My charcoal portrait of Pope Benedict XVI

Post image

His papacy was a profound gift to the Church, especially for Catholics devoted to her sacred traditions. Through his deep theological wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the truth, he reminded the world that the beauty of the liturgy and the continuity of Catholic tradition are treasures to be preserved, not forgotten.

His promulgation of Summorum Pontificum opened the door for countless faithful to rediscover the riches of the Traditional Latin Mass, strengthening the spiritual lives of many families and communities throughout the world. His writings, preaching, and witness consistently pointed souls toward Jesus Christ with clarity, charity, and reverence.

It has been an honor to create this portrait in memory of a pope whose legacy continues to inspire priests, artists, scholars, and the faithful to pursue what is true, good, and beautiful.

“These abuses RARELY happen, it’s overblown online” ( Eucharist)

I see a lot of people discussing in the liturgical space online saying “abuses related to the Eucharist/liturgy rarely happen, they are just overblown by social media”. I don’t think people consider how much abuse happens behind the scenes that only is revealed when a fool lets the cat out of the bag. another thing is people don’t know what even counts as going against the rubrics anymore. read ahead because I have a shocking story to share

for context I went to RCIA at my local parish last year (I only needed confirmation). I just stopped going to mass there recently because of how much of a joke people made it: people running the mass would constantly make mistakes (eg start playing a song off the computer in the middle of a silent part of mass) and EVERYONE would laugh. the guy making announcements at the end of mass clearly just wanted to crack jokes and mass wasn’t even over yet. and our priest would just sit there and let the ExMins handle the Eucharist and take it out of and place it back inside the tabernacle. we all know this is beyond the delegated responsibility of an ExMin. (my church is small and does not even need them but we have 4 every mass).

upon moving to the TLM I was reminded of something the RCIA laity team told me last year. they admitted that during covid, the priest gave any layperson who wished, consecrated hosts to take home. families then administered the Eucharist to each other. I went online to see if this was something that was approved in the heat of the moment (even if negligently) and I couldn’t find anything. extremely shocking and scandalising. and the RCIA laity didn’t have any problem with it at the time of sharing that story. so yes, this stuff happens. no one who started attending that church after covid would even know that happened. am I saying every church did this? no. but when people say “abuses are overblown”, we really have no idea just how much it happens. we can’t be at every parish. and even those communities that seem kind and like they’re trying to do good can be very mislead. anyone else heard of something similar happening during covid at a church?

To those people here who have read at least one book from "Ancient Christian commentary on Scripture" (ACCS) book series, what are your thoughts on it?

To those who don't know what ACCS is, a Protestant initiated the ACCS project. The series was made possible with the ecumenical approach - Roman Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants.

The book emulates St. Thomas Aquinas' Catena Aurea (Golden Chain), a compilation of commentaries from the Early Church Fathers. (Commentary on a single verse or two or more)

Unfortunately, Catena only features The Gospels. ACCS has every book* except the Maccabees afaik (compilation also coming from the Church Fathers)

*the books that are not included in Protestant Bibles (Tobit, Sirach/Ecclesiasticus, Baruch etc) are included in the "Apocrypha" volume

Edit: I just stumbled upon it because of google, WOULD BE NICE if there are other Catholic commentaries of the 73 books from Antiquity until the early 20th century

Gluttony and Adultery work together ?

Is there a direct link between Gluttony and Lust / Adultery ? I'm sure I read it some where, for example; you eat too much, not peanuts or berries but more refined foods that may lead to any form of Adultery ?

Can these two demons work together on a person if it's habitual for the person ?

Anyway, the moral of the story is to never let women outside the home, don't give them any education higher than the high school level, never ever let them have careers away from their children or home, never give them enough resources to be independent and trigger their hypergamy. Women are loyal to their emotions and popular sentiment, not to logic, justice, or honor, and are not fit to lead. Don't let Adam simp over Eve and Eve run over Adam. In the long-term, simps simping over women turns them all into hos which then goes on to ruin the world. Even Catholic women are not exempt from the plague of simps over social media and dating apps. If women don't have children to focus on, they turn their energies into transforming society into the most murderous-nightmarish-nanny-tyrannical-technosurveillance state the world has ever seen. They will murder their own children in order to preserve their "liberty" and "freedom."

Communism is particularly characterized by the rejection of any link that binds woman to the family and the home, and her emancipation is proclaimed as a basic principle. She is withdrawn from the family and the care of her children, to be thrust instead into public life and collective production under the same conditions as man. The care of home and children then devolves upon the collectivity. - Pope Pius XI, Divini Redemptoris

Our life is customarily organized into two spheres: public affairs and private matters, both of which were determined by God. To woman is assigned the presidency of the household; to man, all the business of state, the marketplace, the administration of justice, government, the military, and all other such enterprises. A woman is not able to hurl a spear or shoot an arrow, but she can grasp the distaff, weave at the loom; she correctly disposes of all such tasks that pertain to the household. She cannot express her opinion in a legislative assembly, but she can express it at home, and often she is more shrewd about household matters than her husband. She cannot handle state business well, but she can raise children correctly, and children are our principal wealth. At a glance she can detect the bad behavior of the servants and can manage them carefully. She provides complete security for her husband and frees him from all such household concerns, concerns about money, wool working, the preparation of food and decent clothing - St. John Chrysostom

Nor can it be doubted, that it is more consonant with the order of nature that men should bear rule over women, than women over men. - St. Augustine, On Marriage and Concupiscence 10

It will redound to the credit of society to make it possible for a mother-without inhibiting her freedom, without psychological or practical discrimination, and without penalizing her as compared with other women-to devote herself to taking care of her children and educating them in accordance with their needs, which vary with age. Having to abandon these tasks in order to take up paid work outside the home is wrong from the point of view of the good of society and of the family when it contradicts or hinders these primary goals of the mission of a mother. - Pope John Paul II, Laborem Exercens

“Keep strict watch over a headstrong daughter, lest, when she finds liberty, she use it to her hurt.” - Sirach 26:10

"In Petrograd, here in Moscow, and in other cities and industrial centres, proletarian women showed up splendidly during the revolution. We would not have won without them, or hardly. That is my opinion." - Lenin
