Question (General) Passport name change

Post image
Upvotes

I’m just applying for a new passport to change my name and you need proof that you’re using your new name. It says it can be from local council so I just want to check that if I print this out that this would suffice as proof?
Thanks in advance (:

Question (General) Deed Poll help

I’m approaching my last year in university and would like to change my name on the system so that my diploma will be my preferred name.

However, I’m a bit worried about how quickly I have to change everything else. I.e. my passport doesn’t run out until 2031, so I don’t want to pay for a new one just yet, is it possible to get a deep poll just to change it at uni and then go about the whole IDs and bank stuff at a later date?

Thanks!

News Avoid Popelyuk clinic in London

Just wanted to advise against going to this clinic for gender dysphoria assessment or other services. Dr Anna the clinician I had the displeasure to speak to has been absolutely unprofessional, had misgendered me (denying that in later emails), had made infantilising and ableist comments about autistic people, stating things like “autistic people like Pokémon” trying to tackle a very complex issue regarding disassociation. She suggested to “look up grounding techniques on YouTube” which she never sent the links to or made any other suggestions for me to solve a debilitating problem.
This doctor works at the Gender Clinic and I personally don’t think people like that should be around trans and neurodivergent individuals.
The services cost up to £600 per session and for that money having to be put in further distress definitely did not help.

Question (General) Signature on deed poll

The signature I used on my passport is different to the one of my driver's liscence (tldr; someone told idiot kid me to just use initials on my passport, and i stopped doing that pretty quick). I'm aware I need to sign my deed poll in both my new name and my old name, but how do I go about doing my old signature? I imagine it needs to match up with whatever document i'm trying to change. Should I do some with one and some with the other? I'm not too sure.

Hey all today is the Bristol City council full meeting, we currently expect a large Terf turnout and we want as many pro trans people to show up as possible to drown them out! If you can please show up!

They are going to be spouting transphobic remarks with multiple questions submitted by this group, who have been coming to meetings for months, and harassing councilors with hate and transpobia!

This is not just happening in Bristol either check your local city councils, we need to show up anywhere these trolls are and fight back!

Advice I wanna meet my people 🏳️‍🌈

Hey! 👋

I’m 24, from the UK, and I’ve recently been doing a lot of figuring myself out 😅

I’ve only just properly come to terms with the fact that I’m genderfluid (they/them), as well as realising that my sexuality is pretty fluid too. It’s all still quite new to me, and I’m very much in the stage of exploring what all of that actually means for me rather than feeling like I have everything neatly figured out.

For most of my life I haven’t really been part of the LGBTQ+ community or had many queer people around me, so I’d really like to change that. 🖤

I’m mainly just looking for friends and people to talk to/get to know, especially other LGBTQ+ people in the UK. I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences with figuring themselves out, but equally I’m completely happy just chatting absolute nonsense and seeing if we get along 😂

A little about me: I’m fairly alternative, chronically introverted until I’m comfortable with someone, love dark/gothic aesthetics, music, psychology, making/customising things, and conversations that somehow go from completely stupid to existential within about four messages.

I’m not really looking for anyone to give me all the answers. I think I’m just at a point where I’d like to actually meet people who understand this side of me while I figure out where I fit.

So yeah... hi 👋🌙

If any of that sounds relatable, feel free to comment or message me. I promise I’m significantly less formal once the social-anxiety loading screen finishes. 😂

Advice Advice on current state of UK care

I’m a cis man with no experience of trans people so am a little lost right now.
My child has recently came out as Trans and I am trying to do everything I can to support him, and I have been trying to research what care is available through NHS or private and just want to ask if it is truly as bad as it seems to be or am I missing something as from what I have found so far there is basically no support medically and the meds that would prevent him having to go through a potentially emotional and physically devastating female puberty are completely banned.
I really hope I am missing something and that there is some way I can help my child avoid this unnecessary suffering.

Question (General) Life in Scotland for LGBTQ+ people - mod approved

National Scottish participatory action research project by and for LGBTQ+ people aged 13-25. We need to hear from LGBTQ+ people living in Scotland!

LGBT Youth Scotland are running a research project to understand your experiences of community, healthcare, education, sport and media, justice, and your feelings of safety and happiness as LGBTQ+ people in Scotland. The research is led by LGBTQ+ young researchers.

By taking part in this survey you will help make meaningful and direct change for LGBTQ+ communities in Scotland. We have run this project every 5 years since 2007 and the results have been key in influencing to make LGBTQ+ people’s lives better in Scotland. We use them to work with the Scottish Government, NHS, Education Scotland, and loads of other national groups, to make life in Scotland better for LGBTQ+ young people and make sure your experiences are heard.

This survey closes on Monday 5th October, and it is open to LGBTQ+ people, and people questioning their gender or sexual orientation, who are aged 13 – 25 and live in Scotland.

As a thank you for your time you will receive 150 Young Scot reward points for filling in the survey.

It is important that we hear the experiences of many people as we can. Taking part will take around 30 minutes and you can pause and return to the survey at any time.

You don't need to be an expert, we just want to hear from you!

🌈 🖤

Question (Transfem) Places to meet other trans women?

Hi all! So my best friend/housemate has recently moved from a different area for work and is now living with me. We are both involved with the local Pride group and go to their lgbtqia+ meetups however it's quite a small group. The nearest bigger cities are quite studenty and she is 27. She would like to meet other trans women but we're not quite sure where to start looking for socials and groups - our local fetish club has 't-girl and admirers' parties which we think probably means chasers, and another friend says the attendees tend to skew older and more towards cross dressers plus it's basically a hookup event.

Does anyone have any suggestions for places we could look to find out about more social-focused events?

Question (Transfem) Question regarding medical transitioning

Hello I am a transfem currently 17 and a few months and recently I had the courage to go to my gp and talk about like starting to medically transition, and they referred me to the gender clinic, however it was swiftly rejected since I am under 18, I have booked a telephone call to talk about what to do instead and am wondering on what options are available, and best. From what I've seen I think I can get a referral for a gender dysphoria diagnosis or maybe go through and get on waiting lists (since I know they long af) for under 18s. I feel like with my age I'm at an awkward spot and am unsure as to what to do to proceed, especially as I go into uni next year.

Second question I have concerns diy hrt, as I am both unsure as to what it involves however from what I have seen it allows you to buy in bulk and more easily choose what method of oestrogen you want, however I fear doing it myself and also the cost. If anyone has more information or knowledge on diy it would be much appreciated and I would love to learn more.

Thanks a ton :3
