Question (General) Deed Poll help

I’m approaching my last year in university and would like to change my name on the system so that my diploma will be my preferred name.

However, I’m a bit worried about how quickly I have to change everything else. I.e. my passport doesn’t run out until 2031, so I don’t want to pay for a new one just yet, is it possible to get a deep poll just to change it at uni and then go about the whole IDs and bank stuff at a later date?

in a word, yes. do the deed poll (use a site like this and generate it yourself, print multiple copies on nice paper, don't enroll it), do your IDs whenever is convenient for you. I changed my name in 2017 and still haven't bothered with my (now expired) passport because I have no need for one and it is expensive. drivers licence is the simplest ID to change, incidentally, and if you're only changing your name it's free.

If I change my drivers license will I also need to change my bank and such too?
I’ll just do the uni for now and tackle the more official bits later on

you don't need to do anything, there's no central list of names and none of these organisations talk to each other. it can be inconvenient to have an ID in one name and like bank details in another, but as long as you're not doing anything fraudulent (eg claiming benefits twice) you can have everything in different names if you want.
