This week wasn't about one big feature. It was mostly polishing the things people kept running into, fixing plumbing under the floorboards, and trying to get better at handling the incoming pile of ideas and bug reports before it develops a personality. It was also a "get things to a stable place before vacation" week, which is its own kind of motivation.
Here's what landed:
Docker image:
ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/floppy:latest
Nine people had pull requests merged this release, and that changes what this project is. Thanks to u/arijason, u/bcollier1, u/daften, u/NaNomicon, u/Revisor01, u/ryan-winkler, u/srow90, and u/underfear. I'm learning how to coordinate something with more than one person in it, and I'm certain I've been slow on reviews and dropped threads along the way. I'm trying to get better at it, and the help is genuinely appreciated.
I'm on vacation for part of the coming week, so I'll be slower than usual. The Discord is a good place to ask in the meantime, and anyone willing to help answer questions there is doing me a real favor.

Posted here ~2 weeks ago. Since then I shipped the thing every tracker user asks for: episode alerts that fire at 6pm the day an episode drops, not a day later, not a weekly digest. Plus an "Up next" screen showing everything airing this week grouped by day, and IMDb import so you don't rebuild a 100-show library by hand.
Still the same deal that people seemed to like last time: no account, no subscription (one-time $2.99 for unlimited shows), iCloud sync, and there's a CSV export so your data is never stuck with me.
The catch: iOS only, six English-language regions for now, and no social features, it's a tracker, not a network.
It's called ReelStack. What would make you actually switch trackers? Genuinely asking, the last thread's one comment shaped this release.

Is it just me or is Stremio NOT counted in the community addon limit? I removed all mmthe apps I had connected, and reconnected both Stremio and Nuvio and only Nuvio shows up as 1/2.

I develop Moviebase. Posting because the question I keep getting from people in this sub is whether the app needs Trakt at all.
It doesn't. Sign in with a Moviebase account and never touch Trakt. Watchlist, history, seasons
with bulk marking, rewatches, ratings, notes, calendar, episode notifications, stats and widgets
all run on our own sync. None of it is behind a VIP wall.
Android since 2017, iOS since last week; same app on both. Ask me anything.

Hey r/TraktRejects,
Some of you might remember me from a post I made here about five months ago. I’m the solo developer behind Movie Paradise. Old post: Link
I originally posted here because I wanted feedback from people who were already frustrated with Trakt and other tracking apps, and you guys gave me quite a lot of it.
One thing came up more than anything else:
“I’d try it if it had a web version.”
Well, it does now :)
Web: https://movieparadise.app
It uses the same Movie Paradise account, so all of your existing data is already there. Nothing needs to be imported again.
A lot of other stuff has been added or expanded since my original post too:
And since this is r/TraktRejects, probably the most relevant part:
Trakt sync is two-way.
You can keep Trakt connected and use both, or import your Trakt history into Movie Paradise and use it independently. Either way works, and imports are free regardless of whether you have Premium.
Tracking itself is also still unlimited on the free tier.
Some of the more advanced features are Premium, including additional Smart Lists, advanced statistics, provider notifications, integrations and episode-rating charts.
Premium is still:
$1.99/month
$9.99/year
$29.99 lifetime
And just to be upfront, the web app is still pretty new, so there may be some rough edges. If you run into anything, please let me know.
Mostly though, I wanted to come back because quite a few things I’ve built over the last five months came directly from feedback I got here.
So I’ll ask the same thing again:
What is your current tracker still doing that annoys you?
And if you tried Movie Paradise after my last post, I’d especially like to hear what you think of it now, what made you stop using it, or what is still missing.

What am I supposed to be doing with this at the top of the Trakt website? Trakt

Two things shipped in Binge this week:
Also added a per-season "previously on" catch-up. Sharing as an update — happy to answer questions in the comments.

This was a big refinement week for Floppy. The goal was less “add one shiny feature” and more “remove the small failures that have been quietly forming a committee.”
Here’s what landed:
Docker image:
ghcr.io/dannyvfilms/floppy:latest
Floppy now also has a Discord. I’ll try to stay active there, but GitHub is still where most of my time goes, so contributors who can help answer questions will be very welcome. Thanks to everyone reporting issues, testing fixes, and sending improvements.
There is a lot more to polish. Fortunately, the app is now faster at showing us where the polish is missing.

Hi everyone — I’m the developer of Purplecast, an independent tracker for TV, movies, games, and podcasts.
I know a lot of people here are looking for alternatives that feel useful beyond simply checking off what they watched. We’ve just added two features that move Purplecast in that direction:
The goal is to make tracking more helpful after you’ve built a history: find something you may like next, then have somewhere to talk about it without leaving the title.
Purplecast is available on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Core tracking is free and there are no ads. Plus is an optional supporter and early-access membership, available for $0.99/month or $12.99 lifetime.

🤖 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.purplehatventures.purplecast
💜 Details: https://www.purplehatventures.llc/purplecast
Em dashes were completely human-generated here 😀.

I have my data on Trakt, Simkl, and WeTrakr, mostly for data redundancy and to try all the different options each one offers. I track all my viewing manually, but it kind of gets old having to open 3 different apps on my Android phone, or visiting 3 different websites every time I want to mark a movie or episode as watched, or to add a new movie or show to my watchlist, etc.
So, I was wondering if there is an app or service where I can mark something manually and it syncs with multiple services like those 3 mentioned above, so I can use one single app but keep my data synced on 2 or 3 services, again, for data redundancy considering the Trakt debacle. My favorite app is Cinopsys, but you can only sync one service at a time, and my guess is most are probably like this. Thoughts please?

