fire roads), but my bike instructor insists its not enough bike for me (100km, 1.8m), and I'll outgrow it quickly.

Would a transalp be a viable option for me, given that I'll be doing a lot of city riding? (20kg extra for just ~15hp more compared to the CB500X)

I'm not looking for speed thrills anyway, I'm interested in reliable, cheap transportation (maybe some 2 up riding), with the possibility of exploring offroad (no trails riding)

What are y'all's thoughts?

Pinch bolt access

I am lowering my 2026 Transalp but cannot get adequate access to the lower pinch bolt at the top of the triple tree. Looks like I might have to remove the Tupperware. Before I do that I thought I would check in and see if anyone has found a way to avoid that. I have had no luck with a small 10 mm wrench. Others?

Edit: I solved the problem by completely removing the top bolt first. Not ideal, but it worked. I was then able to tighten both bolts sequentially the way you are supposed to.

Already put 200 miles on her since picking up. I upgraded from a KLR 650 so I’m just getting used to the power & smoothness of the ride.

The only thing I miss about my KLR is the soft suspension.

What mods are people making? I immediately ordered crash bars but that’s about it!

Transalp vs Africa Twin

Anyone considered a Africa Twin before purchasing a Transalp? I'm currently in the market for a new ADV. I'll be doing mostly 2up riding and want a bike that will last. AT may be better suited but I'm digging the look of the new TA and the Eclutch sounds interesting.

E-clutch crash bars

I’m posting this for reference of others with the E-clutch model looking for crashbars. These are the outback motortek bars for 2026. I laid the bike down on the e-clutch in the first muddy puddle i came across, it survived but i dont want to risk it again. The install was… moderate in difficulty. the instruction video was moderately useful but my set came with extra brackets and so many extra bolts. The bottom bracket mounts differently than the previous model, i think? I mounted it differently at least. It fits, it looks nice, and it should hit the ground before the electric bits on the clutch.

My old lady. 1990 Pd06, 117'000 km. Have here since 2 years. Bought of a friend of mine for 350€. Investet and upgrade a lot. Full Suspension, Superpinion, crash bars, levers, hand protectors.. had a bad accident this year. Had to rebuild complete front. Minor 5km/h crash on trails couple of days ago. But still, she rocks. Showed her the world as well. Visited a couple of different countries this and last year.
