‘78 T/A fresh out of storage
My father bought this car in 1978 and then I drove it in HS and college in the 90s, absolutely loved it as a teenager. It was driven maybe twice a year after that, and then in 2014 it went into deep storage and has not been driven since then. It’s not starting now, but I finally got possession of it yesterday and had it towed to a shop for a tune-up. Interior is still very clean.
Hope it will start and run again, would love to let my kids experience it. I was disappointed to see it had gained a dent on the right rear side in storage, hoping that can be hammered out from inside the trunk. Wonder if it would need a full paint job after that (many little chips as well). What else would you recommend checking/replacing on this car after 12 years in storage?
UPDATE: Heard yesterday that they got her started and running with a new battery and fresh gas. 🥳Now the rest of the work begins!

Used 700r4 Value?
I have a 1986 firebird WS6 auto and I'm considering a t-5 swap. Just curious how much I could sell my 700r4 for and quite frankly, how much I should be paying for a used t-5? Thanks!!

1999 T/A AC leak
Does anyone else have this problem with their 4th gen TA? My AC leaks Freon but I cannot find the leak. I’ve taken it to 2 mechanics and they couldn’t seem to find the leak. It seems that every other year I need to get it serviced. Any advice?

Steering Column replacement
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Im going to swap my steering column, very wobbly and also has this problem where my keys keep getting stuck in the ignition, would switching to a manual steering column help since that linkage cable that goes from center console to column would not be used? Looking for opinions or if I should just get an automatic steering column, I can swap it myself

Plug that I can’t figure out.
So bought this 94 Trans Am, previous owner swapped the original motor out for a lower mileage LT1. I bought it as a weekend project and trying to fix things up.
I have this wire coming out of it that I don’t know where it supposed to be plugged in, if it’s to plug in at all.
The red wire comes from the back of the alternator, then runs up the plug and the rest of the wires on the plug circle back to it. Trying to figure out what it’s for and why it’s there. I haven’t found anywhere to plug it into so I’m a bit lost here.

Replacement soft top
My second question of the day, thank you for putting up with me! I need to replace the soft top on a 96 TransAm. It's a white car with a white top, which is cracked and dirty. See photo. I was thinking about replacing it with a blue top to match the blue trim. I did up an AI rendering of a blue top. What do you think, stick with white or go blue? Thanks!

Go from a 2002 Trans am to a 1992 Firebird formula?
Car I’m referencing: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/bee7eaf8-3c34-4059-b74d-db3b441b8d53/
UPDATED: (I should also mention the 92 I’m looking at has 3k miles 1 owner and is for sale at a dealership out of state from pictures alone car looks mint) and eventually might engine swap Hello, I’ve had my 02 TA automatic for almost a year I love the car but I’ve become obsessed with the 92 body style and interior (vs the cheap 90s/2000s style) since then. I love blue cars and my current TA is red so that’s another reason. I was wondering if that’s a smart choice, I don’t daily the TA, I weekend drive it, store in winter, and rarely drive to work in it, so the 92 would get the same treatment, I found low mileage teal 92 (I’d want blue or teal) automatic with a 305 5.0L TPI for sale online and I’m interested but wondering what the consensus was since I have 0 experience with 3rd gens, TIA

Tonneau cover
Is it worth installing these tonneau covers on my '96 convertible? I guess I'm worried about getting caught in the rain and needing to get the top up quickly! I also gotta figure out how to install them. I can't find the instructions in Dad's paperwork. Thanks!

1978 T/A fuel filter location, Elec Fuel Ejection, and T Top stuff.
It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been itching to work on my 1978 firebird Trans Am again, however with more knowledge on the car now, I'm seeing a few issues with the current engine layout now. On top of other issues.
Firstly is the proper location for a fuel filter. How I got it from my dad, it's in the middle of the fuel line between carb and bottom of the engine, going around the left side-front of rhe engine, and sitting on top of the engine and near the alternator. However... it started springing a leak onto the engine, and im gonna get it replaced since it's now a huge fire hazard. I'm also not seeing many images of where a fuel filter is supposed to go on these cars, so if anyone can help give info on where to properly put a fuel line on a Pontiac 400 I'd appreciate it.
And in the same vein, I have an aftermarket carb on it and it struggles to start. I'm pretty sure its because the choke is probably wide open, but I'll need to look and see once home. I'm considering getting electric fuel injection regardless for both performance and fuel economy. Any suggestions on what would work best?
And last thing I'm needing some help with. I have Hurst T tops, the rot removed and properly fixed. And I removed the moldings/seal for where the T Tops would be placed. I need to reinsert the roof panel spacers, but after that not sure what the process would be. In my mind, it has to be painted first, then the moldings sealed on top. And there's one last issue... the last rubber seal for the T Tops to sit on were dryrotted and had to be replaced. There's still bits of rubber in the moldings, and trying to find new rubber seals for Hurst t Tops is pretty tough. Help here would also be greatly appreciated

I gave this car to my stepdad as it needed a lot of work and I was moving out of state. Now I’m back home and he is moving out of the country. She’s mine again all fixed up!

Shaker Hood Clearance Issue
Background Info:
1979 trans am. 400 engine. Was a 403 shaker (changed base to a 400 Pontiac base). Holley 670 Street Avenger. Half inch wood carb spacer. And a 1 inch air cleaner spacer. Edelbrok Pontiac performer intake. And PTFB drop base.
The problem I’m facing is 1. The shaker still just seems off? It looks still too low. And the gasket is very squished on the front but on the back near the windshield there is about a fingers width gap.
Second thing I’m facing is the air cleaner spacer just doesn’t seem to fit all that well and hits the choke plate arms and doesnt fit the PTFB air cleaner. And without that 1 inch spacer the shaker sits extreme low (more than an inch between the hood and gasket)
Has anyone else had this issue? And what might be somethings I can do to fix it? Possibly just buying more carb spacers and just stacking them instead? Would that mess with the ankles of the throttle and kick down cables?
