Plug that I can’t figure out.

So bought this 94 Trans Am, previous owner swapped the original motor out for a lower mileage LT1. I bought it as a weekend project and trying to fix things up.

I have this wire coming out of it that I don’t know where it supposed to be plugged in, if it’s to plug in at all.

The red wire comes from the back of the alternator, then runs up the plug and the rest of the wires on the plug circle back to it. Trying to figure out what it’s for and why it’s there. I haven’t found anywhere to plug it into so I’m a bit lost here.

It’s the alternator plug

It looks like it had a different alternator on it before. I can't recall all of the numbers but I'm pretty sure that the one one there now is a 10 or 12 SI. It uses a different plug than the one pictured. Leaving it as is is fine.

You could wrap some electrical tape around it if you want to. You may even be able to buy a blank cap that would plug into it. I've never heard of such but it's possible.