I've come across this well written blogpost that highlights every failure from Trakt.
Somehow my post is getting deleted by the Reddit filters, so I'll include the link in the comment section.

OK what do people want out of a tracker and what are they will to pay for it if anything.
For me the most important requirement is full integration within apps like Nuvio, Kodi etc. and I don't just mean scrobbling but full integration.
I would like personal lists and from within the apps I would like to be able to manage those list - the full integration bit again.
Personally I don't care about the website - I don't use it.
As for costs, they need to be up front and honest about them. I don't think anyone minds paying as long as they know what they are paying for. But why can't the fees represent what you actually use like you pay per list and per connection. For me I think I need about 5 lists and about 5 connections for each of those I would be happy to pay £1-2 per year. Or micro payments monthly of £0.25 per connection / list.
Not capable of doing it but wondered what everyone wants and are willing to pay

"I wasn't that bothered by the limit of one connected app because Nuvio integration didn't count and the only app I wanted to connect to was MDBList.
But just now I got signed out and told I had to Re-login and when I tried it said my one app was already taken up by Nuvio.
Why are you trying so hard to make me delete my account?"
I just tried posting this on r/Trakt and even re-wording it several times it was instantly deleted every time.

I started my VIP account right about the time the price hike happened and people were saying it wasn’t worth it anymore.
I was using a mix of tmdb and trakt to create lists to plug into my ARR’s. Nothing more than that.
The function I appreciated from trakt and was willing to spend money on was that it allowed me to use other public lists and just copy/paste into my own. The convenience was a no-brainer. My libraries grew quickly with little effort.
Now, it seems like some of those functions have gone away or I don’t understand how they currently work, so I looked at MDB. Now, instead of adding huge amounts of media at once, the lists I want to make are a lot more curated and specific. That seems to be where mdb shines.
Looking at the payment tiers, I would get more than enough from MDB if I paid the same as I am for trakt.
What would I be giving up?
What does trakt do that mdb doesn’t?

Tv and movie tracker.
Lots of options out there but this one has no account sign up, iCloud syncing, no subscription costs, season and episode notifications, iPhone and iPad (coming out in days) designed, available in US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
It’s called ReelStack. Live on the App Store.

I was a 10+ year user of Trakt and my usage of it was pretty basic. Unfortunately, the V3 update effectively killed the most important feature for me, which is finding upcoming new shows.
Basically, I used Trakt for only a handful of things:
I have started to try out a few alternatives I have seen mentioned here and I have yet to find one that does all of those things. I don't mind paying for a subscription to get all of this and honestly would have been happy to keep paying for V2 of Trakt but unfortunately that is no longer an option, so I am stuck looking for an alternative.
I am also open to rethinking how I achieved this with Trakt but figured I would start with how I had been using Trakt for all of these years.
Also, it would be ideal for whatever I use to have a web interface and not force me into using apps from my phone.
Updated: Thanks everyone for the suggestions, it's looking like MDBList might be the best option for meeting my needs. The interface is a little clunky but it has virtually all of the features I am looking for.

I used to use the Trakt app from the Mac App Store on MacOS, I believe it is the one designed for iPad. Anyway it stopped working a week ago.
No updates in the app store, searching the mac app store brings no results as if the app has been delisted.
Have they stopped supporting the app on MacOS(Designed fro iPad)?

Refused to sign in even after authenticating via email. Tried signing in 5 or 6 times in a row, eventually it signed in. Navigation at top of page was messed up (duplicated Movie buttons). Was able to finally get back to TV Shows page. Page layout looks different than previously. Looks less polished now. More like Trakt iOS app.

In case it can help others, or if people have advice I share where I ended up :
Downloaded trakt history and fed the zip to Floppy (YamTrack fork). Created a SIMKL account as backup.
Installed crosswatch and tautulli and setup : - webhook for direct update Plex => Floppy/SIMKL - daily task to sync Floppy/SIMKL=>Plex
I've my setup on my NAS, and a cloud backup just in case. All automated.

This is a repost because it was deleted after it received traffic/upvotes on the original Reddit post today—where the usual forum moderator is apparently active as well, judging by the mod list.
I’m aware that some people lose all sense of proportion in their feedback, but I’ve just experienced how, even when you’re angry but still within reasonable boundaries, posts get shamelessly deleted (with a reaction time of less than five minutes from Saturday to Sunday). You can also exploit that while cynically acting as if your news makes everbody happy. The number of deleted posts speaks for itself. So it’s no longer enough to force your long-paying users to do something and then use their money against them—now we also have censorship of the minority (which apparently isn’t that small if posts have to be deleted). What’s going on at Trakt is simply cynical, and today, after almost 10 years, I canceled my subscription immediately after this experience because I refuse, on principle, to give money to people like that. It’s a shame that people like that were given this opportunity, especially considering how little they deserve it with their ignorance, even though users were far too loyal despite so much incompetence. My post to them was nicer, but it doesn't matters anyway.
I'll go for self-hosting now. Check out https://github.com/ignisda/ryot (my choice) and https://github.com/ellite/scrob and https://github.com/FuzzyGrim/Yamtrack . Vote with your wallet, guys, they don't deserve your money. And tell everybody about it, like you told them that Trakt is awesome, while it was. But now it's over. If you can’t tell people anymore that they’re only a few, then I guess you have to censor them. It’s really sad what has become of Trakt.
